How does this change the balance of the cold war and the future of weapons development?

The US Army deploys jetpack equipped soldiers to take it out, of course.
>Soviet Darkstar clocks in at mach 4
>When you remove all weapons, radar and armor
>Oh and you need this special fuel that the Ukranians developed and it's only available in small quantities so we only use it for parades and stunts like this
>Oh and the engines will melt if you do mach 4 for more than a couple minutes
>Actually it's doctrine to swap engines after a mach 4 flight
Such is Soviet aviation.
stfu poorfag you just dont like spending money
Yes, the soviets were poor, we knew that
>US has no idea about
>US decides Darkstar is a serious threat and starts building a plane that can cruise at mach 5
>Export version sold to Israel
>Ay-rabs get export version Darkstar
>Darkstar gets its shit pushed in the skies above Sinai
>Nork pilot defects with export model Darkstar
>Darkstar is inspected by western experts
>Experts realize that the entire airframe is held together with Armenian semen because it's cheaper than developing an effective, lightweight adhesive
>Cut to 45+ years later
>Anons on PrepHole post low effort "I just like it bros" threads about the Darkstar

But enough about the Avro Arrow
I mean, I think the foxbat is neat. Absolute dog shit, but neat.
on PrepHole post low effort "I just like it bros" threads about the Darkstar
"I just like it bros" is an entirely valid argument
>"I just like it bros" is an entirely valid argument
This.
>Hypersonic stealth jets used as air to air interceptors/fighters
Based retard Yf-12 enjoyer
No I might be retard, but if the canopy is so small, how the absolute fuck are the tail fins so big and if it's going at mach 4 why is the body so wide, still looks cool though
It's a sci Fi counterfactual, stop acting like it's the mig25 and at least give an entertaining hypothetical
Realistically the us would much more heavily focus on high speed jet fighters, however if a plane was goijg that fast i could see it incentivizing development of alternatively powered aircraft and energy weapons
>Realistically ...
... the soviet union never had anything close to the ability to develop anything like this and any hypothetical where this happens is basically "anything goes"
>It's a sci Fi counterfactual, stop acting like it's the mig25 and at least give an entertaining hypothetical
it's a bit hard to imagine entertaining hypotheticals when the original counterfactual is so laughably preposterous and implausible as to make heads spin, you may as well make alien invasion threads or "what would the world look like if Christ was never born" threads
How would you feel if you hadn’t eaten breakfast yesterday?
The US probably invests much more heavily in its own Mach 3+ fighters, interceptors, and bombers. A-12 derivatives, XB-70, etc.
>no mention of the XF-108 Raper
Booo.
>XF-108
I'll confess, I didn't know about it until just now.
Thanks anon
Non-seething answer: US dumps billions into Mach 4+ SAMs
Hey shill, your bot is fucking up and spamming the wrong threads.
US lost vietnam only the most fucking brain rotted shill would say they lost Korea.
They lost neither.
>How does this change the balance of the cold war and the future of weapons development?
America starts taking SAMs seriously instead of just relying on the USAF to protect its airspace. The A-12 Supersonic fighter is introduced into the service and we see supersonic chases throughout American airspace as the A-12 tries to shoot down the DSB-LK.
First strike on the Soviet Union and forward bases in the Warsaw Pact within the estimated range of the aircraft.
It's the only way to be sure, it could be carrying nuclear weapons next time.
>first strike
Not possible without full retaliation. Remember, ICBM’s are in the game at this point.
Get me that professor on the blower!
>now you remember when kay used to be fun
warturismos tongue my anus
Us develops an orbital SAM (space to air missile)
system.
It involves a mothership satelite equipped with a radar and hypersonic glide vehicles decelerating from orbit on an intercept path of the darkstar, once the plasma layer evaporates at lower mach speeds it guides itself like a normal SAM, first with track via missile and then with active radar homing.
we would have kino us mic beyond human comprehension, had the russians been just a bit more competent in the 60s
fuck em for that too
