Remington is no longer owned by freedom group. They are part of vista outdoor now.
I know the old 870s had bad finishes and poor QC. Has anyone tried the new fieldmaster (replacement for the express)?
I am looking for a gun to break clays with and keep an 18.5” barrel on for home defense.
Just buy a Mossberg. They sell a combo kit with the 500 with a field/security barrel.
I don't think that the new 870's have been around long enough for anyone to really know what the quality is like. What they look like new doesn't really matter, the question is do they turn into a rustbucket or fall apart in a few years. But it hasn't been a few years yet....
name one firearms brand that used to be terrible but became better over time.
Taurus unironically
PSA as well.
To a degree, keltec.
I've read nothing but reports of keltec going to shit in the last few years
Also their customer service is now non existent
Taurus is good now?
Not great, not terrible.
Huetech has been supplanted by Turkshit for the dangerously cheap import market
always has been.
Sig does that arc every time they release a new gun lol
Some models are good for the money, TX22, G2/G3, GX4, maybe revolvers idk
>maybe revolvers idk
Unless they have seriously upped their game, their revolvers are shit. I will admit my TX22 and my buddies G2C are good for the money and have held up just fine.
I thought I heard the newer ones were alright but I have no idea honestly, I defer to you!
Fair enough. I was hoping their revolvers had gotten better.
Sig on an annual basis.
Remington Ammo is owned by Vista. Remington Arms that makes guns is not and was bought by some investors.
Ah you are right. Rem Arms is a separate company.
Just get a surplus police magnum
>$500 for a base model 870
I remember thinking $350 seemed a little steep when I bought one in like 2014
I've had mine for a little under a year at this point and it hasn't fallen apart, exploded, or rusted away yet, despite having been in the rain for 6 hours or so on a few hunting trips. Not the smoothest action, but you can sand it down an make it pretty passable, and I haven't had it jam on me yet, do I'm happy with it.
Browse pawn shops and etc for old Wingmasters for sub $300. Plenty of places don't realize how much they are worth now.
score a minty Wingmaster from a dead vaxed boomers collection, then buy a nice 18.5 barrel and you would effectively have a superior hunting and HD shotty
>P.S. you will be shocked at the prices of replacement Barrels for the 870
