Are they overrated as an SF Team or are they really THAT good?

They are about on par with royal marines

      I don’t think that’s the case

Royal Marines are good, but SEALS are actual SF, regardless of how many of them are desperate attention prostitutes once retired.

Royal Marines is a branch like the US Marines. Jobs can range from military police, field artillery, mechanic, etc. SEALs are nothing like that.

Nope, Royal marines are tier 2 SF just like SEALs

        >Jobs can range from military police, field artillery, mechanic, etc.
Nope. Artillery and engineering units are Army units seconded to 3 Commando Brigade.

Logistics is a mix of Army, Navy and Royal Marines. The RM ones are specialists involved in amphibious transport. General truck driver shit is an Army unit.
RM Police is just a platoon-sized unit that's ultimately part of the Royal Navy Police.

Completely wrong. The Royal marines have pogs. If anything they are more on par with army rangers. To liken them to SEALs is moronic

    >one apparently died recently trying to climb up a wet rope ladder with 30 kg of shit he didn't need immediately after dismissing a coast guardsman telling him not to do it
    >another died after jumping in to fish him out
    >are they overrated
perhaps ask one and he'll tell you his thoughts in his next book

Got a source? I don't see anything saying this.

Didn't 2 of them drown trying to board an unarmed ship recently?

Like most special forces they are good at overly planned scenarios, also they are good at swimming around and have had training in doing that.
Beyond that, they are light infantry that might not scare as easily and might shoot slightly better.

i think seals hire a specific type of personality, they're definitely the most 'death squad' out of all the SF branches.

SF effectiveness is also hard to gauge because of how much random chance is involved in sneaky missions and because of how FEW missions they are sent on comparatively.

Reminder that they left one of their allies to die. And when said ally received they Medal of Honor, the SEALS cried and b***hed until they got one too.

Frick the SEALs. All my homies hate the seals.

They used to have a significant advantage in that their parent branch, the Navy, didn't give a shit about them and so they were very autonomous in Vietnam and worked effectively with very little oversight. Since then that has changed, not really for the better, and its a weird case of them being more integrated into the larger force actually degraded some of their effectiveness, or at least uniqueness. ST1 and ST2 in Vietnam were nightmare fuel for the asiatics.

They look like rubber replicas, presumably because they get used in and around salt water a lot.

SEALS are very niche and specialized. They are best when swimming into harbors and scouting beaches. They are awful when asked to do missions that traditionally army SOF oriented. That's not what they trained for and importantly, they aren't prior infantry so they lack a foundation of good soldiering.
