    Why do they do this.
How is it even possible for them to do this?
Like I know it's just copying and pasting JPEGs at the end of the day, but still...

Most hilarious this about that is this those leaks became such a problem that MIC engineers are now asked if they play War Thunder on job interviews.

Why don't they just hire people whose job it is to just play War Thunder and leak fake information and harvest real data

They literally do, at least the UK for sure does. They have operations active to spread misinformation about vehicle statistics.

Correct me if I’m wrong but to date all ‘leaks’ on WT have been items that were already known or posted years before?

      >Correct me if I’m wrong but to date all ‘leaks’ on WT have been items that were already known or posted years before?
No, but most people hear "classified information" and think that it's some earth-shaking military secrets when it's a technician posting half a page of a technical document to win an internet argument by proving that the armor on vehicle X is ACHKSHUALLY 52mm instead of the 50mm observers estimated it at.

      Anonymous

Its more like people are posting details that were kept classified in order to frick over enemy R+D. Having slightly more armor than believed can be an advantage.

War thunder’s policy for “potentially classified information “ is anything after a certain date that isn’t explicitly declassified. So stuff gets removed all the time for violating that rule, and most of it isn’t actually classified, just not stamped “declassified “ at the top. And most of the stuff that is actually sensitive has been floating around on forums for ages already (like all the flight manuals the DCS community has found). Every once in a while you get some idiot posting actually new information. The only ones I can think of are a Brit who posted info on the challengers armor, a German who posted info on something about the eurocopter, and some poor Chinese guy who posted stats for one of their apfsds rounds

The warthunder leak meme is marketing. None of the notable cases have been significant. You can find more sensitive material on just about any system on random flashcard websites.

The Su57 "leaks" are even more annoying because they're invariably just a patent filing. Russia has lots of "patents" filed for their military technologies, largely unknown to western audiences.

Here, look: Omsk Transport Engineering Plant has just patented the technical.

It would be cool if there was a 0 Rank or -1 Rank class of vehicles in War Thunder that included Toyota technicals, various zigger frankensteins, WW1 armored cars, and other fricked up oddities.

It's a Russian estimate, not the actual RCS. It's like someone saying their 1980s V6 Mustang goes 300mph. The Su-57 is just an F-15C with a shitty weapons suite and the ability to do the cobra maneuver at airshows. That's all it is.

Against dogshit Soviet aircraft and 60 year old French fighters. But it's shit on by real 5th gen fighters like the F-22 and F-35. So Russia hypes this plane they've built 20 years into the 21st century, and what they've managed to make is a fighter that the US eclipsed in the mid 90s and the rest of the West is able to absolutely mog with their F-35s. Any western fighter built or updated in the past 20 years overmatches the Su-57's avionics and a2a weapons, and many of those fighters are already being replaced by next gen aircraft or will be shortly. Russia doesn't fly their "stealth fighter" near Ukraine because 20 year old SAMs can see it from 400 miles away and will blow its wannabe ass clean out of the sky if it so much as dips a wingtip inside their AD umbrella. It's been 14 years and they've made 10 prototypes for testing and 20 "operational" planes, each a little different from each other because they can't figure out how to 5th gen. They're up to an Su-57M variant already, and they don't dare fly this "stealth" fighter into combat despite NEEDING its made-up capabilities because it's all complete horseshit.
When the Ukies figure out how to make deep runs into Russia with their hand-me-down F-16s you'll see just how advanced the Su-57 really is when they start shoving Sparrows down its intake and up its ass.

They announced 3 batches of deliveries this year, with claims of between 4 and 8 planes per batch being thrown around. Considering this thing was full of imported electronics, either they've just put SU-35 avionics in it and called it a day, or they're simply lying

I mean, the manufacturer has already given us a range of 0.1-1 sq. meters RCS (comparable to the "low-observable") Advanced Super Hornet variant. Even if it's in the lower end of this (doubt, Russians always lie in one direction) it's nowhere near true stealth. At best, they made a worthy opponent for the F-15EX, but only available in artisan quantities.

American fighter planes are the one thing the USA absolutely dominates with, it almost always is a matter of who has the better American planes in conflicts.

      Anonymous

      >(comparable to the "low-observable") Advanced Super Hornet variant
Not even that. It's more comparable to a regular Super Hornet rather than Block III which halves the RCS of the original.

That's if the russians actually manage to make the plane perform accordingly, which is hard to expect when you see the wood screws and crooked bay doors from the pictures. Then there's shit like the spherical IRST that has to be turned backwards staring at the fuselage to not glow on the radar like hell, rendering it unusable in the process or compromising the rcs even further.
      >At best, they made a worthy opponent for the F-15EX
Funnily enough, the crappy external shape and the weapon bay that may or may not even have weapons that fit in it in service are the only real differences from the Su-35 from which it directly borrows all the electronics in place of various vaporware projects that never got anywhere.
