my gay tankie brother unironically thought this one week after the invasion started (and went straight to shit), he was saying putin was planted by the US to disenfranchise russia (as if they don't do that enough themselves)
he doesn't think that anymore, instead now he just blames putin for "ruining russia" (he loves stalin of course, frick's sake)
he only has xi and hamas to worship now, times are really tough for him and his fantasy of a gay multipolar communist world run by people that would hang him on the spot
other great take from him: pearl harbor was orchestrated or at least allowed to occur by the united states so that we could enter the war proper

They are both manufacturers and contractors. They can send people out to survey and help with maintenance. Constellis also do the same thing, but they are more focus on backfilling for general labor than anything.

      >Risking their bacon in Ukraine is not something that would interest them when they could make more flying the red-eye from NY to London for Delta.
Yeah, I dunno about that. I could easily see them getting huge amounts of cash for very little (albeit dangerous) work that would effectively just be the cherry on top of the MiG-killing fantasies they've had ever since seeing Top Gun as a kid.

        >work that would effectively just be the cherry on top of the MiG-killing fantasies they've had ever since seeing Top Gun as a kid.
F-16 ops in Ukraine will either be bomb-truck tossing pgms and then turning and burning while dumping flares or bvr spam followed again by a turn and burn. It's the most boring shit they could be doing aside from training. You'll get a little adrenalin while you climb to engagement altitude and some more while you run but that's about it. They wont come within 20 miles of the line of contact or like 50 miles of an enemy fighter.

          >climb to engagement altitude
*Because they will be flying NOE until they climb for weapons delivery because they airspace is so stupidly hot.

If it's now legal to hire contractors, I'd like to see what exactly the roles are that are defined by the order, if there are limits. Frontline and armed PMC's in Iraq were, however effective or not, a PR disaster for the US in the long run, but I'd not object to pilots. Especially given the long, long history of the USSR and then Russia sticking their own nationals directly into the wienerpits of militaries engaged in conflict all over the world.

I've always attributed the German homosexualry in regards to simping for Russia to be some kind of deeply ingrained feelings of ancestral guilt + hating the US for domming them since WW2.

If it's now legal to hire contractors, I'd like to see what exactly the roles are that are defined by the order, if there are limits. Iraq was a very different sort of war really. You wouldn't have Blackwater rolling around in Urban areas shooting at random civilians because they got spooked in Ukraine. I imagine any PMCs would be mainly in more technical roles, static security, training Bradley crews, and POSSIBLY some ex-SoF guys doing high speed shit.
Honestly for the high speed type shit one I would not have high hopes in regards to their performance because they would be operating with way less support than what they're used to.
