Im trying to find it but cant. It's a guy hiding near a fence or something, might be a tiny staircase towards a cellar. There's really close quarter combat taking place and I think one or two grenades land near him. He's firing off and on and there's another soldier a few meters from him. The scary parts are actually when he's not shooting. You can hear so much going on at so many different distances in the background. I remember when it was posted and replaying it and closing my eyes which really made me feel how chaotic and rare it was something like this is happening in 2022. I believe it was somewhere in the first month of the invasion.

"Injuries incompatible with life" is a phrase only used in medical documentation in English. Fatally wounded is a much more common phrase and is the word choice that would be used with a layperson. Like other anon said, this is localization. Words have to be changed to better fit the context of the speech, even if a more technically accurate translation is available. The goal of a translation is to convey the message, not the words.

To be fair to this information strategy, the entire premise of the Russian public's support of Russia invading Ukraine is their necrophilic worship of the glory of the Red Army, with those who should know better writing off every unnecessary state-sanctioned death as some glorious sacrifice for the motherland. Showing that men like this actually died like dogs, rather than allowing them to revise history with lies of great patriotic duty and heroic sacrifice, does hit the rashist narrative where it hurts.

How come no one has put up a website to act as a repository for all the footage from this war?

My vote goes to the dude throwing grenades casually over the wall in Mariupol into the pile of vatniks. I even marked the location on Google maps, it's outside a restaurant. I'll go there and have some drinks in that very location the vattys were naded once this is all over.

Normies don't like seeing blood. Even somewhere hosting sanitised, pro Western footage would be delisted, demonetised, refused hosting, refused DoS support, etc. Partly because the internet isn't what it was, partly because public opinion is very important in war and partly because such a site would automatically have one or both sides as an enemy.

      Also,
      >now that the war is almost over

Maybe relative to 2014, but this will drag on for a period of time likely best measured in years.

Slavic languages are unironically richer in words and meanings than english, this applies also to obscenities, where Anglos say frick, we use a plethora of colorful expressions, often improvised on the spot. One example from Polish:
I fricked (someone) - wypierdoliłem, wyruchałem, wypieprzyłem, wyjebałem, wyciurlałem, wydupczyłem, wyrypałem, wychędożyłem, zerżnąłem, wyciupciałem, wybzykałem - all have their own distinc degree of obscenity and can be perceived in various ways: from vulgar and mean, to light hearterd and and even tender.

Depends on language. Russian, Ukrainian and Polish does like you say. Czech for example does not, because we borrowed lots of words from German, then all that century lasting mess of Germans actively trying to remove Czech language with which we had to cope by literally making up shitload of new words in 19th century. Organic growth of the language made a lot of progress since them, but still a bit behind you or Russian. Comparing libraries in say philosophy, of what is available in Russian or Polish (let alone German) and comparing it to our own, it makes me sad. Nowadays there are again lots of words from English being adopted, so who knows how will language progress further. It is pretty interesting topic.

how many words in total are made up? like when i try to search online, i cant find much information. i wonder how much common czech differs in this way from standard czech

              Anonymous

That is the best part, all of these, and I mean all are recognized as formal, standard Czech. While there were some archaic meme words that did not caught on, majority of them in practice were implemented fully. To make matters even worse, some of these 19th century linguists who wanted to save Czech language were actually Czech speaking Germans (sometimes even German speaking Germans) which certainly did not helped even with their best intentions.
Look at the greetings for example. Formal daily greeting is a "dobrý den" (literally "good day"), very common in slav languages. Something like that is difficult to get rid of. But informal, this is where it starts. Two most common ones is "ahoj" and "čus". Ahoj is from the old Germanic sailor ahoy/hoi/y and "čus" is just Czechized form of German "tschüss". When answering the phone, you ask "haló?" which is basically just "hallo", again from German.
Then there are daily use words like informal form of "father" - in German it is "vater", in Czech it is again Czechized "fotr". You don't have to even talk Czech to see the similarity. Or for example "wire". In German, it is "draht". In "Czech" it is "drát".

In regard to made up words, they are often commonly used words, like "fruit", "sunrise", "large", "fabric", "wish" or "lust" or "suffering". Some of these taken from Russian, some from German. Devastation of Czech language was so great at one point we simply did not had words for these things.
It is usually estimated there are way more than 120 000 words like that in Czech. Most of them made by a single Czech German, Jungmann.

I was shocked to find that even the word for air used to be "luft" in Czech (from German "Luft"). Then you replaced it with Russian "vzduch".

The question is why "vzduch", though? Why to borrow from Russian more than Polish (a West Slavic language just like yours)? "Povětří" is the Old Czech word for air, a cognate to Polish "powietrze" which Poles still use. Wish you, guys, borrowed more words from Polish while recreating your language. Could've made our languages more intelligible.

                Anonymous

Luft is still being used. Not as often as older generations did (my grandmother who was from Sudetenland used it all the time) but it is still fairly common. Though nowadays it is usually only used in regard to explosives (to blow something up - to air) or when someone is wasteful, like wasting their money (literally sending money to the air - luft).

thanks for the answer. more than 120 000 seems pretty a lot, i tried searching and found this https://www.ptejteseknihovny.cz/dotazy/neologismy-narodni-obrozeni that link mentions some books.

That's not even every option, you could have all of those prefixed with do-, od-, po-, za- etc. instead of wy- to slightly change their meanings, gives you a matrix of like 100 context dependent words just for "frick".

Neither are you dumbass. Different languages are good at different things. English and German are very descriptive and have little room for interpretation, so they're used in science and philosophy. Slavic languages are good at cursing. Some romance languages are very compact and fluent speakers can communicate fast as frick. It's almost like different languages evolved differently from one another and leaned into their strengths.

              Anonymous

this. i've had the fortune of picking up many languages through the years and i've developed tastes stemming from the strengths of the language.
all tactical communication should be conducted in german, love the forcefulness and depth of words to choose from thanks to their heritage of chimping out every 10-50 years since their inception.
english is a great language for interdisciplinary communication in military strategy, science or business, a true lingua franca in that it's not very good at anything.
serbian and russian are obligatory for arguing or mocking someone.
afrikaans (by extension dutch) is possibly the best language for social interactions, it's easy on the vocal chords to speak, wide margins in grammars and absolutely wild idioms and ways of expressing yourself creatively when drunk.
romanian is astoundingly easy to learn once you get past the spelling conventions and makes for great reading.
french should be relegated to a language of the arts, perhaps only opera, sculpting and painting.
mandarin is not a language, it's a delusion people agree upon to not treat.

anyone else have any reflections? always wanted to know if nips are so strange because their language programs them.

I've never considered this a war worth supporting so I get called a russian shill over it. It's ridiculous if you believe this is over. Even the most liberal countries in the world censor media from Russia, and pour billions of dollars into Ukraine. This conflict is going to drag on for much longer than anyone expects. I don't trust western media, we don't have journalists or reporters anymore. We have communist propaganda. Our censorship isn't to protect anyone from misinformation, it's to misinform people on purpose. I could care less what Russia has to say about anything I doubt their media and ours agrees the sky is blue during the day. People will argue it's cloudy. When we're cut off and fed lies constantly the only consistent thing is being lied to. It's not even half of a two sided story. You can bury your head up your ass if you want to. I doubt anyone could remove it if they tried.

People have already made up their mind. They think you're a moron and that Russia is a barely-above-african tier country that's trying to larp as a superpower by bullying smaller countries.
You're free to be wrong and disagree, of course.

I've never considered this a war worth supporting so I get called a russian shill over it. It's ridiculous if you believe this is over. Even the most liberal countries in the world censor media from Russia, and pour billions of dollars into Ukraine. This conflict is going to drag on for much longer than anyone expects. You're an butthole to prolong it by spectating on it as if it were a sport or leisure event. It's not fantasy football or a soap operah. Why don't you go serve over there if you give such a frick about it.

You just having a bad case of self pity and being contrarian, because it's easy to self delude yourself with such an opinion. Get your head out of your own ass and look at it objectively. Not like you actually will do it, it's hard to get out of that self created hell.

Man, Azov lads in Mariupol are the most tragic heroes of this war.
    >defending your city against all odds
    >outnumbered as frick, surrounded, shelled nonstop
    >with no food, clean water or warmth in cold of deep winter
    >later even only with captured munitions
    >managed to hold Russhits for long enough to allow Ukrainian military to regroup and strategically operate
    >in the end ordered to surrender in good faith Russhits won't harm them
    >now that victory is near
    >most of them if not all now probably dead, murdered by vatnigs
    >others shown as tortured skeletons, people who lost like 15 kilos in a month
They should get statues and streets named after them.

pzh2000 shot 5 normal rounds. yes, normal rounds, its that good. i cant understand these delusional morons who want to see smart ammo used in that strike.

        Anonymous

moron, watch the video. The first shell is an airburst; normal shells don't do that. The submunition explodes in the air, and in the direction of the explosion (slanted due to spinning of the submunition) a perfect hole appears in flames on the truck. The explosion is nowhere near the ground and clear an explosively formed penetrator. The next rounds are normal again, then the last explosion is again smaller, nowhere near the ground and clearly an EFP again.

Frick, just watch it homie. normal rounds dont explode like that.

it got hit with three smart rounds to make extra fricking sure it was dead

Maybe introduced to the house at different times. My sister brought her two cats into my parents' one-cat household about a year ago. Immediately descended into tribal warfare despite the fact that they're all friendly cats on their own. The two sister's cats watch each others' backs, and fight the parents' cat when encroaching upon her food dish. But then sometimes there's an armistice and they will all fall asleep in the same room together.
