NTA but webley did okay and it’s less fragile than a swing cylinder design against impacts and crane bending
Yes it can only handle low to moderate power cartridges but that’s what OP wanted

Top breaks going out of fashion historically was due to the metallurgy at the time not being strong enough for top break frames to support heavy loads. But we've had the tech to make strong top break revolvers since the 90s. The only reason we don't have them now is expense and lack of demand.

Swingout can bend severely from a strong impact. I’m always worried my PP will get bent while picrel could go mountain climbing

There’s already the MP412, the technology for a 357 topbreak is there. Potentially that is all a question of Russian factory defensive ammo all being shit so a western analog is farther off.

30 year old Russian vaporware that never entered production doesn't really prove much of anything.

God I was going to turn some PTFE rod from McMaster into some of these but life intervened and I never got back to it. It's just been sitting there for months. Did anything ever become of those threads?

The real "amusing" rounds are turned from Carbon Fiber, Fiberglass or high glass content Nylon rod.

They make a hell of a mess.
