I think I like my draco a lot. If you plan on shooting anything outside of 50yds get a real rifle. However having a legal sawed off shor barr... I mean pistol is great.
They're worthless unless you're a tank crewman or someone who wants to bring a rifle in a backpack to a public space. Compared to a pistol the draw time is a death sentence and you can't draw it in nearly as many situations (eg while tussling with someone).
It's not optimal for home defence, since the micro barrel saps some of your power. You can do better than a 6 inch barrel while keeping an agile package for CQB.
NTA, but I’ll counter that with: power and maximum velocity is not needed for <10 yard engagements inside a residence. If a cartridge is effective to 200 yards at x velocity, you can cut the barrel down such that the muzzle velocity equals x, and you’d be just fine. Also, super short rifles allow room for a can without getting too long or heavy, and that’s just what you want if you’re gonna fire high pressure rifle cartridges indoors (even 300 Blackout).
My answer to OP though is that PDWs should not be squished down rifles. They should be bullpups, or MP7-type semi-bullpups, or pistol chassis kits (even though from what I’ve seen, all the extant ones suck, but that doesn’t mean a great one can’t be purpose designed from the ground up). Ideally they are small enough to wear, like in a holster, but not necessarily conceal. Aside from FN and HK, the rest of the industry is pretty lazy about PDWs. Maybe they just aren’t needed enough to justify the expense of R&D and manufacturing, esp when a mk18 or any 300 blackout SBR can be shoehorned into the role semi-adequately. But it would be really neat if there were an intermediate category of guns between pistol and rifle. Can’t imagine they’d be useless
In my personal opinion they make much more sense for civilian ownership than any 16+ inch barrel rifle. No one wants to store or transport a full size gun with 16-20 inches of barrel that you dont need when you could have 10
I hate bullpups. That's point one.
Point two; >Maker Rex bullets >.300 190gr or .350 280gr >Expands like crazy >Quiet as shit >Uses AR parts, cheap! >Subsonic, so don't need huge barrel >Get a good can, shroud it under a big handguard
Ultimate home defense weapon or sneeki breeki type thang.
Shotguns with subsonic buckshot aren't as quiet (bore diameter mostly from what I understand?), and both the cans and ammo are annoyingly expensive comparatively, though handloading might mitigate a lot of that maybe?
My trunk can be deactivated from a switch in the glove box that requires the physical key from my fob to unlock. You would have to destroy the interior of the car with a crowbar to break into the trunk. People who get their guns stolen out of vehicles are retards who don't know how to secure their property. I bought a sedan because it's probably the safest style of passenger vehicle for storing guns. I can easily keep something the size of a Rattler or fullsize handgun in the spare tire compartment under the trunk mat when I leave the car parked.
I want to get a rattler with the matching Sig suppressor, but then I realize the whole build will cost $4k for something I don't really need so I don't buy it.

PDW more like, Pretty Dumb Weapon. heh, lets see you come back from that one

You aren't considering home defense

The pest PDW would be a micro bullpup chambered in .300blk.
Bullpups HATE. But also I'm a 6.8SPChad, so if I HAD to pick a bullpup, I'd have Magpul revive the PDR.
I want a suppressed Rattler to keep as my car carbine.
Cars are not gun safes.
That's why my sedan has a trunk.
I could just break in the cabin window and open the trunk.

PSA could get you the same thing for like $1500
Sure, but I don't really want one of those.
