No.
Listen up anon, you can fuck up all the other rules of gun safety, you obviously shouldn't, but you can get away with it so long as you don't fingerfuck your trigger guard (rule #1)
All NDs happen because retards broke this rule
I was adding lighter trigger connector and new sights. Was testing the trigger pull thru dry firing. When I was done, I put a load mag in and shut the case. A few minutes later, I wasnt thinking, picked the gun back up to test the trigger pull one last time. Obviously it went off, putting a hole in the wall. Luckily, I was pointing it in a safe direction, and it was in my basement so it didnt penetrate thru the outside of the house.
It definitely rung my bell and I hate myself for being so careless. As mad as I am at myself, I know I am going to be hyper-vigilant going forward.
Every gun owner is permitted one (1) ND pass, even Ian McCollum of Forgotten Weapons
The weight is forward of the trigger with an empty magazine, conditioning your support hand instead >use dummy rounds
Aluminum isn't the right weight

Just keep the chamber empty or with a snap cap inside. I use a loaded mag in my gun with live rounds, but always press check to see the snap cap before dry firing. No NDs (yet). I'm surprised they don't make weight correct snap caps altogether.
The devil loads your gun when you aren't looking. Make sure you don't give him the benefit of the doubt when you pick one up.

This. This is why I got pissed last night at some anon posting pics of a loaded chamber with his finger on the trigger pointed at his camera(face). Fucking retards are posting bad habits which can get people killed. Dumb shits.
No, I got pretty close once, but I checked the chamber before blowing a hole through my apartment with my glock.
You really should be careful with guns. You can still mess with them and have fun, but remember that they will fuck you up if you are too retarded.

No. The closest I have come was a deliberate but stupid trial of a home made ramset power actuated cartridge driven marble firing hand cannon I built as a youth. Decide to dry fire to pass the time. >Gen 5 G45 >Remove mag >Empty >Check chamber by pulling the slide about half way, admittedly I realize now I essentially did this on auto pilot and didn't actually visually inspect the chamber due to being sick and complacent because the mag was empty and it felt empty >Point gun in safe direction >BANG >Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck >I found the bullet in my bookshelf in the next room embedded into the spine of a copy of Ripley's Believe it or Not

PROTIP: if you own a gun over a year without negligent discharging at least once, you aren't handling it enough. NDs are a natural part of handling weapons, just like tweaking your back is part of weightlifting and car accidents are part of driving. I ND several times a year because I actually HANDLE and know how to USE my weapons. It makes me a better firearms handler and marksman, and it's a small part of the price you pay in the sheepdog lifestyle Simple fact is, the "safety mentality" will build mental blocks in your head that will get you killed. You need to be comfortable putting your finger on the trigger and pointing the gun wherever you want no matter the time, place, or status of the weapon. Taking time to check whether the gun is loaded whenever you pick one up will serve to make you hesitate in a personal defense scenario. You fucking safety idiots are going to get people killed all because of this fucking "ND" shaming. Guns are inherently dangerous, you need to accept it.

Overall you shouldn't feel too bad about killing people. It's part of owning guns, and you should get used to it.
Idk about negligent, but I had an unintended discharge the other day >testing friend's open bolt 22 >load it, aim at target, pull trigger >bolt moves a bit, but no bang >unshoulder gun to look at wha- BANG >wtf >slightly scared of open bolt guns now
Thankfully gun was pointed down range in safe direction, i guess the bolt was just caught on something or there was friction for a second.
This is called a hangfire. Best practice is to wait a few seconds with the gun pointed downrange before trying to run the action/clear a malfunction. Not super common with modern ammo but worth being cognizant of, especially with rimfire.
No, a hangfire is a delay between the primer being struck and the primer / gunpowder itself fully igniting and discharging the round.
This was the bolt getting caught on something before it even struck the primer... the gun had to be bumped or moved for it to get unstuck so me holding it the aiming position probably would've done nothing
the closest I ever came was firing twice when I only wanted to fire once. gun was still pointing down range, but going up from recoil. that second shot went high into the berm.
I had two NDs in a couple minutes >handloading a new caliber >make a few dummies to practice and fine tune OAL >cycle and dry fire my dummies >BANG >oh that one wasn't from the dummy pile >clean hole through the leg of my table and a hole in the rug, bullet went under the floor somewhere >check the last one >primer is shot so it's a dummy >BANG
I accidentlly loaded powder in a casing I intended for a dummy round (reprimed with a spent primer) and it ignited. Bullet took the same path as the first one but missed the table leg.
No harm done and the holes in the rug are invisible if you don't know
Would the second one be a ND or a different kind of fuck up?
You weren't neglectly discharging, at least it doesn't seem to meet my definition of it, since pulling the trigger was intentional and thought out
I think the fuck up is on the creating your dummies side but idk
>doesn't seem to meet my definition of it, since pulling the trigger was intentional

Yes, hence the RD designation he came up with for it
>I did intend to pull the trigger
His own words
Pulling the trigger is pulling the trigger, you intended for the gun to go through the discharge process
The fuck up came from putting powder into a dummy he intended to be a dummy, hence the spent primer

Pulling the trigger carries out a specific action, when you pull the trigger you intend for that action to be carried out
My point his fuck up was the powder in a dummy round
You're free to call it a ND, I'm sticking with the RD designation

You two have been shitting up this thread over semantics.
The keyword is NEGLIGENCE. While 99% of NDs come in the form of pulling the trigger when you shouldn’t, negligence can take other forms. In this case, mixing dummy rounds with live ammo. The gun went off as a result of negligence, just not negligence of unintentionally pulling the trigger.

I'm autistic anon, what do you expect out of me jeez
I’ve reinforced basic safety to a point of muscle memory. That being said only had 2 moments where I slipped up. >first time >at range with buddy and my GP100 >for whatever reason, after firing 6 shots, I like to work the DA and dry fire a few times because brain likes hearing click noises to confirm empty chamber. >swear I counted 6 shots >gun still pointed down range, I turn my head to tell my buddy about my dry fire habit. >pull trigger and put shot #6 down range, probably missed the whole target but still down range thanks to muscle memory safety. >so even when I was distracted and retarded my instincts still kept me from making a horrible mistake.
Second time >shooting my mossy 590 for like the 2nd time since I bought it. >don’t have any 12g saved up yet, so just buying a box and shooting it all each range trip. >finishing up at range, pull last round out of box. >insert and fire, then pack up to go home. >get home, putting stuff away. >larp with my shotty for a minute because excited about first shotgun still. >after pointing it around room eventually pump it. >shell flys out >wtfface.jpg >terrified that I left a live round in my gun without realizing it. >turns out to be the empty shell from the single round I shot before leaving range. >didn’t rack it after the shot because monkey brain knew there wasn’t any more ammo. >still have the shell in my key bowl as a reminder.
that I left a live round in my gun without realizing it.
I've done this before too anon, it's what really got me into the habit of checking chambers obsessively
Wish I saved the story, it made me laugh a lot for some reason. Someone posted years ago about NDing a shotgun as a teenager. He thought it was empty when shooting outside with his dad. Pointed “empty” shotgun at dads glass soda bottle and pulls the trigger just to practice aiming and trigger pull. Obliterated the bottle but got away with it because dad just thought he was being an asshole. Still makes me laugh don’t know why.
Once, when I was fresh to guns and didn’t hit the range enough.
>be newgunz >go to range for first time in a year >have Colt 1903 Pocket Hammerless >turn back to hear what the group is saying >have muzzle pointed down range but don’t take finger off trigger >feel hand jump and hear bang >see dust coming off ceiling and realize I did the #1 no no
My one ND was with a Mauser HSC Super. The decocker with this thing is pulling the trigger with the safety on. I had it pointed away and at the ground, and I was alone, but the safety wasn't on.
>The decocker with this thing is pulling the trigger with the safety on
Holy fuck that's a terrible design, it makes the 'decock by pulling the trigger but controlling the hammer with your thumb' method seem outright genius
Yes, but its from the interwar period, where some guns knocked it out of the park and others were terrible in terms of safety and controls. In that regard the HSc is fine for ww2, but converting it to a double stack 'wonder 32' to compete with modern DA/SAs in the 1970s was kind of a dumb idea.
I bought this thing out of somebody's trunk in a grocery store parking lot. fun times.
>The decocker with this thing is pulling the trigger with the safety on
Holy fuck that's a terrible design, it makes the 'decock by pulling the trigger but controlling the hammer with your thumb' method seem outright genius
I rarely use the decocker on my bersa. I know that by design it can’t fire, but damn when I hit the switch and the hammer snaps down at full speed it frightens my monkey brain. Rather just let the hammer down with my thumb.
I haven't, but a buddy of mine has: >be me >Innawoods circa 2012, stalkin for some deer >in a cursed muzzleloader phase where I spent a lot of money making a boujee Trade Musket so I had to take like 40 seconds to load the fuckin thing >My buddy is about 20 yards ahead of me along this old rock wall sitting down with his gun beside him, his father was behind and to the left of me about 40 yards. >And behind my buds father was my dad >I was making my way up to the wall itself from an angle since it's uphill, but his father was coming directly at him from downhill >My pal picks up his rifle with his left hand at the grip, and using his right hand pushes himself to his feet >During this process, his non-dominant hand pulls the trigger and due to him being a retard, he ND's >Almost directly into the ground in front of his father >According to my dad, my buddy's father nearly had a heart attack, jumped three feet in the air (age 66), and was so angry that he got a hernia in his fists from clenching.
Diagram attached for clarity
I got really close once. I was messing around with my RFB, cleared the chamber and removed the mag. Was going to drop the hammer when I remembered a Paul Harrel vid where he specifically mentioned newbies clearing guns in the wrong order.
Sure enough I'd done it backwards. So thanks Paul. You kept this retard from putting a .308 round into his neighbor's attic.
Kek. I've heard from my cousin that a dirty SKS can do that. >cousin moves to new place >joins local range >first time at new range and his SKS unloads a long burst downrange
Thought he was going to get kicked out but they all had a laugh about it
>That why they put springs on the firing pins.
Other way around, anon. Only early SKSs have spring loaded firing pins, the later years have free floating only.
I know they have free floating firing pins. I should have worded it better. A firing pin spring can be installed to resolve that problem is what I should have said. I was typing then I had to go back to work real quick.
>That why they put springs on the firing pins.
Other way around, anon. Only early SKSs have spring loaded firing pins, the later years have free floating only.
A negligence induced accidental discharge means that negligence is still the culprit, therefore it's still an ND. If the weapon failed in some way outside of your control and the slamfire would have occurred regardless of your actions, it's accidental. Not cleaning your weapon properly is negligent. You had an ND.

>Not cleaning your weapon properly is negligent
An SKS can go into battery if the firing pin is too hot, dirty, has even tiny damage, or the ammunition you are using has civilian berdan(civilian non-corrosive) primers. It is entirely possible that it slamfired empty because of any/all of the above factors. >Only firearms with firing pin springs are immune but most old milsurp don't have anything to stop it from riding the primer as it chambers a round. It is 50/50 anon's fault unless someone tears the rifle down and checks for cosmoline. Which he should have done immediately after his battery fire.
One time I was beating off so hard I began bouncing around the basement with my chair stuck to my ass. My mom came down the stairs to check on me and her big mommy chest blimps made me discharge right into her two feet of cleavage and she was all like "tendies are ready" and I was like "really?" And she was all like "yes, your nuts" and she tenderized my balls with her teeth and I was negligently discharging all up her nose holes.
Not personally but I saw one happen at the ready range I was running in the army. Some female captain slammed her m4 into the barrier and fired a round at like 60 degrees up in the air. I tried to kick her off the range but the other simp lieutenants she was with insisted she was aiming down range even if she clearly wasn't so i didn't want to bother arguing so I just told her to keep her damn safety on until she actually is ready to fire.
3 months straight of that shit you saw some retarded stuff.
>be me, 3 years ago >EDC Ruger LC9S >pocket carry because skinny af, dont like to print at my semi-professional job >leaving for work one morning >kinda late, rushing through routine >shove pistol in my pocket without checking safety first >trigger catches on my knife >BAM >slide cuts my hip >blow a hole out the side of my pocket >bullet enters wall, exits other side, and into bathroom cabinet >EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.mp3 >4 stitches in my hip
Havent pocket carried since. I'm lucky I didnt blast myself in the leg. Lessons learned I guess
>brand new 308 bolt action >take it apart for basic teardown >accidentally fuck up the bolt in the process - had no idea >reassemble >safety on >load mag with one bullet just to make sure it cycles >close bolt on bullet >BANG
Fortunately it was pointed up and my hearing has totally recovered.
I have since invested in dummy rounds.

Sure, let's keep it on topic. Now, they're sitting around chucking about how they didn't limp like their kids and how they used to shoot better with that rifle back in the day - completely oblivious they created all the issues they make fun of others for having.

Boomers are the only generation with a bunch of life experience and zero wisdom gained from it. You're hated by everyone, just thought you should know that before you croak of congestive heart failure.

I'm 42 you dottering old fart. Just go back and read my posts a few more times and really try to understand why everyone under the age of 50 wants to genocide your generation. You haven't rebutted a single point because you can't. You know it's all true. Shooting garands for 50 years doesnt negate a thing i said. Die soon, you know it's coming. Just know we're all rooting for your funeral to come asap. Nobody cares you shot at targets for a few decades. We care that your generation destroyed what was the most wonderful country in the history of mankind.

Holy fucking projection. Look at the past 40 years of the wh and congress, you want to argue your generation has been capable in how they ran the country? Btw, Detroit says hi.

Boomers are unironically responsible for everything wrong with the world. They were handed everything on a silver platter, squandered it all, and created a hellscape for their children and grandchildren.

Kek not bad. >makes fun of the limp
Too real. The signature cackle of superiority gets me every time.
Most likely bait. If not, yes you should handle your gun often. Being familiar with your firearm is essential. But handle it safely and responsibly is the key. If you practice safe habits unloaded it’ll work the same in real shooting scenarios.
I ND'd twice. Once I pulled the trigger on a gun I thought was clear while the muzzle was pointing downrange. The second time, I was manually decocking a DA/SA and the hammer slipped out of my fingers, so the gun fired one round while it was pointing downrange.
The gun safety rules overlap for a reason.
At the range? There might have been a time where I accidentally fired down range when I didn't mean to (I don't remember if I did but I've been shooting since i was a brat so I wouldn't doubt that I did it as some point)
Anywhere else? Fuck no, the concept of accidentally shooting in my house or something is so alien to me that i genuinely think I'd react pretty poorly if I was ever retarded enough to do so. That being said, it's easy to not ND if you have a 3 digit IQ
Yes. Shot a round in my house that embedded itself in my neighbor's house. Will never make that mistake again. Ever
My neighbor actually comforted me and made me cookies because I was so distraught and guilty. Added to the guilt. I check the chamber every time I even think I might dryfire now.
>shoot neighbors house, luckily not killing anyone >neighbor gives YOU cookies after feeling bad for how retarded you are
Dude at least buy the guy a six pack or something. Based neighbor tho.
Also check'd
>posts something off topic about an off topic post about off topic posts
I've made several posts in this thread already, pertaining to the subject lmao >verification not required
>*crickets*
Guess nobody has anything more to say about NDs so I would like to take the opportunity to say fuck boomers I hope they feel the shame of failure on their death bed the way their children and grandchildren feel knowing who their parents were.
Only "ND"s I had were on the range, and those were just accidentally letting off a round way off target while adjusting my grip in between shots. I find it hilarious how PrepHoleommandos here regularly shoot their monitors while watching Cars though.
>Out in middle of no where at friend's ranch >Get back to ranch house at end of night >Carrying friend's old bolt action .243 >Empty ammo out of internal magazine >Work the bolt to clear chamber. Nothing comes out. >Point in safe direction. Pull trigger >Gun fires >wat.jpg >Shell casing stuck in chamber
I've never had a ND but about 6 months ago my EVGA 'PLATINUM RATED EXTREEM' 1000W PSU in my gaymen pc had a capacitor detonate when i plugged it flipped the rocker switch to turn it on.
sounded like a 9mm going off next to my head and I was confused for a good couple of minutes as to what the fuck happened. there was no damage to the rest of the pc fortunately
I've had one. I was "innawoods" with friends on a range trip shooting unfamiliar firearms. In the process of shooting one of my friends C7-75s I had a user induced malfunction. I was effectively blocking the trigger from fully resetting with my support hand death grip. I showed him the malfunction by mashing the trigger like a sperg and eventually it did reset and the shot went 20 ft into the start of a mountain.
He will see this and laugh, because that's what we did at the time too. Only ND when actively shooting in a safe direction or you will have a bad time.
Had an aunt that was a frigging millionaire. She was moving and asked me for help, said she pay me so I saw big dollar signs. When we finished she gave me a cheap ass J.C. higgins bolt action 20 gauge shotty for pay. It would fire every time the bolt was closed on a round, almost shot my truck the first time. Told this old man I knew about and he said yeah they all do it, gave me 50 bucks for it.
>test safety on new broomhandle. >It fails and the round goes off >but it was at range so nothing of value was lost
Sucks to know it’s broken though and I don’t know how to fix it
Once. >be me, 14 >me n’ dad shooting his shitty .40 s&w taurus in the woods >stupidly long trigger pull with no clear break >pull the trigger back and there’s no bang >turn the gun to look at it with finger on the trigger >BANG >get ass chewed >never again
Shot went down range, but it was still obviously fucking stupid. Remember, the beauty of the 4 rules is that if you only break one you’re still safe.
>Be me >Messing around with some AR pistol thing (not sure what it was) >Put mag in, drop mag, rack back charging handle, pull trigger, repeat >Mess up order by racking back charging handle after I put mag in >Boom!
Luckily, I was at least smart enough to point the gun downwards and away from me while doing this, so only the floor got hurt; you couldn't really see it (carpeted floor).
Last Christmas, high on xanax, decided to practice disassembling my new Taurus G3 (you have to pull the trigger for the slide to come off). Didnt check chamber before that, blew a canyon in my palm because of the angle I was pulling the slide back to activate disassembly lever. My first and only ND, lesson instantly learned. Pic related.
>you have to pull the trigger for the slide to come off
I never understood why people complain about this and design guns that don't need a trigger pull to disassemble. I'm too intelligent to ever ND but I guess it's for people like you who are unfathomably stupid.
I'm not complaining about the design, just explaining why the trigger was pulled. And yeah, I know I'm retarded for that, I've heard it a thousand times and I was the first to say it kek
Yeahh I used to be really good about not having one in the chamber but I had a break in and morons trying to murder me, got paranoid about not being ready when I needed it. Still kinda am a little bit
My Hellcat is the same. Have to pull the trigger to release slide. Definitely makes me feel paranoid despite checking multiple times for rounds in the chamber
no, but the worst I’ve done is eject a live round after inserting a new magazine during range time in military. I had a brain fart but it was still embarassing
Had a retard in my platoon that let one off straight in between the platoon sergeant's feet, this only moments after sweeping the rest of us intentionally for a laugh.
Never saw him again.
Guy I had in my flight was going to get kicked out for sending a round downrange 3 seconds after the call for cease fire, and his foot was sticking out past the red line. He saved a kid from choking in the chow hall like the next day and got coined from the commander, funnily enough. I’m surprised they didn’t beat the guy you were talking about to death
Technically, I've had a couple at the range, thought the mag was empty and it wasn't. Thankfully nobody saw so I didn't say anything. I think it was only one that went through the ceiling anyway, the rest were downrange.
>be selling a Lionheart LH9 >take a quick shit break from work at my apartment >if I'm shitting on the clock I actually try ti be quick about it >remember that I haven't taken pics of the gun to post yet >get it out and snap some photos >it looks dumb without the mag in, so I insert it >before doing that, I took a few pics with the slide locked back so the slide was back while the (unknowingly) loaded mag was inserted >done with pics, want to drop the slide and hammer and put it away >release the slide (thought it was safe, didn't know mag was loaded, didn't fucking check because was in a hurry), and immediately pull the trigger once it was released >suddenly my hearing was gone, no boom, no pop, no pain, no ringing for a good few seconds then ringing started slowly setting in >I was putting myself in such a hurry that I had no idea what just happened, the recoil didn't resonate, the hole in the wall in front of me didn't resonate, it only came to me when the ringing set in then I realized wtf just happened >I unload and yell I'M OK because neighbors can hear everything in that place >I go knock on every nearby door to tell everyone what happened & everything is ok, in hopes they won't call the cops >no one answers their door out of 5 neighbors, assume everyone is at work or didn't care, it was like 8am so maybe they slept through it >a few minutes pass and no cops come, I just fuck off back to work but hang around the area, no cops ended up coming >realize I got away with it (was sketched out I'd lose my job and get kicked out of apartment) >I just fill the hole, and because the outside was wood grain I cut a piece of wood from another area of the building and glued it over >no one ever noticed, apartment passes move-out inspection >never spoken of it until now
Deleted the pics of that gun bc I always saw it as bad luck. Here's another pic I took of a gun I sold in that batch though. Moral, don't be in a hurry with guns and don't load them for photos!
Look, if you talk to cops, the guys with the most ND's are typically SWAT. Its' because they fuck around with guns all the time.
Travis Haley and other guntubers, who are more than proficient and generally safe have had ND's.
The fact is if you've got 100k rounds under your belt, an ND of some kind is likely.
ND's happen.
The thing to understand is that by following multiple safety rules 99% of the time, the changes of an ND being a problem are very slim. Treat guns like they're loaded. Keep your finger off the trigger and never ever point it at anything you don't want to put a hole in.
I had an ND practicing dry firing. I was drying firing at the tv during commercials for like a half hour. Figured I was done and just threw a mag back in, immediately forgot and shot the tv. Shit happens but gun was pointed in a safe direction. I wouldn't have done that if anyone else was around.
The most dangerous thing is to pretend that an ND will never happen. It's like people pretending they are never going to crash their motorcycle. Yes you are, wear your gear.
Most reasonable ND excuser. But for real if I had a gun business or a massive collection a shot thousands of rounds a month I probably would make a mistake. The 4 rules aren’t guaranteed to prevent ND, but it can mitigate the results. Keeps the ND down range or away from harm. That being said I believe it IS possible to never ND in a lifetime with proper determination.
>be me, conscript >be marching around in the woods with my team >BANG, right behind the troop leader >WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT.png
I shit you not this was his words
"I wanted to check if the safety is on" so he played around with trigger
it was only practice ammo but still, that guy was an idiot in general
this is the reason why you give this young fucks no live rounds outside of the firing range and only RIGHT before shooting
>at local range >attending my first pistol match >double up ear pro because it just seems like a good idea >owner of range going over course of fire >doing a dry demonstration >everyone has their ear muffs off to hear instruction >owner NDs down range >I'm the only one who doesn't have the EEEEEEEEEE
Must have been embarrassing for the owner
I've had something worse, a legit AD. Bought a 10/22 as my first firearm, thing had feeding problems from day 1. One hot summer day I throw in a magazine, pull the charging handle hand slips, bolt flings forward, gun goes off without my hand on the stock let alone near the trigger guard. From what I figured out on my own (Ruger replicated the problem but couldn't figure it out themselves) the receiver was out of spec. The bolt had some side to side play as it slid forward- which meant the extractor couldn't catch the lip of the round as when it hit the whole bolt would just jump to the side a little instead of forcing the extractor to engage. do that hard enough and the extractor could hit the rim hard enough to set the primer off. not a cool experience
No.
Listen up anon, you can fuck up all the other rules of gun safety, you obviously shouldn't, but you can get away with it so long as you don't fingerfuck your trigger guard (rule #1)
All NDs happen because retards broke this rule
What is dry fire at home, Alex?
>too retarded to simply not chamber a round while doing that, or use an empty mag
Retardo tu es
Pointless without the weight of a loaded weapon
Every gun owner is permitted one (1) ND pass, even Ian McCollum of Forgotten Weapons
>Pointless without the weight of a loaded weapon
So use dummy rounds? What the fuck are you doing that a few grams makes a huge difference?
The weight is forward of the trigger with an empty magazine, conditioning your support hand instead
>use dummy rounds
Aluminum isn't the right weight
>an's wasn't an ND
He wasn't supposed to let the follow slam home
>He wasn't supposed to let the follow slam home
I know, but I have a hard time calling it an ND as opposed to just a fuck up
>tell me how I know you've done the easiest thing in the world to avoid
You know nothing, and I'd put money down your ass is trying to project your own failures onto me to cope
t. I don't believe you
Lmao. Hand those guns in sonny before someone gets hurt.
>it happened in my head therefore it must be real
Just keep the chamber empty or with a snap cap inside. I use a loaded mag in my gun with live rounds, but always press check to see the snap cap before dry firing. No NDs (yet). I'm surprised they don't make weight correct snap caps altogether.
The devil loads your gun when you aren't looking. Make sure you don't give him the benefit of the doubt when you pick one up.
>Pointless without the weight of a loaded weapon
So use a loaded mag without one in the chamber are you fuckin brain damaged
And iirc ian's wasn't an ND, it was rounds going off in the weapon's magazine
Jesus, Ian really needs to hit the gym.
Said the lardass
No. I took this this morning for PrepHole, I'm far from big, but I'm definitely not a lardass.
Do you shave your chest? Lmao
Nah he chewed the hair off
Cringe. I'm a lardass I admit but I still got pull so whatevs. What surprises me again and again is that all fit guys who build part of their identity around being fit/sporty have the biggest fucking issues that make my autistic fat ass look like the Dalai lahma (pre younglings tongue sucking ofc)
Now that's some grade A cope.
>I'm fat but YOU'RE THE REAL LOSER
>I totally get LAID
stop eating porky lmao
>Dudes only slightly fatter than you
Bro, this guy has muscle, Ian has none, he's skinny fat and built like a fucking dough elemental.
>and a middle aged guy who runs a gun channel
And? Plenty of dudes canrun a gun channel and lift. It's 30-120 minutes 4 days a week.
>Bro, this guy has muscle, Ian has none
The fucker can barely seems more muscular while explicitly flexing, I don't see why you're hyping up the most generic physique imaginable
>And? Plenty of dudes canrun a gun channel and lift. It's 30-120 minutes 4 days a week.
It's not the free time, it's the lack of need to really work out. Nothing he does requires you to be fit and he's married with kids, most guys let themselves go by then. Granted, he could turn into a fatass within a decade pretty easily, but I've seen much worse from guys his age
Dudes only slightly fatter than you and a middle aged guy who runs a gun channel, I think he's doing fairly alright health-wise. Atleast he doesn't have a beer gut
That wasn't an ND though, that was a magazine detonation
>that was a magazine detonation
That Ian caused with negligent release of the follower: ND (negligent detonation)
God he's such a disgusting doughy little worm.
>Dry fire
>With a loaded weapon
?????????????
>dry fire at home, Alex
No way, fag!
This. This is why I got pissed last night at some anon posting pics of a loaded chamber with his finger on the trigger pointed at his camera(face). Fucking retards are posting bad habits which can get people killed. Dumb shits.
Did this purely just to spite you, gay
Keep doing it to spite me. One day you'll show me good.
Heh. Don't care you unstable gay. Stop trying to have a nice day.
>complaining about anons being suicidal
Where do you think you are?
No, I got pretty close once, but I checked the chamber before blowing a hole through my apartment with my glock.
You really should be careful with guns. You can still mess with them and have fun, but remember that they will fuck you up if you are too retarded.
>You really should be careful with guns
This might be the understatement of the century
some jerkoff is going to post the pasta anyway and then samefag eight replies to it calling it funny and clever
>be me

Gayest pasta to ever shame this board with it's appearance
Tell me how I know you ND'd.
t. never ND'd
It was funny the first time. Now it's so annoying
>I know the memes, but in all seriousness, have you guys ever had an ND?
No. The closest I have come was a deliberate but stupid trial of a home made ramset power actuated cartridge driven marble firing hand cannon I built as a youth. Thankfully it shattered the hollow the cinderblock on one side rather than coming straight back at me as chunks of glass. The basic rules should be obeyed and in addition mine are
It was fun for a long time. Stop being a cunt. You too are a meme or pasta that will fade as all memes and pasta does, yes even the frog.
Only at the range when I accidentally let off another round before I wanted to after I did a trigger job on my pistol
I'm betting you've owned and dealt with guns for a while before that based on the story
Complacency really does kill, that's why I've (hopefully) built up the habit of doing the slide half back check whenever I pick mine up
Correct, over 10 years. Complacency is exactly why this happened. All I can do is learn from it, I suppose.
Fuck, alright I'll tell my story. I ND'd once and the results were frankly unbelievable but this is true.
Be me
>Go to range with group of family members to shoot
>Shoot gunz.jpg
>Clean up, 1 round of 9mm Red Army Standard 124gr fmj left. Someone decides "I'll Barney Fife it home, don't wanna carry the box". So they carry the gun with 1 in the chamber(but its my gun, the family member was visiting from out of state)
>Be me, 2 days later. Come down with major fever. Decide to dry fire to pass the time.
>Gen 5 G45
>Remove mag
>Empty
>Check chamber by pulling the slide about half way, admittedly I realize now I essentially did this on auto pilot and didn't actually visually inspect the chamber due to being sick and complacent because the mag was empty and it felt empty
>Point gun in safe direction
>BANG
>Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck
>I found the bullet in my bookshelf in the next room embedded into the spine of a copy of Ripley's Believe it or Not

Now I make fun of him for it every time he picks up a gun or someone asks about NDs. Atleast we're not retarded enough to test triggers with the gun pointed at the floor or something important.
1/2
Is it really an nd if you go through the entire process of readying a rifle and aiming it downrange before pulling the trigger?
It is if you've completely forgotten there was a round in the chamber, that's why they don't call it an accidental discharge. Firing a bullet when you don't mean to is negligence, nothing getting damaged or killed is luck.

nafo?
Average pol user literally defending someone who is saying: "Overall you shouldn't feel too bad about NDs. It's part of owning guns". Do you hear yourself dude?
It's copypasta. It's been posted, quite literally, thousands of times. Lurk more.
Every time.
I want to open carry a DEAGLE just to piss people off. I want everyone to be so fucking enraged when they see my DEAGLE...at the range, at the store, at the neighbor's, in the neighborhood. I want them to SEE my power of the M16. I WANT them to see my accuracy of a sniper rifle. I WANT THEM TO SEE THAT IN ONE HIT AND IT'S ALL OVER YES IT IS. They must know.
I want every person in this world to know: for every strike, there IS A COUNTER-STRIKE
I'm literally a Ukraine tourist, and even I realized this was copypasta the first time I saw it you fucking retards
You do not belong here. You are not welcome here and everyone hates you. So go fuck off now filthy morons.
Shame the crayon didn't go through your head
holy shit you must be braindead
seriously get to a fucking doctor before you kill someone
You are just stupid. Feel bad about ND's. Idiot.

I came into this thread looking for this post just to count how many newfags are present
90% of posters on PrepHole are /v/ and 4chan tourists
>90% of posters on PrepHole are /v/ and 4chan tourists
I believe you, but how is PrepHole still so much better than /v/?
It was better before february 2022
It was better before 2015
At this point PrepHole is just /v/ 1.5 where good weapons thread get slid off for another useless tangentally related chud/ukraine thread or brown teenagers pretending to be white supremacists every few minutes
If you want to talk about guns or weapons your only options are reddit or discord
Mods do a lot of work, I think. There's still a lot more shit that should be done to fully clean up the board, but the mods do a half-decent job of keeping retarded 4chan threads off the board.
Is there actually a single better newfag indicator than this post?
Additionally, we all know the average PrepHole poster is almost as retarded as the average /v/ postee, but this is just too much at once even within the established framework, so anyone actually falling for this has proven to be *even more* retarded.
I enjoy it.
Youre as much of a gay as the first retard that posted this stupid ass pasta
Seppuku for you, nothing less doctors orders
this is the pasta that originally got me into PrepHole

>load it, aim at target, pull trigger
>bolt moves a bit, but no bang
>unshoulder gun to look at wha- BANG
>wtf
>slightly scared of open bolt guns now
Thankfully gun was pointed down range in safe direction, i guess the bolt was just caught on something or there was friction for a second.
I had two NDs in a couple minutes
>handloading a new caliber
>make a few dummies to practice and fine tune OAL
>cycle and dry fire my dummies
>BANG
>oh that one wasn't from the dummy pile
>clean hole through the leg of my table and a hole in the rug, bullet went under the floor somewhere
>check the last one
>primer is shot so it's a dummy
>BANG
I accidentlly loaded powder in a casing I intended for a dummy round (reprimed with a spent primer) and it ignited. Bullet took the same path as the first one but missed the table leg.
No harm done and the holes in the rug are invisible if you don't know
Would the second one be a ND or a different kind of fuck up?
You weren't neglectly discharging, at least it doesn't seem to meet my definition of it, since pulling the trigger was intentional and thought out
I think the fuck up is on the creating your dummies side but idk
Yeah I guess it's slightly different because I did intend to pull the trigger, but I mixed my ammo twice. Maybe a RD, retarded discharge
>doesn't seem to meet my definition of it, since pulling the trigger was intentional
He discharged a round and shot a bullet without intending to. It's clearly an ND lol
>He discharged a round
He intended to do that anon, that's my hang up
>and shot a bullet without intending to
Yes, hence the RD designation he came up with for it
>He intended to discharge a round
No he didn't. Are you retarded?
>I did intend to pull the trigger
His own words
Pulling the trigger is pulling the trigger, you intended for the gun to go through the discharge process
The fuck up came from putting powder into a dummy he intended to be a dummy, hence the spent primer
>Pulling the trigger is pulling the trigger, you intended for the gun to go through the discharge process
So every time someone dry fires their gun they're actually intending to discharge a round? Do you call pulling the trigger "discharging the gun" ? Look up the definition of discharge you blithering noguns nincompoop
/debate
This. Fuck off back to plebbit with petty grammar disputes.
I'm autistic anon, what do you expect out of me jeez
I discharged a round into your mom last night
I’ve reinforced basic safety to a point of muscle memory. That being said only had 2 moments where I slipped up.
>first time
>at range with buddy and my GP100
>for whatever reason, after firing 6 shots, I like to work the DA and dry fire a few times because brain likes hearing click noises to confirm empty chamber.
>swear I counted 6 shots
>gun still pointed down range, I turn my head to tell my buddy about my dry fire habit.
>pull trigger and put shot #6 down range, probably missed the whole target but still down range thanks to muscle memory safety.
>so even when I was distracted and retarded my instincts still kept me from making a horrible mistake.
Second time
>shooting my mossy 590 for like the 2nd time since I bought it.
>don’t have any 12g saved up yet, so just buying a box and shooting it all each range trip.
>finishing up at range, pull last round out of box.
>insert and fire, then pack up to go home.
>get home, putting stuff away.
>larp with my shotty for a minute because excited about first shotgun still.
>after pointing it around room eventually pump it.
>shell flys out
>wtfface.jpg
>terrified that I left a live round in my gun without realizing it.
>turns out to be the empty shell from the single round I shot before leaving range.
>didn’t rack it after the shot because monkey brain knew there wasn’t any more ammo.
>still have the shell in my key bowl as a reminder.
that I left a live round in my gun without realizing it.
I've done this before too anon, it's what really got me into the habit of checking chambers obsessively
Checked. Same. Though with plastic guns now it’s way easier to tell a gun is loaded because the bullets add so much to the total weight.
Once, when I was fresh to guns and didn’t hit the range enough.
>be newgunz
>go to range for first time in a year
>have Colt 1903 Pocket Hammerless
>turn back to hear what the group is saying
>have muzzle pointed down range but don’t take finger off trigger
>feel hand jump and hear bang
>see dust coming off ceiling and realize I did the #1 no no
Mfw
My one ND was with a Mauser HSC Super. The decocker with this thing is pulling the trigger with the safety on. I had it pointed away and at the ground, and I was alone, but the safety wasn't on.
I don't really use it anymore. quirky gun.
I bought this thing out of somebody's trunk in a grocery store parking lot. fun times.
he checked my state permit to purchase and kept my info mr atfman
I rarely use the decocker on my bersa. I know that by design it can’t fire, but damn when I hit the switch and the hammer snaps down at full speed it frightens my monkey brain. Rather just let the hammer down with my thumb.
My buddy has a thunderbird and I hate it too anon, I see a hammer falling and my lizard brain assumes there's a bang coming
I haven't, but a buddy of mine has:
>be me
>Innawoods circa 2012, stalkin for some deer
>in a cursed muzzleloader phase where I spent a lot of money making a boujee Trade Musket so I had to take like 40 seconds to load the fuckin thing
>My buddy is about 20 yards ahead of me along this old rock wall sitting down with his gun beside him, his father was behind and to the left of me about 40 yards.
>And behind my buds father was my dad
>I was making my way up to the wall itself from an angle since it's uphill, but his father was coming directly at him from downhill
>My pal picks up his rifle with his left hand at the grip, and using his right hand pushes himself to his feet
>During this process, his non-dominant hand pulls the trigger and due to him being a retard, he ND's
>Almost directly into the ground in front of his father
>According to my dad, my buddy's father nearly had a heart attack, jumped three feet in the air (age 66), and was so angry that he got a hernia in his fists from clenching.
I will still contend that me closing the bolt on my SKS and it proceeding to slamfire 10 rounds down range is not my fault and I will die on this hill
You will die, got that part right
Everyone dies Australian Satan, if this is news to you then you need to pickup up a newspaper
Kek. I've heard from my cousin that a dirty SKS can do that.
>cousin moves to new place
>joins local range
>first time at new range and his SKS unloads a long burst downrange
Thought he was going to get kicked out but they all had a laugh about it
>dirty SKS slam fires
That why they put springs on the firing pins.
Most SKSs have free floating pins. They're perfectly safe so long as there's nothing gunking up the channel.
Only ND I ever had was with an airgun
>be me, 3 years ago
>EDC Ruger LC9S
>pocket carry because skinny af, dont like to print at my semi-professional job
>leaving for work one morning
>kinda late, rushing through routine
>shove pistol in my pocket without checking safety first
>trigger catches on my knife
>BAM
>slide cuts my hip
>blow a hole out the side of my pocket
>bullet enters wall, exits other side, and into bathroom cabinet
>EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.mp3
>4 stitches in my hip
Havent pocket carried since. I'm lucky I didnt blast myself in the leg. Lessons learned I guess
>pocket carrying with something else in your carry pocket
>pocket carrying without a holster

>accidentally fuck up the bolt in the process - had no idea
>reassemble

Fortunately it was pointed up and my hearing has totally recovered.
I have since invested in dummy rounds.
>safety on
It was a Remington 700 wasn't it
Bingo
Been shooting for 50 years (yeah, I'm old) and had it happen once.
Was squirrel hunting with my Remington 870 as a teen and this wily little fucker would jump from tree to tree away from me then go stealth. Was stalking it and took the safety off with my finger within the guard but off the trigger. Kinda tripped and accidentally hit the trigger. Blew a big hole in the ground about 6 feet in front of me.
Squirrel got away.
Closest I've come is leaving a full magazine from my sig (lol) in a pocket and sent those pants through the dryer. Was wondering why it was banging around so loud but just let it do its thing
Wait…you guys DON’T wash your bullets before you use them…?
I'm going to ignore the gay-assed copypasta earlier in the thread (you all know the one) and the gay troll replies.
Here's the thing: if you own a gun over a year without NDing at least once, you aren't handling it enough. NDs are a natural part of handling weapons. I ND several times a year because I actually HANDLE and know how to USE my weapons. It makes me a better firearms handler and marksman, and it's a small part of the price you pay in the sheepdog lifestyle
Simple fact is, the "safety mentality" will build mental blocks in your head that will get you killed. You need to be comfortable putting your finger on the trigger and pointing the gun wherever you want no matter the time, place, or status of the weapon. Taking time to check whether the gun is loaded whenever you pick one up will serve to make you hesitate in a personal defense scenario. You fucking safety gays are going to get people killed all because of this fucking "ND" shaming. Guns are inherently dangerous, you need to accept it.
>I'm going to ignore the gay-assed copypasta earlier in the thread
>but I will post my own lolol
>yes I am a gay how'd you know?
>NDs are a natural part of handling weapons
Dude...
newfag
This
is me.
You were saying ?
I was saying you're too new to internet meme culture to understand that was a shitpost, gramps.
We invented the internet, kid. Not my fault I'm not up on all your zoomie shit.
>Not my fault I can't understand basic tennants on PrepHole like shitposts
Just finish your oatmeal and to to bed. Zoomies are busy picking up the mess of a country you and your narcissistic boomer cohort left behind.
>Zoomies are busy
Doing stupid zoomie shit and gender transitioning. Fuck off.
>destroy western culture with 3rd wave feminism and ~~*civil rights*~~ movements
>self-indulgent and obsessed with convenience
>poisoned all life on earth with their single use plastic obsessinon
>inhereted a world where a single income could buy a house and support a family, left the world where a single income can barely cover rent
You will go down as the most destructive, degenerate, and ignorant generation in American history and its not even close. Just look at the average age of a congressman - it aint zoomers running this county into the ground. Your parents would be sick with shame (just like your children are).
Can we keep this on topic (ND), instead of you bitching about your betters ?
Sure, let's keep it on topic. Boomers were given a beautiful handmade rifle that was the envy of the world (America) and they stripped it for parts, replaced some of the mechanisms with cheap chink parts, and then ND'd into their child's leg. Now, they're sitting around chucking about how they didn't limp like their kids and how they used to shoot better with that rifle back in the day - completely oblivious they created all the issues they make fun of others for having.
Trying to share some wisdom here, and you keep crying. Your generation should seriously be culled...
>wisdom
Boomers are the only generation with a bunch of life experience and zero wisdom gained from it. You're hated by everyone, just thought you should know that before you croak of congestive heart failure.
I have 50 years of shooting experience, yet you want to bitch about my generation...
Classic zoomie.
>are the zoomies in the room with you right now?
I'm 42 you dottering old fart. Just go back and read my posts a few more times and really try to understand why everyone under the age of 50 wants to genocide your generation. You haven't rebutted a single point because you can't. You know it's all true. Shooting garands for 50 years doesnt negate a thing i said. Die soon, you know it's coming. Just know we're all rooting for your funeral to come asap. Nobody cares you shot at targets for a few decades. We care that your generation destroyed what was the most wonderful country in the history of mankind.
>I'm 42
Jesus, a cusper X-Millenial. And the worst of both apparently.
>everyone under the age of 50 wants to genocide your generation.
Please, try. 🙂
Useless pussy motherfuckers...
I accept your concession
Heh. Moron.
>boomer fag claims dundu nothin
just fuck off and die already.
No. I cannot since your pathetic generation is incapable of running the world.
>your pathetic generation is incapable of running the world.
Seriously underrated post
Kek not bad.
>makes fun of the limp
Too real. The signature cackle of superiority gets me every time.
that pasta is at least a decade old
Jesus Christ just shut the fuck up, dude.
The gun safety rules overlap for a reason.
pissed at my ar jamming and i squeezed one off into the ceiling at the range, i was just ready for it to start running
I check the chamber every time I even think I might dryfire now.
>shoot neighbors house, luckily not killing anyone
>neighbor gives YOU cookies after feeling bad for how retarded you are
Dude at least buy the guy a six pack or something. Based neighbor tho.
Also check'd
I got him a bunch of rare wine and some local six-packs. He's literally the best neighbor and honestly it isn't enough.
>makes an off topic post about off topc posts
So post something on topic, you've got over a hundred more posts to fix this thread
>posts something off topic about an off topic post about off topic posts
I've made several posts in this thread already, pertaining to the subject lmao
>verification not required
>*crickets*
Guess nobody has anything more to say about NDs so I would like to take the opportunity to say fuck boomers I hope they feel the shame of failure on their death bed the way their children and grandchildren feel knowing who their parents were.
Fuck you, chud.
Only "ND"s I had were on the range, and those were just accidentally letting off a round way off target while adjusting my grip in between shots. I find it hilarious how PrepHoleommandos here regularly shoot their monitors while watching Cars though.
>Out in middle of no where at friend's ranch
>Get back to ranch house at end of night

>Point in safe direction. Pull trigger
>Gun fires
>wat.jpg
>Shell casing stuck in chamber
Clean your guns.
I only had one at a range when I was adjusting my grip. I was pointing down the range so it was fine, but it was still scary
J.C. Higgins guns are kino
>t. model 29 owner
> have you ever had an nd
Yes
>how did it happen
I was fucking my cousin and forgot i wasnt using protection
>what happened next
She died
Spotted this bad boy at the range yesterday. Made me laugh
The range I shoot at has a ton of holes in the metal roof, probably retards being retards out in the country but there's definitely some NDs in it too
I've been to indoor ranges with holes in the back wall behind the firing line.
>test safety on new broomhandle.
>It fails and the round goes off
>but it was at range so nothing of value was lost
Sucks to know it’s broken though and I don’t know how to fix it
you should test it again with the barrel in your mouth
Once.
>be me, 14
>me n’ dad shooting his shitty .40 s&w taurus in the woods
>stupidly long trigger pull with no clear break
>pull the trigger back and there’s no bang
>turn the gun to look at it with finger on the trigger
>BANG
>get ass chewed
>never again
Shot went down range, but it was still obviously fucking stupid. Remember, the beauty of the 4 rules is that if you only break one you’re still safe.
I wish he would have domed himself
Drunk handling a 10/22. Somehow got away with that while living with my parents. Said I just fell and broken the window.
>Be me
>Messing around with some AR pistol thing (not sure what it was)
>Put mag in, drop mag, rack back charging handle, pull trigger, repeat
>Mess up order by racking back charging handle after I put mag in
>Boom!
And yeah, I know I'm retarded for that, I've heard it a thousand times and I was the first to say it kek
damn did you heal up well
Yeah, healed wayyy better than I expected it to. Didnt lose any function in my hand either.
dude you have a cross scar in your hand now you can go circumcise demons or whatever
Right?? That's exactly what I was thinking!
all demon are gnomish, they already circumcised
This is why you don't carry with one in the chamber or even put a gun down without clearing it. Well done You are learning and evolving
>Never saw him again.
I believe that.
I think it was only one that went through the ceiling anyway, the rest were downrange.
co worker tried to catch a falling rifle, sent a green tip directly through his shoulder
passed through the perfect spot, if it was any other ammo type he would have lost his arm
>be selling a Lionheart LH9
>take a quick shit break from work at my apartment
>if I'm shitting on the clock I actually try ti be quick about it
>remember that I haven't taken pics of the gun to post yet
>get it out and snap some photos
>it looks dumb without the mag in, so I insert it
>before doing that, I took a few pics with the slide locked back so the slide was back while the (unknowingly) loaded mag was inserted
>done with pics, want to drop the slide and hammer and put it away
>release the slide (thought it was safe, didn't know mag was loaded, didn't fucking check because was in a hurry), and immediately pull the trigger once it was released
>suddenly my hearing was gone, no boom, no pop, no pain, no ringing for a good few seconds then ringing started slowly setting in
>I was putting myself in such a hurry that I had no idea what just happened, the recoil didn't resonate, the hole in the wall in front of me didn't resonate, it only came to me when the ringing set in then I realized wtf just happened
>I unload and yell I'M OK because neighbors can hear everything in that place
>I go knock on every nearby door to tell everyone what happened & everything is ok, in hopes they won't call the cops
>no one answers their door out of 5 neighbors, assume everyone is at work or didn't care, it was like 8am so maybe they slept through it
>a few minutes pass and no cops come, I just fuck off back to work but hang around the area, no cops ended up coming
>realize I got away with it (was sketched out I'd lose my job and get kicked out of apartment)
>I just fill the hole, and because the outside was wood grain I cut a piece of wood from another area of the building and glued it over
>no one ever noticed, apartment passes move-out inspection
>never spoken of it until now
Deleted the pics of that gun bc I always saw it as bad luck.
I weep for all the poor monitors and TVs that get murdered by idiotic PrepHoleommandos doing dry fire practice with loaded mags.
Most reasonable ND excuser. But for real if I had a gun business or a massive collection a shot thousands of rounds a month I probably would make a mistake. The 4 rules aren’t guaranteed to prevent ND, but it can mitigate the results. Keeps the ND down range or away from harm. That being said I believe it IS possible to never ND in a lifetime with proper determination.
>be me, conscript
>be marching around in the woods with my team
>BANG, right behind the troop leader
>WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT.png
I shit you not this was his words
"I wanted to check if the safety is on" so he played around with trigger
it was only practice ammo but still, that guy was an idiot in general
this is the reason why you give this young fucks no live rounds outside of the firing range and only RIGHT before shooting
>at local range
>attending my first pistol match
>double up ear pro because it just seems like a good idea
>owner of range going over course of fire
>doing a dry demonstration
>everyone has their ear muffs off to hear instruction
>owner NDs down range
>I'm the only one who doesn't have the EEEEEEEEEE
Must have been embarrassing for the owner
>double ear protection
Very based. Alway do squishys and head set myself. Very comfy just hearing the lightest taps of gunfire.
The bolt had some side to side play as it slid forward- which meant the extractor couldn't catch the lip of the round as when it hit the whole bolt would just jump to the side a little instead of forcing the extractor to engage. do that hard enough and the extractor could hit the rim hard enough to set the primer off. not a cool experience
there are no negligent discharges, only happy little accidents
