    It’s federal, I can’t own a gun period. I’m I’m the state of Texas now, still can’t

Federal doesn't make you a prohibited person for a voluntary hospitalization. You must have been involuntarily committed or found mentally defective by a judge or medical board.

        Contact a lawyer.

Here's the ATF's PDF on it. You're probably not actually a prohibited person, but like

There was never any form of judge or any legal proceeding at all.

From what I understand, after I walked into the hospital for help they put me a hold. I guess NY state classifies that as a involuntary commie on some how and reports it to the fed

Perhaps NY state has grounds to deny you based on their state laws but that clearly doesn't apply to Federal law like

Why do you think you can't buy a gun in Texas? Did someone tell you this (Who?)? Or did you try to buy one and were denied?

Lawyer. Unless you were dumb enough to check "yes" on the 4473 when it asked if you had been committed.

You’re basically gonna have to talk to whatever dipshits treated you in New York to write you up an evaluation to pass along that you’re not a danger to yourself or others.

It's for the best, anyone who's ever needed psychological help are simply too much a risk for gun ownership. Might I suggest bird watching instead?

Exactly. We don’t need any more freaks ruining guns for us normal people.

Nah, just don’t be a fricking moron and do your therapy voluntarily. also helps if you don’t live in a shit state. I’ve got BPD (the crazy white b***h kind, not the lithium kind) and have been nailed for drug possession but I’m still free and legal to own arms because I checked my ass in as soon as my bail dropped. Even had a three day psych hold in the ward, still legal- because again, I went and committed myself like a good boy and paid my shit on time. Frick’s sake, they even let like 4 dirty piss tests go until they arrested me for probation violation.
Know your state’s policies first and foremost. He shouldve known better than to live in fricking new york and put up with their homosexualry.

Exactly. We don’t need any more freaks ruining guns for us normal people.

Being honest my guns, cats, and some very near and dear friends are the only things keeping me going anymore.
You can be crazy, just don’t be a fricking moron about it.

    >hospitalization for depression

We all struggle from time to time, some worse than others. And not everyone has close friends or good family to lean on when times are tough.
If you’ve never been depressed- and I’m talking “I wake up in the morning and drive to work and think about how I could flip my car off the side of the road to finally fricking die on a near daily basis” tier and not “I’m kinda sad right now guiz :<“ tier, you’re blessed! Some ain’t so lucky.
But sometimes just scheduling an appointment for therapy and talking shit out works better than getting put on that 3-day automatic hold and getting charged $2k for fricking hospital food.
But also some people are just fricking pussies that need to suck it up.

There was never any form of judge or any legal proceeding at all.

From what I understand, after I walked into the hospital for help they put me a hold. I guess NY state classifies that as a involuntary commie on some how and reports it to the fed

Just tell the full story of your commitment for frick’s sake.
3 day holds are standard, especially when you walk in and say “I’ve been thinking about suicide”. Legally they HAVE to fricking hold you for observation because they don’t want to get fricking sued by your family when they find out you walked up to a psych facility and said you wanted to die and they didnt take that seriously.
What’d they diagnose you as? Did they “force” you to stay or did you just not fricking pay attention to any paperwork you signed?
I know youre some dipshit grunt man but you either need to give the entire story or just accept the chorus of “talk to a lawyer dipshit”.

I got super depressed because of my mother dying and a close friends. Friend of mine got concerned about me and convinced me that it would be good to go to a hospital.

I went there and explained to them what was going on. They then brought me to their mental health ward.

Did a bunch of group therapy with other people, one on one sessions with therapists, it was super beneficial. i was deemed safe to discharge 5 days later and let out.

I’d contact a lawyer that specializes in gun rights cases. Considering it was voluntary and “just” for depression and not something like threatening others it shouldn’t be a monumental effort.

you just live with the mental illness. no homosexual doctor is actually going to solve it. taking medication to feel nothing instead of not happy isn't an answer. you just deal with it and keep going.
