CC question for Florida bros. So I plan on carrying my glock while hiking this weekend, and I know that open carrying while hiking is technically still illegal. (I know you can just say you're camping but still)
I have an idea, since I have a conceal weapons permit, would it be legal if I just put a shower cap or something over my leg holster to "conceal" carry it? Even though I am obviously carrying a weapon, if it is completely covered, would this be legal? I couldn't find a solid answer online.
Normally I wouldn't give a shit about unjust laws in the first place but I work with firearms and don't want to give the feds any chance of fricking my career.

Any reasonably priced plate carriers out there? It all looks like Chinese shit

      Define reasonable
Ferro slicksters are solid for like $160, and you can always find used stuff on Ebay.

I just want something that won't fall apart within the initial "oh frick blackhawk gear aint' gonna save me from two bit raiders with a stolen glock"
good stitching, durable fabric, non panic or moronation induced pricing.
hate me as you may but my inebriated self is looking quite closely at the rothco carrier. I don't want to ruin my Iotv and the coyote brown doesn't fit in with our flora until brown season

The answer is it’s entirely dependent on the officer that gets called/notices you doing it. It’s probably illegal though, just concealed carry? Wear a fanny pack of something if you’re hiking in FL with a valid CCW and in an area you can legally CCW in the first place. No one should be telling you to do anything illegal. Also, do you not carry a backpack with you hiking?

To what extent should firearm cleaning supplies be in a bug-out bag? How much ammo should I carry?

I have a legitimate MOLLE 2 large backpack, which is moderately heavy already. I obviously can't walk around with a full arsenal. Is 7 full magazines enough, without carrying around any extra loose ammo?

What should I pack in terms of cleaning supplies? Should it just be a bore snake? Or the whole shebang of Hoppe's, a cleaning rod, patches, lubricating oil, etc.?

CLP and a brush, collapsible cleaning rods.

Does anyone have any recommendations on medium-priced, decent body armor for home defense purposes?

I'm all set with firearms for home defense, but I know zero about body armor. I did some searches and I couldn't make heads or tails as to which brands were good.

I live in a dangerous part of town. During the pandemic I had 2 serious "burglars are actively breaking into your house with crowbars" type of situations.

You need to move. It’s literally not worth telling you about anything else because you have the option to live peacefully now and are choosing to stay at a place where you’re having violent breakins kek. You also aren’t going to throw on armor when Tyrone breaks your door down.

Just grab a cheap fanny pack if you don't have a proper iwb holster.

Where do you nerds shop for surplus field gear and lbe?

kommandostore (run by /k/ autists, have a history of selling pre orders than fighting with suppliers for 7 or 8 times as long as projected but if you buy something in stock, I've never had an issue), Varusteleka, mikes militaria. MidwayUSA and SportsmansGuide are good but they don't size surp clothing accurately. You can usually find relatively modern US surplus on ebay cheap.

So why did the F-86 and MiG-15 look so similar? Was it a case of one nation stealing ideas from the other, or was it just due to the very early age of jet design?

No /msg/ up right now so I'll ask here. Are there any good repro charger clips for the K31 or I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and track down some originals

There's plastic repros on ebay for cheap, or 3d pront them yourself

Do you have any experience with them? I've seen complaints that a lot of those have issues fitting in the gun

Some are printed too fat, yes, so you may have to hand fit them

You know, I've wondered this too. Not your exact scenario, but what if you were open carrying with an old school military holster that totally covers the gun. Is it still open carrying then?
Anyways, when ever I've gone hiking I've just put my pistol in a fanny pack. That way it's outside of the waistband, but still concealed and relatively inconspicuous. Plus, the threats you may encounter while hiking will probably grant you enough time to pull it out (no need to deal with blacks since they don't hike).

7 mags is plenty, when you are "bugging out" you're not going to be looking for a fight, and using your firearm is a last resort. the most important thing is sustainment, so water should take up most of your weight.
If you really want a cleaning kit, a small military surplus cleaning kit along with some q tips and baby wipes will be enough, again you're not going to be putting hundreds of rounds though your weapon.
If you're worried about ammo, I would recommend a geo cache of supplies that only you would be able to find. In an actual "SHTF civil war" type scenario, you are going to be using guerilla tactics, not fighting a front line battle.

some oil, and a bore snake. that's probably it. modern ammunition is incredibly clean, including the corrosive stuff, and yes 6 or seven mags is typical

A rag and some gun oil, if that. Cleaning bores is a meme, wipe off the moving bits and you can keep modern guns running well for literally tens of thousands of rounds. I don't carry any.

I just want something that won't fall apart within the initial "oh frick blackhawk gear aint' gonna save me from two bit raiders with a stolen glock"

If you cant afford 160 for a non shit carrier than you cant afford plates, just get an FLC and some pouches.
      >7 mags
What are you planning on doing? thats probably plenty.

problem is I've come from /pfg/ and have multiple lv3 (Italian uhwpme) plates in the pile, I just want something reasonable I can throw over my alice gear and maybe attach my camelback to.
also I'm not the same anon with 7 mags, I'd carry at least 12, an e-tool, a number of medical bandages and tools, and a handgun.

          >at least 12
If you aren't carrying 20 mags minimum on your chest rig you're just saving up gear for the guy that executes you after you run out

            >20 mags minimum
If you aren’t carrying at least 43 mags and 2 cans of loose ammo you’re just a walking target, no better than a sheep in a wolf den

              >only one gun
              ngmi
Honestly, if you're just trying to bug out for survival and not part of some armed force, how many sustained gunfights are you going to be involved in and then survive to do it again? Like 2 or 3 spares should be enough to break contact or cap a few burglars.

Guns are also for shooting animals and eating them.

Fouling from gunshots isn't relevant on the scale of seven magazines but in a "bug out" situation the reason to carry cleaning supplies is so if your gun gets full of mud you can get it reliably functioning again.

You mean the carrier or the plates themselves? For the carrier, Esstac, Crye, Ferro Concepts, Spiritus Systems are good options, although not very cheap. You get what you pay for, and when buying something that is intended to save your life, don't cheap out. For the plates, Hesco 4400 or 4401 are going to be your best choice. Hesco is the top manufacturer for plates, and they're cheaper because they're heavy, but in a home defense scenario weight isn't gonna be an issue. Total will probably be around $500.

Do you really think you'll have time to suit up?
I have a few PC setups and I don't think I'd have time to put one on if someone was actively breaking in. Swinging on a BFG plate minus with the two little buckles would be the fastest but I think I'd still skip that and draw my carry gun.

bit of a meta question, but here goes

what happened to all the 3d printing and homebrew threads? you used to trip over them sifting through the catalog with all the brazil orc guns and sieg shitposting, but it's all gone now. is it just not vogue anymore or did jannies get rid of it? i just don't want to find out the hard way that jannies don't like it

agreed 110%, don't talk weapons/tactics/capabilities online or anywhere else. still, it all comes back to that old meme:
        >you have two wolves inside you
        >one is mindful of opsec and comsec
        >the other shitposts directly to the ATF facebook page
        >both are on a watchlist

You can carry a gun in a sneaky Pete in Florida. I have also seen people with holsters that completely cover the gun but have a picture of the gun on the outside. As long as you cover the gun, you should be fine. However, if you think police know the law, you should watch the armed fisherman on YT and have that thought put to rest.
