People here laugh at Russia

But would the US perform any better when fighting a conventional war against a motivated enemy? The US hasn't fought a conventional war in 30+ years, and the population is now weak.

    >But would the US perform any better when fighting a conventional war against a motivated enemy?
    >three largest airforces in the world are the USAF, USN, and USMC
    >fully streamlined tanks of M1A2 SEP2 or 3, rather than a hodgepodge of 80s vehicles, reserve vehicles are also M1A2s or M1A1s
    >most mechanized army in the world, lavishly equipped with trucks, LUVs, and movers down to the platoon or even squad level
    >no shortage of PGMs, can afford to sling them at any threat
    >full access to GPS to prevent units from getting lost
its now pretty blindingly obvious that the US would steam roll the russians back to the urals

My favorite part is when they bring up Chosin reservoir. A situation where they had everything going for them and still despite being split up and cut off in multiple groups the Americans still managed to regroup and retreat while taking immensely less losses than the Chinese. Also love how they hold it up as a win because they managed to keep their moronic neighbor from ceasing to exist because they were completely routed by one US general after their moronic neighbor began a pointless war of aggression.

Until the SMO, which might not even qualify due to it being a "special military operation" rather than a war, neither has Russia.
      >and the population is now weak.
Judging from Russian performance, so is the Russian.

Lets imagine that the roles were reversed, and the US was invading a Russia aligned Ukraine. Lets say they invade from Poland. First off they'd actually have been able to properly do SEAD and so when they say the whole of the Ukranian airforce has been wiped out, it's actually true. They will also hunt down every AA system Ukraine has and secure total air superiority, after which any large scale Ukranian troop movements become basically impossible. They might not deem it necessary, but if they did, chances are they'd actually take Odessa after a successful landing from the Black Sea. The Russian Black Sea Fleet either sits by like a bunch of b***hes or gets sunk in a onesided battle judging by the state of the Moskva even prior to sinking. Even in our timeline, the Russian Black Sea Fleet exists because Turkey lets it. In fact, Russia talking the Turks into closing their strait might be only real defence against a US naval landing. When the actual invasion by ground troops happen, they won't run out of gas and supplies after a day's drive into the country, but a couple of reenactments of Nasiriyah might still happen, but not on the scale on which Russia did it. Honestly the war will likely devolve into asymetric warfare and simply stop being conventional. The sheer fact Russia is still forced to fight this like a conventional war alone is a testament to how inferior it is to the US.

Those Iraqi's used every doctrine taught to them exactly how the USSR showed them to use their equipment. Everything from their defence in depth, when they lie-up somewhere, using their SAM and AA systems in layers, how to run their armour formations and use them in combination with motorised infantry. Plus a lot of them were hard c**ts that managed to somehow survive the Iran-Iraq war which gave enough of them some actual combat experience.

Its not that Iraq was even a rubbish military, they had fricking BULK amounts of stuff. The unfortunate thing was they came up against someone who spent the last 40 years figuring out exactly how to tear that battle doctrine up into confetti

      >We then visited our host unit’s motor pool, stationed just outside Moscow. By that time, the Russian regimental commander and I had become friendly, and as he walked us toward the display of vehicles, he proclaimed that I was lucky to be one of the few Americans to see a Russian T-72 up close. With tongue firmly in cheek, I told the translator to tell the colonel that having fought in Desert Storm, I had seen many T-72s—but none of them still had the turret attached. The interpreter hesitated and asked me if I really wanted to say that to his colonel. Nodding my head, I watched my new friend’s face turn red, but then transition to a slight grin. “Those were the export versions we gave the Iraqis.”

The last time we fought a conventional army it was the Iraqis who were the 4th largest army in the world at the time and was comprised of veteran units such as the Iraqi Republican Guard - a unit that took over Kuwait in just 6 hours. The US went across the world and were outnumbered in an offensive operation that saw Iraq fall in just 3 weeks with barely any US casualties and catastrophic losses for Iraqis.

Did...did you guys just miss desert storm? Seriously what kind of question is this? Conventional warfare is the kind of warfare the US excels in. It's what its entire military doctrine is based around. It's protracted asymmetric counter insurgency that it struggles with (although to be fair no nation has really figured that out yet). If the roles were reversed and the US was invading the Ukraine their entire military structure would have been dismantled within a month and they would be 8 months into the 15 year long occupation where they try and fail to suppress local guerilla fighters. The kinds of logistical and intelligence issues Russia is running into right now are exactly the areas that the US dominates in.
Let's be real. The US is a lot of things but "unsupplied" isn't one of them.

Actually most of those places either didn't get punished for genocide (USSR started and lost the cold war over communist ideology, nothing more and nothing less), and you're trying to run away from the stupid comment you just made that anybody is ever, ever, ever, ever, ever going to be nuked over genocide. They won't. The end.

By the way genocide isn't just murder, it's also full scale displacement through mass violence or threat of mass violence. Plenty of that going on.

Saddam didn't die like you think he did, btw.

Yeah, they would. If Russia decided tomorrow to try to genocide poland, they would be glowing by the end of the week, full stop.
If China decided to genocide the Japs, they would be glowing by the end of the week, full stop.

Right, because they attacked Poland and the because of the nuclear policies of the two sides interacting to produce a nuclear war. Because of an attack. Not because of a genocide. It's the attack that triggers the nuclear war.

No really, Saddam didn't die like you think he did, you are apparently a zoomer who was just too young to know about his trial and execution.

                honestly, i kinda agree
the old days of interventions everywhere are gone
unless they're a friend of ours or have some other strong political pull, the US probably will say that genocide is bad but won't do anything kinetic

Saddam was tried and executed. Where does the idea come from that he died in his cum hole?

    yes they would
america's military capabilities fighting a regular army are bar none
asymetrical warfare is something else entirely
the fact that american forces can be stationed in butt frick no where valleys without heavy weaponry on standby against local insurgent forces that outnumber them big time is something else
    logistically and militarily

    >But would the US perform any better when fighting a conventional war against a motivated enemy? The US hasn't fought a conventional war in 30+ years, and the population is now weak.
Back when the Iraq war first started, the US troops got FRICKED UP just like the Russian troops in Ukraine
That's because American troops were sent to fight without body armor or vehicle armor, and the enemy exploited that weakness

No, no they didn't moron. In both Iraqi invasions the US suffered almost no casualties, or equipment losses. All of which you can verify from the plentiful and easily accessible information provided from both invasions

Yeah, just like Russia in Ukraine.

Checked. The USA would mop the floor with any country in the world 1v1 in a conventional or nuclear war. It’s un conventional wars and Insurgences where they get their asses kicked, even then they can occupy places indefinitely.

    lets be honest here
this war of all wars the US wouldve won easily
kiev in 3 days? no problem

of course they wouldve been fricked over by the subsequent insurgency, but they would have buck broken the inital resistance and the official armed forces without breaking a sweat

against a motivated enemy? it would be VERY costly, but heres some things the US can use to leverage an advantage

    >allies
    >air superiority
    >excellent logistics
    >good intelligence to let you know you are not walking into a meat grinder

theres a reason why the US has not invaded Iran or North Korea, they would win, but it would be a giantic shit show and not worth it unless those chucklefricks did something drastic that forced the US to attack
