The point is that the AUG is about the only bullpup that earns consistent respect, because it's a good rifle, and unfortunately there are a shitload of lazy sellers.
>The point is that the AUG is about the only bullpup that earns consistent respect
By who? PrepHole? The Tavor is quite well-regarded in normie circles, and they don't cuck their customers with dogshit barrels.
>Can't shoot heavy bullets accurately >Can't take advantage of higher velocity offered by bullpup barrels >Can't shoot much without wearing your gun out
List the practical advantages of the AUG. GO!
The barrels are interchangeable and quickly changed, you are meant to shoot it until is worn out then just switch to a fresh barrel , who knows how much money they save by not chrome lining them. You sure they aren’t nitrided ? Nitride makes the barrel surface super hard wearing. You probably would get an extra 5-10,000 rounds out of a chromed barrel .
They are nitrided. Not only will nobody complaining about AUG barrels never wear one out, even if they did, rebarreling an AUG takes about as long as reloading an MP5.
Being longer in a short OAL. If the barrel is only 16" then it's pointless.

>having the barrel length of a full-size assault rifle like an HK33 (15.4") or AK-101 (16.3") in a gun the size of an MP5 is POINTLESS >why even BOTHER if it doesn't have the OAL of a Colt Commando and a barrel extending well into the realm of diminishing returns for 5.56
Great news, idiot: Steyr regularly does runs of 20" barrels for people whose lives aren't complete without the ability to vibe check steel plates with M193.

Normal 16" barrel rifle's OAL: ~34"
Bullpup 16" barrel rifle's OAL: ~26"
Normal 26" OAL rifle's barrel: ~7"
Full advantage.
Fine for the people who only plan to blast dirt with the cheapest 55 grain they can get, but why not even offer quality barrels as an aftermarket product? I see 20" 1:7 chrome lined AUG barrels regularly sell for nearly $1000 on GB. Why doesn't Steyr want to get in on that action?
>Why doesn't Steyr want to get in on that action?
FN barrels are trash and don't meet Steyr's specification because Americans accept "M249 BRO!" garbage barrels sold by PSA. Steyr also isn't willing to ship their shit here since Steyr USA isn't important to them and America changes firearms policy like underwear. Nitriding is better anyway only the twist rate is a legitimate complaint.
I actually liked them a lot, it was the only bullpup I wanted. It’s a shame that by the time I had a decent enough job to afford one that Steyr cheaper out on the barrels.
>>Only offered in a 16" barrel
If you shop around there are 24in hbar barrel with integral bipods, and they're lined. Made by steyr even. Discontinued tho
They used to sell 20" 1:7 chrome lined rifle barrels too, but apparently stopped when they realized the main group of people buying them were CS kiddies buying them to post.
1. Glock only made their slides DLC for Gen5—before that, it was all one form of ferritic nitrocarburizing or another.
2. True, but you're the one claiming that a barrel treatment generally regarded as being just as good as chrome lining for semi-auto fire ACTUALLY exhibits wear characteristics comparable to bare metal; do you have a single fact to back that up?
>barrel treatment generally regarded as being just as good as chrome lining for semi-auto fire
No it's simply inferior, that's all there is to it. It's just cheaper and easier to manufacture and they don't need to throw out as many duds, they can just sell them. Ask yourself why no serious military uses that trash in any of their guns, even sniper rifles, which according to nitride proponents would be ideal candidates for the process because of low volume of fire. They use chrome even for them because the barrels last significantly longer even with low volume of fire. Nitride is strictly for civilian blasters because they know most civilian shooters won't care if their gun is durable and accurate far into the future.

>no serious military uses that trash in any of their guns, even sniper rifles>They use chrome even for them
Name five "serious militaries" using chrome-lined barrels for their sniper rifles.
>Here's our 5 spare barrels a year for the American civilian market
Functionally might as well not exist. You'd have an easier time just getting an old one on GB.
Waiting on back in-stock notifications and jumping on them has worked for me so far. For better or worse, the American AUG userbase isn't nearly as broad as it reasonably ought to be.
It's cool if you can actually get hold of one, but as far as I understand they're still nitrided and have the 1:9 twist rate. It's like...why. What is their goal in cucking their guns like this. They're worse than HK. At least HK actually will sell MR223s with good barrels even if you need to buy them as pistols and convert them and they cost an arm and a leg.
It is, honestly, pretty weird that, given that they're making barrels in the USA for the US commercial market, that the barrels in question aren't 1/8 or 1/7 twist.
>bought AUG with original 16” CL CHF barrel
Where are you seeing these for sale? As far as I can tell they don't exist anymore unless you buy an old one from the 80s on GB for 4k.
>Only offered in a 16" barrel
Incorrect. >Unlined
Incorrect. >With 1:9 twist
Correct, it's the superior twist for an universal rifle, the only reason you think otherwise is because you've been mindfricked by the US market, which shills 1:7" milspec barrels to you because that's what they make for the military.
The only reason the military uses 1:7" is to stabilize M856 longcats.
That'd be great, especiaslly considering that the production lines for their military and US commercial barrels are in different countries and can't possibly get mixed up or cause logistics problems for them.
I can't get over how the AUG has an integral front grip in 20 fricking 22, and about 2 inches of picatinny rail.
Probably one of the least modular rifles in the market at the moment.
They’re for non-trannies, so for you? No point.
The point is that the AUG is about the only bullpup that earns consistent respect, because it's a good rifle, and unfortunately there are a shitload of lazy sellers.
>The point is that the AUG is about the only bullpup that earns consistent respect

Nice try Rabbi

>Can't take advantage of higher velocity offered by bullpup barrels

1. It makes you seethe
2. It doesn’t wear a tiny hat
Why can't Steyr make a gun as good as IWI?
Do they come with complimentary diapers?

They might save money, but considering chrome lined CHF 18" X95s are the same price, they're sure as shit not passing on those savings to you.
I already paid with my yearly goyim tribute to Pissrael it should be free
They are nitrided. Not only will nobody complaining about AUG barrels never wear one out, even if they did, rebarreling an AUG takes about as long as reloading an MP5.
>Can't shoot much without wearing your gun out
You have never shot out a barrel
Depends what you mean by "shot out". I have put enough rounds through guns that groups opened up significantly even though there was still rifling.
I blew out your mom's "barrel".
>>Can't take advantage of higher velocity offered by bullpup barrels
what magical properties do you think a "bullpup barrel" has?
Being longer in a short OAL. If the barrel is only 16" then it's pointless.

Nobody shoots anything but 55gr 90% of the time anyway.
I got my eye on you, Hebrew.
Imagine shilling the tavor.
Barrel is fine and the reason that the AUG is more accurate than the 4moa tavor
>they don't cuck their customers with dogshit barrels
>shoots 5MOA in your path
Why waste money on a 77gr load if it only comes in 16"? 1:9 twist is for the best

Tldr; Americans.
>I see 20" 1:7 chrome lined AUG barrels regularly sell for nearly $1000 on GB
Where the frick do you see them for this price?
https://www.gunbroker.com/item/944930002
Actually that one might not even be CL/1:7 it might just be one of those F1 tactical ones.
Oh nice it's just $900 🙂
The only reason it still exits on the civilian market is because of the association with online video games.
I actually liked them a lot, it was the only bullpup I wanted. It’s a shame that by the time I had a decent enough job to afford one that Steyr cheaper out on the barrels.
They're cool, and you're gay.
I know they're cool, which is why I'm so mad that they're not actually good.
>>Only offered in a 16" barrel

1:9 is not the jack of all trades but 1:9 is better for 55gr bullets which everyone uses.
>unlined
They've always been chromed or Nitrided, homosexual.
Nitriding is as good as unlined.
>the nitrided slide on my Glock might as well be bare metal
okay moron
Glock slides aren't nitrided they are DLC. Pistol slides are also not subjected to nearly the amount of wear that the inside of a rifle barrel is.

Pee D uWu
You can quick swap the barrels in under 30 seconds.
Too bad they don't sell spare barrels, even the shitty new ones.
They literally do. They just can't keep up with demand. The last run of 20" barrels sold out in a day or two.
>Here's our 5 spare barrels a year for the American civilian market
Functionally might as well not exist. You'd have an easier time just getting an old one on GB.

it's due to being about one and a half times more expensive than it needs to be
It is, honestly, pretty weird that, given that they're making barrels in the USA for the US commercial market, that the barrels in question aren't 1/8 or 1/7 twist.
you only need 1/7 for heavy ass ball or tracers. you know you can shoot 62gr fine with a 1/10 twist right?
yeah but I need to be able to single-feed my 90gr match loads so I can shoot at 1000 yards
>bought AUG with original 16” CL CHF barrel
>bought new 20” barrel from V1 tactical
>???
>profit?
>bought AUG with original 16” CL CHF barrel
Where are you seeing these for sale? As far as I can tell they don't exist anymore unless you buy an old one from the 80s on GB for 4k.
Idk I got my gun from Pete like 5 years ago and Steyr confirmed it’s CL. They don’t make them anymore. Looks like you missed out
If you bought it 5 years ago and it's 16" I doubt it's actually chrome lined unless you bought an old one without realizing it.
It’s definitely chrome lined. It also has the left handed twist European threading. Like I said, this was confirmed by Steyr.
>Only offered in a 16" barrel
Incorrect.

1:8 .223 Wylde chamber is the best, tho
That'd be great, especiaslly considering that the production lines for their military and US commercial barrels are in different countries and can't possibly get mixed up or cause logistics problems for them.

And that's a good thing.
modularity is a meme, why do you want to glue a bunch of garbage to your rifle to make it heavier
rifle is fine
Even if it weren't, there's plenty of space on the AUG for an optic, light, and laser—you just have to be more creative and flexible than with an AR.
Because he's a braindead consoomer
Front grip is the best part of it. The fricker even folds!
>I can't get over how the AUG has an integral front grip in 20 fricking 22, and about 2 inches of picatinny rail.
Yeah, it's the greatest.
>I can't get over how the AUG has an integral front grip in 20 fricking 22, and about 2 inches of picatinny rail.
It's called sovl, little zoomzoom.
good to attempt to take over Nakatomi plaza, unless there's a cop inside of course.
What's the heaviest bullet that will reliably stabbilize in a 1/9 barrel?
my homosexual state only allows the 20" barrel one over some oal bullshit.
shoot V1 Tactical an email the next time they have 20" barrels and AUGs in stock at the same time and see if they can work something out for you
What?
It's for the cold which is something mutts, who live in climates conducive to every non-white race on the planet, wouldn't understand.
Why doesn't he have any fingers? Is this a weird European thing like how all British soldiers are right-handed?
Something to make the KelTecs look that much better.
It's like the Glock. It was a jumping off point, and every other company has been improving on it for several decades now.
*trying—unsuccessfully—to improve on it since
Small gun shoot hard
