They're called 'reddit' because that word means 'stupid, tired, overdone, transparently performative, worthless' on PrepHole.
I don't the Galactic Republic or CIS had laws of war. It had been over a thousand years since any kind of large scale conflict, and their last one was with the Sith, who thought unnecessary suffering was based and sigma.
>obi wan does a fake surrender
The movie makes a point of Obi-Wan drawing out the negotiations so he doesn't actually surrender, he just talks about it
Did you watch the clip for more than five seconds? Obi-Wan never communicated any cease-fire order to his troops. They proceed to discuss the terms of surrender, and never finished the discussion, let alone reach an agreement, let alone sign any surrender or order any troops to stand down. Clones and droids are literally still fighting as they speak.
>You will never fight under the command of General Obi-Wan Kenobi
And why would I want to do that? He was an objectively terrible general and wasn't even that good of a Jedi. I mean for Christ's sake, the dumbass couldn't even figure out that his Padawan was shagging a royal cunt (or worse, he knew and covered for him, which had catastrophic consequences).
Making Jedi generals were a move as stupid as selling rank to nobles.
Man, this is a gripe I've always had with Star Wars. Everytime they had a war, the Old Republic would just hand out general officers' commissions to every Jedi that had a pulse, despite virtually none of them having any tangible level of prerequisite academic, professional, or administrative experience at commanding troops.
Let's take the super gay and retarded nu-Clone Wars series for instance. They give that 14 year old ayyy lmao schoolgirl, Ass Soaker, or whatever her name is, a general's commission on her first day as a Padawan. Bitch probably hasn't even had her first period yet and she has literal life-and-death power over at least a brigade's worth of clone troopers (3,000-5,000 men). It seems to have occurred to literally no one that just because she has
>a laser sword >a tight ass (and presumably a tight dicky) >an above-average physique >the ability to do mind tricks on everyone except Space-Israelis
doesn't mean that she has the organizational skills to keep several thousand men clothed, fed, and drilled just while in-garrison. That's nothing to say trying of organizing them in the heat of battle.
Obi Wan and Plo Koon were probably the only half decent Jedi generals to be under in the Clone Wars, and Anakin if you could stand a little bit of crazy. Everyone else was barely competent at best and actively malicious towards their own troops otherwise. I personally wonder how much of Order 66 was clones just being brainwashed from mental programming as opposed to them itching to get some payback on what might as well have been some self righteous retards with lightsabers getting their literal brothers ground into meat by the thousands as if they were droids themselves.
>I personally wonder how much of Order 66 was clones just being brainwashed from mental programming as opposed to them itching to get some payback on what might as well have been some self righteous retards with lightsabers getting their literal brothers ground into meat by the thousands as if they were droids themselves.
Nah man, Lucas cucked out on compelling moral quandaries and retconned it so that the brain chips in their penises make them shoot the Jedi
>he knew and covered for him, which had catastrophic consequences
That's the POINT of the whole Samarran tragedy of the betrayal, anon - that the path the Jedi Order took to avoid death led them to it
The Prophecy had it that Anakin would destroy the Sith, so the Jedi excused his behaviour seventy-seven times, when ordinarily he wouldn't even be recruited let alone cashiered into the Agri Corps. Unfortunately the Jedi gave him too much leeway and created the monster that would destroy the Sith, yes, but them and half the galaxy as well in the process. Such is tragoedia dramatis.
And yes, Obi-Wan was complicit in that. He absofuckinglutely KNEW Anakin had a thing for Padme. Likewise, Padme KNEW Anakin was capable of slaughtering the Jedi, she'd seen him wipe out the Tuskens and excused that as well. Nor was Anakin blind to the fact that he was an utter shit; in his saner moments he would apologise to Obi-Wan for being a shit and contemplate leaving the Jedi.
to anyone who didn't know where this was going to end, this scene would look like Anakin finally turning over a new leaf.
>That's the POINT of the whole Samarran tragedy of the betrayal, anon - that the path the Jedi Order took to avoid death led them to it
I mean, yeah I get that part. That's one of the reasons I love the prequels despite they're occasional throwing of logic out the window. Hell I even managed to somewhat enjoy the last season of Game of Thrones for the same reason. Daenerys allowing her lust for power to completely go to her head is revealed to have devastating consequences and all of her court of fools were essentially complicit in this by tolerating her behavior and making no serious attempt to rein her in.
Everyone got so fucking caught up in the "game" (*insert shitty pre-season eight take about who's gonna be on the Iron Throne here*) that they forgot what the actual central message of the show was.
Anyway back to Star Wars...
Anakin and Padme were two profoundly dysfunctional people in a dysfunctional relationship that was pretty doomed to end violently and have dire consequences for both everyone around them and countless people across the galaxy. He should have been either been forced to sever the relationship with her or have his relationship with the Jedi Order severed.
Palpatine saw this and being the ruthless social climber that he was, exploited it to the fullest extent in classic Shakespearean fashion. Essentially Iago by another name.

Natalie Portman says she was purely taken away by Anakin's looks, charm, and heroics
I suppose she overlooked his darker side, thinking she could save him - heaven knows I've been there before... >or have his relationship with the Jedi Order severed
They were going to "after the war is over". It didn't help that Anakin was indeed extremely valuable to the war effort, he couldn't just leave.
>I suppose she overlooked his darker side, thinking she could save him
She might very well have been able to, but not in the manner that went about it. Trying to keep it a secret was the last thing she should have done. It essentially left them both open to blackmail (Palpatine took it a step further and successfully manipulated both of them). They should have either publicly flaunted it and simply accepted the consequences whatever they were or she should have made it clear to him that they could not pursue a relationship during wartime and that whatever they were going to do would have to wait.

Its not like sex and marriage was forbidden. Just very frowned upon. It would probably set any hope Anakin has of becoming a Jedi Master back a few years.
In one of the novels its flat out stated that Anakin and Padme, was planning to go public as soon as the war was over.

They more or less did fail to hide it from Obi-Wan and maybe Yoda and a couple of other Jedi; the Jedi let it pass because it didn't seem to be a real problem, and because Anakin was so needed for the war
Bear in mind that there is no turning back, it isn't possible for them to make the relationship public, the Jedi Order must not allow attachment; the one time they made an exception is this, and the Order was destroyed and half the galaxy dismantled

But now you're forgetting the OT. Luke heralded the Return of the Jedi™ and redeemed Anakin thanks to his attachment and love. I hate Grey Jedi fags but they, and my bro Kyle Katarn, have a point. It's how you use it. The Jedi died in the PT because, as shown on screen, they had become a reclusive, extremely dogmatic sect so afraid of emotions that it lead to their downfall.
The big lesson to be learned in both the Jedi's downfall and the Empire's defeat is hubris. >Jedi so sure that denying themselves any semblance of normal sapient socialization will save them blinded them to the threat they created >Sheev so confident in his own keikaku lead to him getting tossed down the DSII shaft
And that brings me to the sequel trilogy. It's not canon. That's all I have to say on Disney Wars

the scene in the Death Star Throne Room is widely misconstrued. Luke was tempted several times; with the lives of the Rebel fleet, then his sister, then himself. each time he FORESWORE attachment. he won by not fighting, which was the point of his retarded-ass plan. He repeatedly gets outmanouvered by his opposition. He then consistently uses his personal combat abilities as a crutch to compensate for his lacking tactical acumen.
Rahm Kota was a good tactician and strategist, and was the only Jedi with actual experience as an officer, having led an army during a brutal civil war on his home planet. Though he never used clones.
About half of the jedies didnt really see their clones as real people, and just used them as resources.
