    Interesting tank gear thread?
Pic related, boiling vessel on British tanks, for making tea and other such things.

It's for making tea. Since the British love tea.

It boils water. You can make tea or coffee and also heat rations in it without having to leave the tank/APC. It's a good idea and the US also uses something similar.

Americans should get one of these in every tank, but make it a deep fryer. You think a burger king truck is good for moral? Try fresh Mcdonalds fries right in your tank

What is the phone used for ? To talk to the guy inside ? The other tanks ? Commandment ? Order pizza ?

      >To talk to the guy inside
Believe it or not there is no other way to talk to them in the field.

And all tanks since forever have phones up the butt except it had to wait for IIRC the A1 version for it to re-become a standard on US tonks.

You mean the Halon/gas the crews now/ frick you and your maintenance readiness FUN Lever.

My fav was the TUSK kit because having poorly fitted MG armor plates that bind on everything and block the hatches, ERA that adds 2 more hours to track PMCS/maintenance from all the trash that falls in the slats and the new electrical and commo upgrades that deadline 70% of vics so some can't even shut off until you pull the fuel line just makes the work day more full.

Tell them to stop. Dont run us over. Tanks have very limited viz when buttoned up.

It's for speaking directly to the crew.

Tank has 2 radios inside that can fit in the mounts, typically one is for their company channel other is for platoon. Working with any other unit means they have to plan ahead and program in their shared channel over company net or program several channels and switch between all of them which would NEVER be done since it's too complicated and you'd likely miss info directly from Co. net( who DO have several radio channels operating with the other units) or the radios likely dump their fill and you lose a channel anyway. They do that, a lot. Mostly, there is no pre-planning and the tank platoon just happened to be in the area and gets told to help. Also, radio chatter from even 2 different units at the same time is worse than xbox live
      >t. 2006 ramadi tanker

The loader has the radio on his side of the turret and usually is the newest guy and one of his duties is making sure the radios are set pre-mission, but ON mission he is busy, loading/maintaining main gun/ammo for the coax/, assisting in or outside, grabbing shit from the bustle racks, scanning his sector, manning his MG. The TC COULD keep telling him when to switch channels but that's a waste of HIS time while he's scanning, directing the crew and coordinating movement with his section.

Tanks are big, hard to see out of and can move quick. Humans, cars and building are squishy so you try and keep distance from them and they try and do the same from you.

Instead of guy jumping on tank to talk and getting mulched by the turret, dragged into the sprocket or
M9'ed by angry surprised crew( almost happened by me once), if ground unit needs to coordinate with a tank: Tank Co gets told they need a short halt so ground team can talk to tank, Co tells tank to stop in safe place for units to talk, ground leader uses tank ass-phone, both team up to better do mission and now have new BII tradin buddies back at FOB.

Can anyone pick up the tank phone or is it just NCOs and officers?

Has anyone talked trash randomly to a random tanker over the phone and pretended nothing happened?

Same. It's funny because phone usage in ordinary life primes us to feel some way or another about phone calls, and putting those feelings into a warzone has a tinge of black comedy to it.

I like to imagine being an infantry wargame boy, talking to a garupan girl through the tank phone during a combined arms tournament. A- and maybe afterward too, because we're both shy. Too bad it's canon that boys in that universe play aerial wargames instead.

They should add this to vidya so I can shit-talk the tank crew after burying mines right behind their tracks.
