Potential brace SBR ATF decision

If the decision is made to classify pistols with braces as SBR, is this a way to get a free stamp?

more like the ATF uses it to create a registry of houses to shoot dogs after "losing" the grandfather paperwork.

No, you idiot. Tax stamps aren't even expensive enough to worry over. The point is literally inviting the Feds to frick your ass.

Brutal truth, imagine paying to put yourself on a registry

Maybe. Nobody knows, and everyone has their tinfoil hat on with what the ATF is gonna do.
Me personally? If I can get a free stamp while also being able to remove the cope stock, I will be doing it
It's a very spicy take but these were designed as an aid for disabled. If normal people are just gonna shoulder them anyway, is it really a brace at that point?
NFA is moronic don't get me wrong but braces and shit like forced reset triggers give the gun community a bad rap
All these guys going "TEE HEE" because they're getting eerily close to an NFA item are the problem
Can't blame them for trying but then people get panties in a wad when they lose.

braces are beautiful because they operate on what is technically correct and words have meaning

if a rifle of less than 16 inch barrel and no stock is to be considered a "handgun" then a stock you can put your arm through is absolutely just a brace

atf and antigun gays wanna argue semantics well here we are; but it is INSANE to think an unelected agency can change the agreed upon definition for the past decade on a whim

Then 10 years ago or whenever these things became a thing they should have said "no we aren't going to allow this"

I don't like this idea of turning people into felons overnight. This is just like the bump stock ban just this time around you'll be put on a list

I agree that these things exist to skate around laws but the ATF could have done something before god knows how many were sold.

The NFA is an unconstitutional law anyway, and bureaucrats can get fricked and slotted, in no particular order.

You dipshit you have to prove you are using a pistol brace, not a stock.

4 inches of polygonally rifled pipe is not an act. It is not a crime in the philosophical sense. A steel bolt with a fixed firing pin is not an evil deed. It is an inanimate objects.

I bet you also thought bump stocks were ok to get banned because it gives gun owners a bad rep too right?

I thought they were OK to get banned because they were so obviously not machine guns it would be overturned in short order (it was) and it gave us four years without Congress trying to pass an AWB. Now we've got Bruen v. NYSRPA to wienerblock further attempts.

      > If I can get a free stamp while also being able to remove the cope stock

You won't be able to. ATF will require photos of the gun with brace as part of the grandfathering application. Which means the gun will be tied to the brace and you won't be able to replace with a stock - otherwise why require a photo of the gun?

To prove that you even own a brace and aren't just taking the chance to get a free SBR/SBS stamp for any gun you want.

I do wonder if a brace ban would result in a ADA lawsuit. That would really be something.

They are trying to skirt that by not completely banning but instead regulating them to death. The Form 4999 points system makes building a legal braced pistol almost impossible and much of it is completely arbitrary and the and ATF agent could just claim whatever didn't count as safe just because. It even includes bullshit like having BUIS would disqualify the gun.

don't believe this if you don't want to, but I worked at an FFL in Florida for a while and SB tacticals owner would pop in on occasion. when we questioned him about the potential brace ban, he just mentioned something about an army of lawyers and the ADA before snickering and walking away

no way in fricking hell the ATF is going to give out free stamps to hundreds of thousands of people with braces. They’re going to just say get rid of the brace or get fricked. And then the Form 1 process is going to take as long as getting a can. Gayest timeline. But at least Ukraine is winning, right guys?

they estimate theres anywhere between 10-40million braced firearms out there. Say that theres 1million out there that to try to get it stamped. theres no way the ATF could handle the influx of paperwork to hand out stamps. they cant even handle their current load. Which would then ask the question of what are people supposed to do for the year+ wait while waiting for thepaperwork to go through

        >what are people supposed to do for the year+ wait while waiting for the paperwork to go through
they're supposed to hand them in to the ATF for safekeeping.

Unfortunately it fricks with the ability to keep it loaded and concealed (i.e. in a vehicle) a right most states do not afford rifles or SBRs.

No. It's a way to freely register your gun and have a huge amount of administrative overhead strapped to it at risk of mistake and being charged with a felony.

Also for guns that can have the brace removed and have nothing there but a backplate that nothing can be attached to, do these stay pistols?

I think so. Denver has AWB for rifles with 15+ mags, but pistols with 30+ grandfathered mags are gtg.

I hope for all the people that accept the amnesty for an sbr that there 3x's as many people 3d printing bbbbrrrrring for sbr submissions to back up the NFA submission process.

I've only heard about the SB brace constantly but ive never seen anybody consider the Gearworks brace as still just a brace
it's completely different, requires a proprietary buffer tube and is literally made to open outwards for your arm to rest on
are you telling me this is also going to be considered a stock?

Fold that little piece in and it's identical to a regular stock.
Embarrassing that people here are doing mental gymnastics to justify braces, when all of you already know you don't care about the justification and ultimately subscribe to "shall not be infringed" ideology.

Braces are already a cope for the infringement of not being able to own an SBR without paying a tax and being on the atf shit list

they're also a useful way to get around state laws about having loaded rifles in cars

You can look over the worksheet and guess, but many of the criteria are subjective so two different atf agents would probably get different scores judging it.

they will try to frick you and drum up charges anyway they can. they charged fps russia for removing/modifying a serial number on a weapon because he spraypainted one of his guns

It’s going to wind up in court the way that the frames and receiver rule is. Not sure how long it will drag out. If we are lucky it will be a disability org taking the ATF to court and they can win.

I don't know, no one does.

If it is going to just end up as a effectively a free SBR stamp then frick it, I'll probably submit it for all the stuff I was intending to SBR anyhow since frick paying $200 every fricking time.

If we're stuck using the brace and can't swap for a stock, then there's no fricking point. I'll just SBR my shit slowly.

If there’s an amnesty you’ll still have to file paperwork.

and the government gets to dictate waht you do with that property to an even greater degree than normal, NFA paperwork is horseshit
