Anything SOF is a meme. Plate carriers don't protect the neck because they only are designed against bullets and have no consideration for fragmentation. Sidearms just take away ammo for the rifle. A World War cartridge belt wrapped ammo all around the body. A pistol belt for officers had no suspender and space was taken up for the pistol magazine pouch and holster. MOLLE is the same because the groin protector blocks the front of the belt. You would halve your ammo today because all ammo is carried in the front. Back then the ammo pouches wrapped around but not anymore since the M1956 webbing. The double pistol magazine pouch takes up too much space.

If you have a rifle you shouldn't be carrying a pistol but more mags for the rifle instead.
Realistically assess whether or not you will be spending enough time in a vehicle to justify it.
Further assess whether or not you're sufficiently trained, or likely to become sufficiently trained in using a sidearm in and around a vehicle.
The big reason many would carry them like that is because they were dealing with detainees. Fast and clear access to the sidearm obv helps when they act up.

It depends on the gun and how you carry the gun and in what circumstances you carry that gun.
Leg holsters are perfectly usable in a vehicle, compared to high waist holsters.
What you're brewing up on your carrier there to is an unnatural pull, if that would be a better retention holster your gun would get stuck because you don't have a straight pull on it.
If its not a retention holster its in a prime position for an assailant to get a hold of it.
Also you sweep whoever is standing next to you.
Get a good safariland leg holster.
mounting a full-size pistol wastes a lot of space but it also means you can get to your sidearm easily while driving. a better choice would be a glock 43

This sort of thing is done by drivers... The dude in the supply truck has a use for this and he doesn't have the butt of the gun digging into his hip. He can reach for it quickly and get it into action fast. If you're doing anything else besides operating a piece of machinery, then no. You can do better with the real estate.
