It's currently better than Germany's and it's going through a massive rearming process, but who knows how well that could translate into fighting.

Ain't 90% of Germany's problem dumbass bureaucracy preventing their guys from being actually equipped, and if you give them equipment they are actually pretty good? They just, you know, never have it unless they borrow it.

        Anonymous

Kind of. Even before the war Germany's army was one of the top 10 best funded armies on the planet. The problem is that the German public was SO worried about corruption, the anti-corruption process costs so much, a corrupt military would have been cheaper.

I.e. it took 10 years and hundreds of millions for a simple order of US helmets to arrive. Why? Because they needed to put it into field testing to check whether the helmets work on German heads. They needed to test helmets. That were already used in battlefields in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria...

The new minister of defense is getting rid of a lot of the bureaucracy, reducing the amount of "extra sausages" in terms of equipment and creating more of a standard in equipment so larger orders can be made in bulk. If specialization is THEN needed you can take those standard pieces and just modify them. Out of necessity he is quite a competent figure since the emergency of rearmament made the leftist government give up their "gender parity" rule because of it, because normally either his role would have had to been held by a woman or another minister would have had to give up his position to be replaced by a woman but neither happened.

          Anonymous

That's because US equipment is substandard, cheaply made, and usually only exists to provide kickbacks for the American MIC. Only Europeans know how to conduct proper warfare.

That's Greens for you. Shame they were ever allowed into power.
Another fun fact: Our Secretary of Commerce's qualifications are "co-author of children's books". Green party too.

Reminds me of that old communist joke:

Tito is visiting the nail factoy
So he asks some random worker; how many nails can you make in one day? Worker says 1000. Tito: this is a disgrace! I can make 100 000. So tito take's his tools and starts to woork... at the end of day, Tito is worn down but he menaged to make 100 000 nails and he fulfiled producion plans by 150%.
Satisfied, he turns to that worker and says; 'That is a way to do it', but worker corresponds; 'yes comrade tito, but you are turner, I am college professor'

they are the only ones getting things done after years of reformer shit. but don't worry, we will vote reformer shit back into power and then get nothing done again for decades. germany doesn't want things to change and it has become obvious. the greens are literally carrying this government and the only objection one can have is that they actually also make green politics (how dare they).

These aren't handouts, it's compensation for opportunity cost and maintaining a stronger military as a border state. We don't exactly criticise the EU, we criticise entitled homosexuals like you and Germans bureaucrats who try to sneak in regulations that benefit them at our expense into EU law.

It's ridiculous to see cucks from Western Europe get absolutely buttblasted when some other country uses its bargaining power to get a better deal. Most Poles are well aware of that, the problem is all the moronic German commoners b***hing about the whole deal and German elites constantly trying to meddle in our political affairs.

The truth is that if Germans didn't step in, Americans would've done it and the butthurt would've likely been even more immense. It's just that it's easier and more natural to do business with your immediate neighbors - but by god, do the Germans make a convincing case for us to start ditching them because of all the baggage they force on you when you enter into an economic relationship with them.

They genuinely provide the shittiest leadership in the entire Western world, and despite all their frickups they demand all the continental nations to accept them as rulers. The occasional German politician throwing around Buzzwords and declaring in broken english how "germany iz zeh global leader in XYZ" or how "germany needs to lead europe" is nothing more than hot air and not a demand to be accepted as rulers, jesus

What projection? Poland didn't have the clout to have an impact on migration-related policies, gas deals with Russia, or the way we approach nuclear power across the continent. It's not exclusively Germany's fault, but most of that nonsense can be attributed to Merkel and EU officials who were either German or under the influence of Germany's soft power. If anything, Poland has been vindicated because of the war since everything we've been saying about Putin's ambitions and the Russian threat turned out to be true.

This fricker thinks that the inflows to Central Europe should be 0% and that outflows to Germany and other Western economies should be left as they are because they are entitled to the fruits of our labor.

This whole deal was fairly acceptable (unless you're from Czechia, like what the hell are you doing bros) back when it was all about growth, markets and labor access. But once you start adding constant EU meddling and nagging and all the black propaganda exploiting the sense of entitlement of Germans and the French it started getting insufferable.

Kek, you didn't know? Charities and anti-corruption measures are some of the most corrupt places in modern democratic nations. China's political purges are run through anti-corruption systems while American deep state bribery is laundered through NGOs. Traditional money in a suitcase type corruption is mostly limited to third-world zones like Russia or Africa.

Like Canada's healthcare system where you literally have more administrators than doctors & nurses, so nobody can get a family doctor anymore and taxes just get pissed into this black hole of office workers who do frickall.

Article is comparing PPP (Poor people points) instead of true GDP and also assumes the rate of GDP gain/loss maintains the same for both nations respectively. You saw similar projections with China supposedly going to surpass the US' GDP by around this time going back ages when their GDP growth was at its peak in the double digits. Obviously that slowed down substantially in 2022 and is unlikely to get back anywhere close to the growth rate they saw prior. Similarly the UK is going through a period of relative decline due to BREXIT, but given time and renegotiating trade deals they should be bouncing back. They will never be at the same rate as pre-BREXIT but they will also not be in terminal decline.

Articles like these are written by economists and economists are gigantic hack frauds pretending that their field is a science and relies on everything being the same in perpetuity.

Britain’s economy is just that fricked. Contrary to what the yanks think, it’s not Brexit, (if the EU is so great why don’t you join it? Didn’t think so) it’s that we can’t build anything and our energy prices are through the roof. The ratio of income of to house prices has been the US’s peak but all over the country and for about ten years. Successful industries like bio science can’t build lab space. We can’t build infrastructure. We can’t build power plants or connect them to the grid. Our Conservative Party is useless and not remotely conservative or pro free-market so the British people are having to triangulate their own politicians by voting in the Reds just to force the Conservatives to conduct a massive Purge and get their act together. The whole process will take about seven years if we get it right first time.

It’s been Blairism since 1997. The laws that produced the building/planning issues was introduced in the 50s, but it’s taken a while for the impact to be felt. Thatcher complained about rising house prices in the 90s.

Highest tax burden since WW2 is Thatcherism apparently.
Refusing to lower corporation tax to the level it was for most of Labour’s reign? Thatcherism.
Constantly subsidising demand with housing, energy and childcare instead of improving supply? Classic Thatcherism.

To be fair, they have too goddamn many of them inside a country the size of a post stamp. Even with the best intentions, you're gonna have massive problems in the long run due to concentration per square mile alone. These farmers were sold sunshine and rainbows constantly, with nobody willing to pump the brakes due to large industry players lobbying to keep up the facade of infinite growth. They should really cut down on the giant cattle factories and invest instead in smaller farms with quality products, with a focus on better prices and compensation.

          Dairy Farmer here
Only 8,000 dairy farms left, used to be almost 100,000 40 years ago, more and more insane regulation- now they're paying us literally not to farm, re-wilding and other bullshit. Essentially DEFRA is trying to micro-manage the entire industry, nationalisation via regulation- its why food has gone up higher than inflation, though if your the last one standing, you get to reap the profits- average dairy farm net income went up 57% from £80k to £140k in 2021/2022 alone, barely anybody knows how to do it anymore- people think its for morons -good luck giving a £350,000+ gross revenue average dairy farm business with robots (70% have them),tractors and all sorts of machinery and enough infrastructure to feed 1,000+ people, an average £4,000,000+ capital to maintain and run to a pair of random blokes on the street, - Yes it needs to be just two to keep labour costs low enough to generate a profit and they will have to do everything from being a mechanic to a vet to a plumber etc, to actually run it competently. Of course of the government actually put itself in charge of running it, they would need a plumbing/builders/vet/machinery certs/licences, insane health & safety/ CSCS cards etc, etc, etc, so much bureaucracy would be required that the entire country would literally starve or food would go up 3x/4x.

Russia might not like the EU but they damn sure don't like the UK. They don't see Germany and France as eternal enemies like they do the US. They see the UK and the US as being the ones that keep France/Germany from staying Russian allies. The other three always gravitate towards each other before being pulled apart.

So I don't see how anything he's saying defending Brexit is pro-Russian. It was inevitable that leaving the EU would cause trade and travel disruptions but that's a temporary phase that was to and has been ironing itself out as alternative agreements and supply chains get worked out.

I used "domestic morons" as an umbrella term that covers your corporate scumbags and politicians too, because you need to be moronic to undermine your power by abusing the goodwill and trust of the population for short-term gain like that. I'm not going to point fingers or defend anyone here, because I'm not an American and it's not my business.

I'm just making a rather obvious observation - getting defeated by a foreign adversary is going to hurt you and won't solve your domestic problems. Based on historic evidence, it is in fact likely to make them much worse.

Brexit is just part of the issue, but UK has been on a downward trajectory since 08.
The issue is, it's entire political and media elite are like, peak true believer Neoliberals and have built their entire economy around the City Of London neglecting everything else. Because they are Neolib true believers, they actually believe bullshit Neoclassical garbage like Austerity being good for the economy, so they've implemented such a struct regime of austerity on the UK for the past 15 years that even the fricking IMF of all people are like "this is purely ideological and you're running your country into the ground".
UK had the chance to get out of the trap with Corbz, but instead, decided to vote for Johnson and Brexit, then purge the entire left out of politics, replacing them with the pro-austerity, FIRE Blairites who got the UK into this shit state to begin with.
The UK will keep sliding down to I think southern europe tier and sit around there. It's a country in decline and it honestly gets worse here by the year. Understandable. Much like Buddhism in Japan, after a certain point aspects of the religion are so ingrained in the culture that even people who aren't religious still perform the rituals because it's part of cultural tradition now (if you ask the average Japanese person what half of the Buddhist rituals they do mean, they couldn't tell you). Religion and culture end up so intertwined that you can't really tell them apart anymore.

              Anonymous

While you're right that cultural tradition and religion have effectively become the same thing in both countries, it's still not a very good comparison because Poland is still a deeply religious country while Japan is an atheist nation in all but name. For Japan it's more of a "we've always done it this way and it's worked out so far, why change?"

Wow 100+ posts in a thread about Poland yet some British c**t makes it about their future thirdworld shithole.

Regarding the topic at hand, this anon is correct . Poland has a staffing problem with their volunteer army because shockingly, like every other Western country, they pay their people like shit and their military is run by delusional boomers who let their previous MIC rot. So what does Poland do to fix this problem? Buy a bunch of hardware but not actually fix the problems with their military.

        Anonymous

Unironically buying a bunch of hardware can in a way help fix the lack of volounteers. Theres a difference between serving in an army with modern equipment and one where you would most likely be stuck with soviet shit, with the latter not doing wonders when it comes to creating enthusiasm to serve in could-be recruits

        Anonymous

I agree that our army has many problems and it would probably not fare much better than Ukraine. Especially now that most of the heavy equipment got sent to Ukraine.
People saying otherwise obviously have no fricking idea what's going on.

          Anonymous

Polish soldiers b***hing about us sending heavy equipment to Ukraine seem to forget that realistically the only other option was to send them in along with their AFVs.

I wouldn't really mind, but imagine how loud the part of the army that's complaining right now would REEEEEEEE if it came to that.

MON should probably put more focus on improving morale and communicating to the soldiers what their role is in the current political situation. Many people who serve in the army seem to be confused and frustrated about being neglected above everything else.

It's understandable to a certain extent, but a lot of the shit people say in private isn't healthy for the force.

Whut? WW2 Poland's army was a husk hollowed out by a decade of corruption that was beaten by the Germans in little over two weeks. It was one of the most pathetic showings in the entire war. The Soviets didn't enter the war until after the bulk of the Poles had already been crushed. The only 'success' the Poles had was retreating out of the country with what remained of their army.

          Anonymous

I am talking corruption, anon. The kind of corruption that resulted in a significant percentage of Poland's army lacking ammunition, food, water and working guns. The usual corruption you get after an authoritarian strongman launches a coup on a democracy so gerrymandered that its voter base had become disillusioned with democracy as a concept. Which allowed the authoritarian strongman to install himself and his cronies in key positions not based on merit, but loyalty. While nationalizing key industries, allowing his friends and family to personally profit off the country's wealth while disenfranchising the middle class.

Poland's WW2 military was just another thing that got looted by the dictator and his cronies.

You still benefit massively from Poland being a part of this funky Union, so shut the frick up, mind your own business and, most importantly, get off our fricking lawn.

Poland fought nazis and commies before and during WW2. The nazis treated them as sub-humans and threw them in camps. The Soviets could never 1v1 them and setup a communist puppet government in violation of Yalta. They did this because they knew in free and fair elections the Poles would reject communism. Thus both the far left and far right hate Poland but for different reasons.

what i've seen of poland recently has been impressive. for one, they actually have productive industries. it's equal parts hilarious and tragic that the UK has been mismanaged and asset-stripped so badly. not only is our GDP set to be overtaken by poland's GDP, but poland's GDP isn't being propped up by explosive immigration, property speculation, and little else.
