A MP5SD has ~130dB or so, a De Lisle is ~80dB and a Welrod ~70dB. For reference 300blk is around 130dB-140dB. Depends on the suppressor.

Looks like more of a glancing/angular hit if he was shooting at the same level. Would have been better if he hit an inch or two lower. Regardless, still surprised it didn’t penetrate since those are only rated for shrapnel.

Shit tier steel helmets maybe, good ones will comfortably stop 9mm and .45 ACP at point blank. While most steel helmets won’t stop projectiles as big as 9x39mm, it should theoretically be possible for one to deflect it at a high angle.

Its certainly basic, but its functional. A lot of people assume more baffles=better, but Maxim suppressors are supposed to be some of the best on the market and they only have 6 baffles in a very similar arrangement to the VAL. Some gemtechs have a comparable arrangement too.

They’re neat from a pure design/historical perspective (even if they’re pretty outdated nowadays), but at the same time it is a very niche weapon thats primarily meant for more urban counter terror operations rather than frontline use. Supposedly a bunch of Ukrainians bitched about them and went back to the AK since it turns out the subsonic rifle that can only shoot out to 300 meters at the absolute best kind of sucks if you’re a grunt at the front. That said I could see them being neat weapons for any sort of partisan/guerilla groups running around.

Ruskie commanders use SOF as LOC grunts because they think that le spetsnaz*~~ can triple backflip headshot all ukronazis in engagement range.
Also most of the OG ruskie SOF that had the best training were deleted during the first year of war. One spetsnaz brigade had personnell losses at 60%.
The bottom line is that Russkies have no idea what role(s) SOF should do so they waste them like retards. Any commabder should remember that SOF are still human and fall down to scream mama when shot in the gut like any other mobik.

I think the biggest problem is that what was considered Spetsnaz had a pretty big overlap. A lot of Spetsnaz units focused on anti terror type of shit in the interior after the collapse of the USSR and chaos of the 90’s/2000’s, it’d be like calling all SWAT teams in America special forces/operations then sending them right to some enemy position in a zerg rush because Delta Force is also one of those things.

Vatnigs on here cope non stop that their magic tungsten rounds would pen level 4 for realz but fail to understand that every study ever has always favored speed over the material of said small round. Also those three baffled barely silence it at all, now an mcx 300 blacked with a real can? Now that’s deadly

Armor piercing wasn't a requirement, just a happy accident. They wanted a subsonic round. They did the Russian thing by repurposing an old cartridge and necked it up to accept a heavier bullet for the sake of subsonic loads. Only after they started testing did it show good effect on armor

Plenty of dust cover mounting options will work if the gun is set up properly. The yugo aks have a locking dust cover and the 74u has a hinged one. Go back to twitter you noguns gay.

          Anonymous

The locking dust cover on Yugo AKs is a relic of their original design being designed for firing rifle grenades, same with the thicker trunnions.
It doesn't help with dust cover mounted optics retaining zero. The only thing that does is permanently attaching the dust cover to the receiver, usually with a hinge. There are aftermarket companies that make them for most AKs and a lot of the newer designs (including the VALs with railed covers ITT) have that hinge.

This picture always struck me as one of the most poignant examples of how fucking poor Russia is. That is a very low production, specialized rifle intended for usage by their most trained troops in a marksman role, and it only has fucking irons on it. Meanwhile, the Ukie has optics on his generic M4.

SOF in general are a bunch of hosers with slightly more roids and budget than the average infantryman, they are only special in their mission profile, not their excellence in combat skills

        >combat skills
I'm thoroughly convinced that in a modern warfare setting, fighting an equally armed opponent, no amount of training or experience can save you from the chaos of that many bullets being fired. It's all luck.

One could say the same thing about the JooSA commanders.

Why were there Navy SEALS on top of mountains in Afghanistan?

With us, it’s that the SOCOMM is now just another “ticket” for an officerFag to get “punched” on his way up the Pentagon “corporate chain”…so none of those idiots want to stay in their lane.

It wasn’t always so…in 2001-2002, the SF types overthrew the Taliban with something like >100 boots on the ground, (and a considerable amount of heavy bombers dropping precision goodies on the Mooj).

Once Big Army got into the act at Tora Bora, they stepped on their own dick and let OBL skedaddle.

And then they did “Viet Nam Part Two: Moslem Boogaloo”, by allowing the Taliban to have a safe refuge in Pakistan.

Russians had a severe lack of infantry manpower in 2022 so they used the Spetznaz as simple infantry troops complete with frontal assaults on Ukrainian positions with light armor.

GRU speznaz is more of an equivalent to US army rangers than to Navy seals or Delta. Not nearly as well trained tho, but they're one of the few units trained to do mechanised assaults (others being VDV and the Russian Marines). Russia has to use them if they want attack (human waves excluded, everyone can do those).

Ground Forces/GRU Spetznaz is the equivalent of the US Army Special Forces, the green berets.

I'd argue the VDV is more analogous to Rangers and the GRU is more analogous to Green Berets.

I honestly don't think Russia has anything truly analogous to Delta. I'm sure they have some kind of amphibious assault and underwater demolition units analogous to what SEALs were before they were just a worse CAG whose paychecks come from the Navy and can't stop starting podcasts and brovet skateboard companies lol

Russia essentially did the Niger ambush goof with almost every single SOF unit they sent to Ukraine, forgetting that large enough groups of basic bitch randos with rifles can gun down small groups of elite light infantry that lack any fire support or conventional infantry to come save them.

what does russia theoretically winning and supporting their war efforts have to do with each other?
Winning does not make one just. Russia's war is in both ideological and geopolitical opposition to the US, so you would have to be retarded to support it as a US citizen.
