No, I’ve had mine for 2.5 years now (21) and was lucky to get it handled before coofid and the summer of love

AR15. It’s a BCM build. What about you?

You guard is aligned vertically, but not horizontally, which is why your gas block looks like this: shifted starboard

I bought myself an AR this year because I was tired of having to pass the rifle between my dad and myself at our local two gun comp. The competition itself comes every month but I shoot sometimes to practice as well.

Work friend invited me to the range earlier this year to destress during busy season at work and I really enjoyed it. Built an AR 15 mostly with Larue parts. I go about once a month because the closest 100+ yard range is an hour and a half away. Try to go with said work friend when possible and bring along a family member or friend that hasn't shot a gun before so they can try. I'm enjoying the new hobby. My favorite part was researching everything leading up to the gun purchase.

How many guns are you up to now?

      >how many guns are you up to now?
Just two. The AR and a SCAR. I figured:
      >one intermediate rifle (check)
      >one battle rifle (check)
      >one shotgun
      >two handguns — one CCW and one full size pistol
      >one .22
And once those boxes are all checked, then I’ll consider doubling up on rifles or whatever.

            Anonymous

Ruger 10/22 and Glock 19; very basic stuff. Will get other guns at some point in the future.
The M&P 15 has been great-no issues at all. Especially for the time and price I got it; (late 2019, under $600 OTD) it can't be beat. Plus it's a pre covid gun (apparently gun QC went gone down across the board in 2020 and 2021 to keep up with demand) so I know it's well built as well as a relic of the old world that our generation grew up in.

        >one battle rifle (check)

        >one .22
based. I am the exact same (AR-15, AR-10, Mossberg 590, Glock 43X, Glock 20). I only need a .22lr now, was thinking of going with the Henry AR-7 due to its packability.
After that, I want to get:
        - Ruger Precision Rifle or Bad News AR in .338 Lapua
        - Vector in 10mm (I feel like 10mm is better than 9mm with the size being greater than a handgun and offering more controllability than a SBR in some intermediate cartridge)
        - Some bolt gun in 30-06.
        - AR in .458 SOCOM
        - Ruger LCP Max
        - S&W .44 Mag (frick you bears)

I also need to work NV and thermals in there. Might focus on those first after I get the .22.

          Resident Wumbologist

I recommend the takedown 10/22 over the AR-7. AR-7s are interesting, but incredibly cheap in a not good way. You aren't going to want to shoot one a whole lot.
NODs are expensive but it really is a buy once cry once deal. I have 2nd gen and it's ok for most things, but 3rd is significantly better even though it's like 5x the cost. Thermals I haven't messed around with, but they have gotten much cheaper over the years. Perhaps a good alternative but I'm not sure I'd spring for both.
          >338
Shoot your AR-10 a lot until the limitations of the rifle and caliber start to become a limiting factor in what you want to do. That's going to take a while. 338 is a huge investment in gun and ammo cost that I really don't recommend doing for it's own sake.
          >10mm Vector
It's a meme gun. Most PCCs are. Won't really do anything your AR doesn't already do better and it costs a fortune, but you do at least have the magazines and ammunition in use.
          >30-06 bolt gun
Why not 308 which you already have?
          >458 socom AR
Fun for shiggles. I recommend looking around for a used upper because it's the kind of thing somebody else overspends on and then dumps at a loss after shooting once.
          >44 mag
The current production S&W guns have been kind of sloppy so I think Ruger is probably a better value for money.
Also your current Glock 20 with some hotter loads can make for a pretty effective mountain gun.

          Jealous of you guys (europoor)

bought my first one about a year ago but was given a few rifles by my family
i bought a shitty, small carry gun and a maverick 88 because i wanted to conceal carry and i wanted a shotgun for home defense without waiting 20 more years to get the nice engraved, semi automatic one through inheritance plus i want a gun i can beat up and not care about

i try to shoot the weekends i get paid but i havent been going lately because my car is shitting out and i want to save money in case it totally shits out on me

Bought my P30SK about nine months ago. Can confirm guns do make your life better, although I can’t really explain it in words. Bought my first AR a month or two ago and it’s pretty fun and exciting but I’m a bit anxious about all the stuff I need to learn before I can consider myself decent with ARs, nevermind good.
I try to shoot once every month or two. Thankfully money isn’t that big of an issue so I get to splurge a lot.

my first gun wasi n november of last year- a single barrel shotgun my grandfather owned and I acquired many years after he died. my first bought gun was a m48 mauser I adored this january. my most recent was a FAL. I've got my semi automatic rifle so my main goal now is getting gear, taking stop the bleed, and more magazines as well as setting up my reloading rig for both 8mm and .308. I look forward to owning many guns in the future, but at the moment there is no space for a safe in my parents house(my guns cant come with me to uni for obvious reasons) and my dad says I "won't have an arsenal in his house"

I've been wanting to get into guns for a while and always wanted an AR. Finally pulled the trigger and bought this one a couple months ago. Only been to the range a few times so far, and one of those was a basic AR class. But it's fun and I'm planning on going regularly.

My next upgrade will probably be a decent optic, red dot most likely. I'm working on getting decent accuracy and speed with the magpul sights that came stock for now though.

Remember, if your stock fits too loose, wedge a segment of plastic from an empty milk container

Really? There is some play in the stock.

There is absolutely no reason for your crt stock to have play in it. It literally has a locking mechanism on it. I've put on 3 different magpul stocks and they are all solid. Either your tube or stock is fricked and out of spec.

I dropped that AR-15 once or twice on the same vinyl floor hard enough to loosen the castle nut (no thread lock nor staking), the CTR stock has been loose ever since

WASR 10, bought a few weeks ago. Started enjoying guns when my best friends family took me shooting when I was like 14 (now 21). I’m graduating college soon so planning on shooting a lot more

Dad passed and I inherited a 12 gauge trap gun, and a nice 22 pistol, bought a new 22 pistol after researching the date on the high standard I inherited and finding out it was from 1956 and I don’t want to break it shooting it a lot…. New 22 is a beretta neos, which is very much based on the duramatic I inherited. I’ve been wanting to get into something that wasn’t work or kid related and lucked out finding an indoor range about 5 minutes from my house, got a membership so free lane rental, 30$ a month.. so far I’ve gone the last 5 weeks in a row, about 200-300 rounds a trip, mostly on weekends while my kids are down for a nap (wife’s at home). Probably would have gotten into it before, shot when I was younger but my wife’s not super comfortable with guns so trying not to go too nuts. Also i shot enough when I was younger to realize habits are important, but then waited so long I lost any I had, so I’ve been trying to work in basics with my 22’s.. grip, focusing on sights not targets.. keeping my fricking elbows bent not locked… and that sort of thing, luckily I have a coworker who is a pretty avid collector and used to do competitive shooting so I’ve been very lucky to get some hands on advice and feedback.. next gun is gonna be a Springfield mil spec 1911, have it on layaway at my lgs. Got to fire one at a rental range and really liked how it felt, looking forward to bringing it home so I’m not just shooting 22. Would really like to figure out when the hell my local trap range is open so I could do some 12 gauge clay fun, but they don’t have a website and their hours seem to be known only to sages and mystics..

      Anonymous

Really wish I’d gotten the chance to shoot some clays with him, we went shooting a few times but never got to shoot trap, he was really into it before I was born and since he had a great job and no kids at the time he went all out and bought a really nice browning bt-99.. I got to do some skeet shooting in scouts, and then later with friends after he passed, but I never really pushed to try it with him, and he never really pushed to get back into it. Lesson learned, I want to give my kids a chance to try that with me if they’re interested.. probably gotta get something smaller than the 12 gauge though…

The neos I got. Also, why the hell is fricking Walmart still the cheapest place for 22 ammo? They beat out all the gun stores and sport stores around me by about 3 cents a round if not more… just got 2 325 count boxes of federal 22lr for 21.6 a box…. Also any advice for working on grip, keeping my hand steady, and using the same part of my finger to pull the trigger other than just doing it a lot?

          Anonymous

There is no substitute my friend. That's why dryfire is a thing. Just make sure the news is okay to dry fire, some older 22lrs are not. Also dry fire diligently, as in pay attention to what you are doing. Be actively paying attention to it, not just yanking the trigger haphazardly. Five minutes of attentive reps beats half an hour of sloppily messing around while you watch TV. Ps there are deals to be had online you just have to look, federal 22lr went for 5cpr online like two days ago.

            Anonymous

Thanks, going to try the “pull trigger while balancing a coin” thing, as far as I can tell both 22s should be fine to dry fire, but I bought some snap caps anyway.

              Anonymous

the manual for the neos has you dry fire it to de-wiener it so I assume it's fine

Got my first gun almost a year ago, because I moved to a crime ridden shithole city. After seeing a few murder scenes I got a shield ez for me and my b***h to learn with. Sold it and now I have an emp and she has a 43x. Going to get ccw soon. Also a zpap m70 next month. BTW I got an sp12 compact and got fricking burned, by std. Mfg. But can't be too mad. I've always had an armchair interest in guns from media experience, but didn't really have enough interest to actually acquire or shoot any. A buddy of mine brought me out to the range and it was ton of fun, bought a Beretta 92X soon afterwards. I try to go shooting every 1-2 weeks, I've always been a cold war autist so my next gun will be an SA58 or a PTR, depending on how much money I want to drop.

Bought my first gun a couple months ago after realizing that I had nothing else I wanted to spend my money on after constantly knocking out other major expenses with the new job money I've made over the past year. Basically have wanted guns all my life but never had the luxury spending money until now. First gun was a PX4 Storm Type G I bought at the LGS after the memorial day weekend, visited the LGS a few days prior to handle and learn a lot of guns but after the weekend shootings was paranoid that a lotta guns would be out of stock again, so I started upping my research here. Now in that 2 month period I have my PX4, a 10/22, Tikka T3x CTR, Beretta a300, and an XD9 4". Planning on getting a glawk 19 next, gonna build an AR15 before the year ends, plan out an AR10 build for early next year. I go shooting every 2 weeks now but I'm saving for when fall/winter hits so I can go to the outdoor gun club range in the mountains at least once a week. Overall? /k/ has finally overtaken PrepHole as my new home board. Thanks to the anons and tripgays that aren't completely braindead and make me love this lifestyle even more than I already do.

#7, 7.5 and 8 target loads. They tend to be cheap.
What shotgun is it? Some older shotguns don't cope well with steel base shells and you need to get tall brass which is more expensive but extracts and cycles more reliably.
