Funnier thing is it never happened

Why do you think it didn't?

It was designed to shoot down ballistic missiles, Kinzhal is just an air-launched ballistic missile, so it's more or less exactly what the patriot system was built to intercept.

        I like the metaphor.
I have this theory that the relentless propaganda of the Soviet era caused it indirectly -- it sort of metastasized into the present-day vatnik cultural disconnection with any objective reality. When you ask what hypothetical evidence could get them to change their mind, their only response is to go full schizo.

They might just be evolving. As much shit as I give vatniks the fact that they even were able to realize they needed discount JDAMs to aid the artillery and that they seem to have at least TRIED to mitigate HIMARs strikes by moving logistics points further away in some cases shows that while slow, and lessons need to be absolutely beaten into them, they CAN somewhat adapt kek.

I see your point and I do agree to some extent, but to me it always feels forced when they do. Take the HIMARS threat you mentioned as an example -- after their logistics got bottlenecked, they moved stockpiles out of range and carried the last 50 km from rail depots in Scooby vans, yet they kept right at the talking points about how HIMARS was a pathetic U.S. wonderwaffle that wouldn't make any difference to the outcome, and that they'd already destroyed 47 of the 16 units that were sent. Like nothing had changed.
From the outside, it always looks to me like their subconscious mind has to sleepwalk them into a better course of action, because they're incapable of voluntarily admitting they could have been wrong.

All I want for Christmas is to see every AIM-120 D-Block finally given the chance to fulfill their humble purpose: namely, turning an entire catalogue of Soviet and Russian airframes into tiny bits of scrap suitable for making novelty keychains.
Please, Santa. If not for me, then won't you please spare a thought for all those poor blueballed AMRAAMS who yearn to feel the sunlight on their tailfins as they rush off for a spirited game of tag with panicked Sukhois and MiGs.
It'll make the world a better place.

You remember back in January when the RF threw the 155th Marines at prepared defenses in Vuhledar, got hilariously BTFO'd, patched up the ranks with mobiks and then repeated it several times? Apparently that was the mighty Russian Bear awakening from hibernation to advance the front by a few centimeters. Temporarily.

      > “They were saying that the Patriot is an outdated American weapon, and Russian weapons are the best in the world,” Air Force spokesman Yurii Ihnat said on Ukraine’s Channel 24 television. “Well, there is confirmation that it effectively works against even a super-hypersonic missile.” Ihnat said.

      > He said successfully intercepting the Kinzhal was “a slap in the face for Russia.”

You might want to look for a more current source, even if it doesn't match the bullshit story that EurAsian Times is trying and failing to peddle.

Now that's interesting news indeed, because my normal rule of thumb is to wait for the strident Kremlin denials before assigning higher confidence. You know, like with the Moskva sinking, or the whole "no panic in Balakleiya".

    > zircon
Does this thing even actually exist, at all ? They keep showing something entirely different in each “zircon” test footage

      Anonymous

It likely exists but not in the form advertised. I've posted this before but air breathing hypersonic cruise missiles are VERY distinct. They have air intakes similar to ramjets for the scramjet engines, and the nose cone is often very unique to deal with hypersonic flight. They have to be made out of materials that can deal with high friction and temperatures. Even without extensive knowledge looking at something like pic rel you can immediately recognize how different it looks from a regular missile. The wave rider was a Mach 5 demonstrator. Zircon is claimed to be mach 9.

You've never seen a picture of it because Zircon is likely just a updated and faster P-800. If they showed the missile as is out in the open people who know a thing or two would immediately point out it can't possibly operating to the specs they claim. This is why all zircon videos are 240p resolution recorded from far away. Until I see something like this from russia Zircon is vaporware to me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_RrFXQViyo
