They have to be kept in aignment by heavy American troop presence (can't have a heel turn with that much material in hand), but Poland being radically more robust militarily than Germany is good for the long term 'Atlanticist' West's stability. The blocking force needs to be right up front and in immediate reaction distance to the Baltic states.
