African poachers use whatever, but mostly AKs. You don't need much when you can simply riddle them with bullets from the safety of a truck

You think they have a choice?

Yeah dude, those poachers carefully weighed all of the elite, newfangled gun options available to them, and then settled on the FAL after much deliberation.

Imagine thinking the fal is still relevant when the scar17 and scar20 are out.

What about it is bait, moron? Do you really think some fat boomer gay shooting a .500 Jeffrey has taken more dangerous game than some Ngubu who literally lives in the plains of Africa and shoots 5 elephants and rhinos a day from his truck bed with a shitty 5 MOA FAL loaded with m80 ball? This is your brain on fudd spomer guntube mind poison.

The "bait" part is where you conveniently gloss over the false equivalence between being willing to riddle the animal with shots until one gets through (or, more charitably, being a good enough marksman taking the shot from an angle that allows you to hit the tennis-ball sized area on an elephant where .308's penetrative abilities are good enough to secure a one round stop) and wanting to reliably down it with a single shot, even from undesirable angles.

Sure, Karamoja Bell killed 2,000 elephants with some limpwristed 20th century .275 Rigby but literal PrepHolechud fudd spomer fan #128123 here thinks a .308 won't be able to. Thanks, moron!

It's not a matter of if .308 CAN kill big game, it's if .308 is better suited to killing big game than, you know, a big game cartridge.

                Many such cases. Sad!

Imagine thinking what WDM Bell was able to do and the way he hunted is a viable example. You’re either dishonest or delusional.
I’m still waiting on that video evidence that 308 can reliably take Cape buffalo, elephant, and hippopotamus with a shoulder shot.

Honestly it seems unbelievable that anything made of flesh and bone can survive a good hit by a 308 though I have never hunted dangerous game

Because it can't. It turns out 150 grains of lead going damn near 3,000 FPS to the vitals of any living thing are extremely devastating.
