Frick no. Putin's inheritor is someone like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aleksey_Dyumin who is
      >former Russian intelligence
      >a hero of Russia
      >is in a high (but safe) political position
      >has a history of being groomed toward high-level leadership
Those are the parts you will need to actually take over Putin. Prigozhin himself is just trying to secure his position after Putin dies or steps down. He's a personal crony of Putin, so if Putin's gone, his head is on the chopping block. He's doing all he can to avoid being cut out.

          >The absolute state.
Well, that's how Russia works. The big wig in charge has to be some hero, some big important guy who did the big thing to save the big thing and because of it he's totally fit to rule the country now. Just like Putin came up as some kinda savior for the post-Soviet collapse, this guy is gonna be the post-Putin collapse savior.
And the rest of the world are probably gonna buy it, cause bread and circus are what make the world go round, so depressingly it makes me want to off myself.

Yeah, they're like a feudal society with fealty only for the Czar and their personal superiors. And that's why Prigozhin is not going to just fall out of a window. He's the equivalent of a Russian prince. Nobody except Putin himself has the power to bring hell on him, and all things considered, Putin can not afford to get rid of Wagner. They've been literally the only force making any progress or real effort in the past months, even if they're suicidal convicts. Prigozhin so far has been completely loyal to Putin and has taken on himself the dumbest worst assault and attack of this entire war, the operation in Bakhmut.

Whichever of his subordinates wants a promotion.

            >Authorities said a Russian Su-34 mistakenly bombed and killed Prigozhin, head of Wagner PMC, in Ukraine on Thursday,

Who can promise such a thing? Who can orchestrate it? Who is willing to go against Putin and kill his cook or carpenter or whatever the frick he was before the war, and assume they get to live on? Prigozhin's position is way more stable than any of the generals' and officials like that. He fricking recruited that Innsmouth looking logistical vatBlack person into Wagner just a while ago. He's not just someone you can bump off.

Frick the other people rep[lying to you, but do you really think the middle of a warzone isn't an easy place to off someone? It only takes one paid off guy to put some poison in Prigo's coffee or leak his position to a Ukrainian HIMARS team.

            >march into Ukraine, right into the middle of his personal army, and make him trip out of a window
much simpler just leak his location to Ukrainians for precision artillery strikes

That's assuming his position is timely intel and that his personal detail aren't loyal either to him or Putin.

                Anonymous

No, of course not. Show me one time when Prigozhin has actually undermined Putin and gone against him. His operation in Bakhmut is literally the kind of Strelkov-tier violence and loss of life that furthers Putin's plans the most out of all involved.
You need to start thinking about Russia as if it's a feudal society. It's 100% fine for the boyars and princes to strike against each other, Prigozhin at Shoigu and Gerasimov and the army leadership, the other way around, Siloviks against oligarchs and oligarchs against siloviks if they can pull it off. All of it is fine, so long as they do NOT strike at the czar. As long as Putin stands at the top and you do not undermine him, keep paying your fricking taxes and don't overstep your position, you can squabble all you want. This is exactly what Prigozhin has been doing.

                >Show me one time when Prigozhin has actually undermined Putin and gone against him.
How about now? Putin appointed shoigu and gerasimov, putin still holds out to those people, which means that they are either: doing good job (lol), or that he believes that they can at least finish the job.

Calling out Shoigu and gerrasimov like that is literally going against Putin.

                >Calling out Shoigu and gerrasimov like that is literally going against Putin.
No, it's not. Competition between the czar's underlings is not only expected, it's beneficial, because the competition they perform against each other ensure that the better performing parties rise to the top. Russia is not an absolutist monarchy. The boyars and princes have their own power and realm and they can do whatever the frick they want so long as they promise fealty to Putin and pay their taxes.

Pitun allows this kind of infighting because as long as the generals busy undermining Prigozhin, they're not busy thinking about maybe trying a military coup

Prigozhin, someone with a personal army, has a vested interest in Putin remaining in power. Going with the coup with him in the picture is considerably riskier than with him off of it. At the same time giving Prigozhin so much power over yourself isn't very wise either.

                Anonymous

Putin understands the military won't try to coup him. It's staffed with loyalists who know that if Putin goes they'll go together with him and the entire establishment will replaced by delusional ultra-nationalists who will drive whatever remains of the Russian army and state off the cliff
The more likely scenario is military cooperating with some of the moderate members of Putin's inner circle who just want to go back to the status quo, but these guys also depend on Putin and have no strong leader
I genuinely believe Putin will die of natural causes before he gets offed or ousted

He's not punching up at his superiors, he's mocking the military guys who are doing shit work compared to him. Prigozhin has dedicated more effort toward Wagner's objectives than any of the army staff have for theirs. Wagner is pretty much the only party actually attacking continuously on the Russian side.

Me thinks that Putin is having/allowing him to do this to put public pressure on Shoigu and Gerasimov so that Putin can more easily control them. While support for the war within Russia remains high, it is apparent that it is not going well. By having some noise blaming someone other that Putin, it keeps his personal popularity from being tied directly to the war.

There may also be a measure of good old fashioned "rule by division." Your position at the top can't be weakened if factions below you are too busy struggling against each other. Allows Putin to play both King and Kingmaker.

There are various opinions and theories regarding Yevgeny Prigozhin's political ambitions and activities. Prigozhin is known to have close ties with the Russian government and is believed to have played a role in the country's military operations in Syria and Ukraine. He has also been linked to various political and media projects, including the Internet Research Agency, a troll factory accused of meddling in the 2016 US Presidential elections.

Some political analysts believe that Prigozhin's activities are part of a larger strategy by the Kremlin to control opposition and manipulate public opinion both within Russia and abroad. Prigozhin is believed to have played a key role in establishing and supporting various pro-Kremlin media outlets, as well as funding and organizing various political campaigns.

Others speculate that Prigozhin may be positioning himself to take on a larger role in Russian politics, possibly even challenging the current government for power. There have been rumors of tensions between Prigozhin and certain members of the Kremlin elite, and some believe that he may be seeking to establish his own political power base.

However, it is important to note that these are all just speculations and theories, and there is no concrete evidence to support any particular view of Prigozhin's motives or intentions. Ultimately, the true nature of his activities and political ambitions remains a matter of speculation and debate.

Supposedly he has insider information that tells him there are more than enough shells, but his men don't get any for some reason. He talked about this some time ago. Back then he said people were pressuring him to say he's sorry and get in line if he wants his men to get shells. Don't know how true any of this is, especially given the fact that it comes from the mouth of a Russian.

We know it is more of less true. The shell supply is stretched thin all across the front for Russia. Every commander, general and PMC leader is jockeying for their supply. Prigozin wants his share plus some, but Shigo's PMC and other connected people are getting shells through grifting.

Since the recent EU announcement to increase arty ammo production to 1 mln a year for Ukraine and the US also reported boosted production of ammo. What are russian capabilities of producing arty shells and other military equipment? I mean they can't outperform the US alone, not to mention combined EU with their tiny economy and obsolete production lines.
It this going to lead to overwhelming Ukraine military performance, since russia is already rationing ammo?

Russian stockpiles of shells are immense. The highest in the world. They inherited significant quantities of shells from the soviet union and made lots more since then. The thing about Russia is that they actually planned on fighting wars by using artillery, so they were making shells all this time for the last 20 years.

I believe in what's supported by reality. The reality is Russian artillery is firing a lot more shells than Ukraine. Russia has a lot more reserves to draw on.

Then why are Russian trenches left with the dead lying in them for months before they are seized by Ukraine with the same dead men lying in them?

You'd think with all those reserves and shells that kind of thing wouldn't happen. Almost like none of it is true at all, like every other statement made by Russia.

It's a large war. These things happen. I'm no Russia supporter, but it's obvious that Russia has less problems with supplying shells to the arty crews than Ukraine does.

Maybe because he's tired of being told they actually have lots of shells and really it's Ukraine that doesn't.

Okay guys. Cool it. What Ukraine considers an adequate supply of shells is seen by Russia as barely enough to get by. Think of it as like inflation, but for artillery tactics. Furthermore, it is in the interests of Prigo and other commanders to overstate the urgency of their situation in order to secure more shells.

00:32 and finally Ukrainian forces are securing the trench at least a month later. The same corpses are still there unmoved. It has been a month since they died. Nobody has retrieved these men who gave their lives fighting for Russia in the most hellish conditions possible, literally dying collapsed on top of those who were killed previously.

When you go to hell, tell these men Russia had enough shells the whole time, that is why nobody came for them and their officers were just being dramatic and overstating the urgent need for shells.

Notice how Ukrainian artillery videos have dried up? Probably because most of their guns, which are Soviet models, have been worn out and are now just as inaccurate as Russian guns. The advanced self-propelled units are likely all or mostly inoperable having been run into the ground with no repair / maintenance. Only the US provides depot services (still requires transport to and from the border) which would only help with M777s.

The reason why the West is so slow to supply shells is that NATO leadership knows that Ukraine can’t actually use most of it, which is the real reason their artillery fire has been reduced so much.

      Anonymous

      1. Videos haven't dried up. This is a lie.
      2. Ukraine hasn't been relying on Soviet tubes for a while now. At least 6-8 months due to lack of ammo and barrels. If Ukraine was "out" of Artillery, why hasn't Russia been able to advance?
      3. Ukraine has been sending NATO for service all war. They set up a hotline and call center with experts for small fixes for each system. They set up a large repair base across the border in Poland and another in Slovakia. Almost 700 SPGs and towed artillery pieces of various calibers have been pledged or delivered to Ukraine. Not all of it needs to be shipped to Poland/Slovakia. Some go back to manufacturer like: Krabs go to Poland, PZH2000's to Germany, Caesars to France, etc.. Again, if Ukraine was out of NATO AND Soviet artillery, why doesn't Russia have artillery superiority? Why is that not reflected in massive gains and visible damage to Ukrainian forces?
      4. NATO isn't slow to supply shells. NATO shell production is increasing substantially to meet Ukraine's needs over a long war
      5. Ukraine has very few confirmed losses of western artillery systems, including 0 HIMARs
      KYS
