Odessa front

Russia is preparing for amphibious landing in Odessa. Several submarines and landing warships have been moved from Novorossiysk port to Crimea, which is seen an unusual step by Russian Navy. There also are rumors of several thousands of marines being trained in Sevastopol right now.

did the Russians forget all about the huge influx of anti-ship missiles at the start of the war? even if Russia could match or exceed munitions usage at the height of the war across the entire coastline they couldn't realistically suppress every ASM launcher.

      >did the Russians forget all about the huge influx of anti-ship missiles at the start of the war?
Remember that huge explosion in Ochakov from several days ago? There is a possibility that it was an anti-ship missile depot. Ukraine denied it, saying there were old mines from WWII days, but maybe it was something more recent than that, because this explosion damaged almost 100 houses.

I highly doubt they store all the missiles in one place.

that explosion was not that huge. they wouldnt keep the most valuable ammo or supplies there. they would be somewhere outside the city

Yeah in your dreams. The explosion wasn't nearly big enough to do that and it was direcly on the coast.

doesn't take many missiles to defeat a russian ship that has no functional offensive or defensive systems.
Took only one to sink the pride of the black sea navy. And they didn't even know they were hit.

I don't think they'd get close enough to shore for outdated charts to be an issue. With the loss of Moskva they have no wide area naval AA net. It would be individual CIWS systems and Osa/Tor/Buk derived point defense versus Harpoon, Neptune, and NSM.

I suspect they called it off because Mykolaiv never fell. Even a successful naval landing would have eventually needed relief over land, Russia couldn't support a beach head indefinitely.

Now Mykolaiv is safe and Kherson has been liberated, so lol good luck.

From what I understand an amphibious landing was planned but the Russian admiralty refused to give the go-ahead because they (correctly) considered it suicidal. From what I remember the Russians had something like <10k naval infantry ready to go anyway, so the original intent of the landing was to be a photo-op to dab on HATO when Ukraine had already been decapitated in the first week.
