Are monstrum optics legit? I have astigmatism. LPVOs work good for me, red dot sights usually don't work that well though. The only one I've ever liked is the burris fastfire 3. I'm looking at prism optics because I've heard they're good for astigmatism. Monstrum seems like a pretty cheap brand but the youtube videos I've seen praise them. Wanted to come to k to see if anyone has experience with prism optics, and would recommend monstrum or maybe some other brand
>Are monstrum optics legit?
No, it's airshit garbage. If you want a prism go Primary Arms or Vortex.
>red dot sights usually don't work that well though
You're shooting both eyes open right
monstrums are junk and heavy. DO what said or get glasses to fix your astigmatism
Yes of course I am shooting both eyes open. I know how to shoot but don't know much about brands that's all
No offence anon, it's just not something you can take for granted on here
I've browsed here enough to understand why you felt the need to ask that question, no problem
Just turn down the brightness on the dot. If you have to get a prism get the 1x pa micro.
reminder that a magnifier pretty much removes any astigmatism issue with red dots
What if I'd like to shoot at 1X though?
Glasses cannot fully correct astigmatism, specifically making it a problem for things like red dot sights (mine is very bad)
What makes the monstrum brand such dog shit? I believe you but want to know why
>What makes the monstrum brand such dog shit?
They're made with basically no quality control standards, with made by the lowest bidder in China. Their market is primarily people looking for the least expensive stuff possible on Amazon. PA and Vortex are also made in China, but they contract with reputable factories and have large-scale QC operations in the States.
Thanks brother, makes sense
Get the primary arms 1x prism. Monstrum is literal airsoft shit do you not know what that means? It means its made of cheap chinesium materials and to a low quality since it was never intended to survive recoil impulses the shit optics die or get shaken to death lose their zero have soft metal mounts or screws that strip or break also causing you to lose zero and can have soft shit turrets that can also fuck up be stripped warp shear off and cause you to lose zero.
>want to know why
airsoft optics are primarily made to look like an optic. to the extent that their optics actually work, they are designed to work on something that has a maximum range shorter than a pistol, with less recoil than an air rifle. If you put it on an actual rifle and try to use it at even a short rifle distance e.g. 100 yds you will discover several unfortunate things. (1) it won't focus properly (2) it won't zero properly because (3) it will keep shifting its point of impact as you shoot it until (4) one of the internal lenses breaks free from its mounts altogether. The Primary Arms SLx 1X is only a few hundred dollars, and has a good reputation for actually working as intended on actual rifles.
bare minimum prism optics are primary arms shit. dont cheap out
I have their LPVO, it's alright and I like its "generic scope" looks. At x1 it's pretty much a prism.
No they are fragile garbage. Holosuns and primary arms prisms are great budget optics if you can’t afford aimpoints, acogs, or elcans.
As many others have said no, they're airsoft tier. That being said they work just fine for plinking with my .22s. If you need to put optics on 3 rimfire rifles for less than 300 bucks go for it, otherwise stay away. And their illuminated shit sucks, the glow from the LED is so unfocused it washes out the reticle. But again, 22 for plinking.
If you want a poverty chink prism, just get a Vector Paragon
Op here, I ended up buying a burris AR-1X prism because it was on sale and i have good experiences with both Burris LPVOs and the one red dot.
The only thing wrong with Burris is that haters constantly confuse it with Bushnell for some reason.
>Monstrum.
They hold zero on 556 guns and don't shift
Are water resistant (don't know if water proof)
Are sturdy
Have good mount systems, parts and screws.
I'd say they are good for an AR15 but i can't say for 762/30cal guns
right now primary arms owns the poorfag optics game. vortex owns the lower-mid optics game and holosun owns like 80% of the red dot game.
Monstrum is about where Holosun was five years ago, gaining a reputation but not fully established as a good brand. The only thing I have from Monstrum is a bubble level and it's okay I guess.
Anon even the sightmark prisms were better.
