No the wild ones are critically endangered (from eating) but they farm them now

Instead of needing them for releasing back into the wild they simply just eat them…Good job China.

              Anonymous

no they did that too by accident and it has most likely caused the wild ones to go extinct. There’s supposedly 5 subspecies of Chinese giant salamander. But the farmed ones are all genetically homogeneous mutts. So when they were released and started breading with the wild population they were all replaced and muttefied as well. Kinda similar to what to wild horses

    From who?

India would need to cross the Himalayas and is in no better shape. Russia is fricked for the next 1000 years. Pakistan would probably starve to death in Tibet and Xinjang before they ever got close to anywhere important. North Korea is in no better shape than China.
Everybody else needs to go through China's coastal antiship missile defense designed to take out the entire US Navy, unless you're positing an invasion of Russia or Iran first and then a long, long, long overland march to China.

and bullies every single surrounding state into the arms of their greatest rival through a feat of monumental diplomatic incompetence

North Korea is a Chang b***h. Russia is fast becoming China's b***h. Mongolia is Neutral. The Stans are in China's pocket, especially now that Russia is tanking. Laos & Cambodia are China's b***hes as well. Thailand is Neutral (as usual). Burma technically is Neutral but gets a lot of defense spending from China. India is secured by the Himalayas anyway (and China's allies in Pakistan, Nepal, and friendly countries like Bangladesh) and thanks to Russia's tanking, is gonna get neutral rather soon.

Nothing really is different that much besides Russia's decline. In the anti-China camp you still only have Japan (a pacifist power), Taiwan (relies on the US for defense), Vietnam (ostensibly anti-China but its Commie party relies on China for trade and business) and the Philippines (whose corrupt leaders are compromised by Chinese money).

This is flatly not true the ZTZ-96 has been exported to Africa and has seen plenty of combat there. In Sudan they were involved in an engagement with T-72's and performed better than the Russian exports, and that's with moronic African crews.

You'll have to excuse the blurry photo as it is EXTREMELY hard to find pics of African ZTZ-96's (called VT-1 through 4's over there)

This has not been true for several years (literally since the early 90s), please inform yourself, and no I'm not a fricking chink shill. It's true most of their stuff is loosely based off Russian shit but a lot of it has been upgraded with western derived tech packages. It's wrong to think of them as inferior copies but rather improved copies, even if only minutely.

They're basically western tech in a Russian package.

well, russian derived designs with ~20ish year old western tech, but that’s both 20ish years further than russian gear and also not totally awful

They might do better if they can actually produce it, since Russia makes shit products and then doesn't produce them anyway. However, pretty much every Chinese design suffers from asterisks around components that aren't as good as Russian spec when they're produced domestically. That paints a pretty grim fricking picture. We also have seen what years of Chinese "maintenance" has done to their imports and leases. China has been outspending itself on military development, and when the costs of that development come and get ignored like they've ignored maintenance costs before, they'll be the same sack of hollow shit Russia turned itself into.
