I almost bought a one of these pizza things but that looks like a big slop of shit.
For the price they charge for one of these I could buy a real pizza.

They're pretty decent.
It’s a glorified school cafeteria pizza.
Also PrepHole filtered the sentence “that looks like a big slop of shit.”
>It’s a glorified school cafeteria pizza.
Which for something that is supposed to be shelf stable 5ever and be ready to eat whenever is pretty decent.
I don’t think you can get school cafeteria pizza in the middle of the forest Anon with no power or cooking needed.
Not gonna happen with that attitude.
MRE isnt meant to be tasty or cheap, its meant to be stable and light weight
>and light weight
It's not even meant to be that. Half the weight and 2/3 of the bulk of an MRE is packaging.
For "less disciplined" militaries, it also can't be good enough that it gets eaten/sold before it's needed.
the pizza mre is vile, it tastes like a really old and stale lunchables pizza with a chemical after taste
the blueberry cobbler side is good tho, but neither item counts as food in my opinion
the best MRE is burrito chicken bowl or hash browns with bacon and peppers
That looks like a big slop of shit.
there’s something about bridgford products that makes me gag every time I try to eat one. mres are hardly fit for human consumption. I wouldn’t even let a dog have anything out of one.
I thought they got rid of hash browns
damn imma make sure and savor the last one i have then, it's amazing
I just bought an 18 pack of mre mains off of Amazon like a week ago and there were a couple of hash brown with bacon pouches included
Fricking Zoomers, I joined in 2005 and the pizza MRE was rumored to be in production from well before then. It took almost a decade to develop it. I was disappointed when I first had it but it's no where near as bad as the worst MRE ever. You youngins never beheld the terror of long term food
>VEGITARIAN CRUMBLE OMELET
a MRE so bad that it was assumed a spare meal in box 1. We would plan on box 1 only having 19 meals when requesting supplies. There was nothing to ratfrick in it, it was used only for spare TP and spoons.
I joined the Marines in 2006, can confirm the veggie omelet was one of the worst things I ever tried to eat in my entire life.
Best MREs were Beef Patty, Chicken Breast, and Chili Mac.
>beef patty
I can't touch them since I opened one with so much lard it looked like it was covered in cum
Gotta use the heater to melt the lard, my guy. Find a rock or something.
>Veggie Omelette
Oh that brings back memories. It was my first mre, so at least I got the worst one out of the way early.
With enough Tabasco its palatable.
I have eaten a lot of questionable food. Some of it bad enough I had to get drunk and hold my nose to gag it down.
The veggie omelette was the only food that I couldn't keep down. I was half way through and the damn thing came back up.
My next most hated as the maple pork patty. Everything in it was just so bland.
the hash browns if you actually get a chance to brown them are pretty good
i like the beef ones, especially if you save crackers from another menu
IMO all of the ones that are rice + beans + some kind of meat are pretty decent.
100% agree with this after trying a frick ton of MREs
That's because pizza is shit
>a food made with bread tomato and cheese is shit
here's an unrelated image that no one can draw any conclusions from what so ever.
Wtf anon, I'm racist now
in actuality I think it has to do with something like prevalence of sheep and goats as well as whether their milk as a part of the local diets
> Iceland but not Denmark/Norway
hmm
I'm from Korean origin and I know no one who is lactose intolerant. There's a high chance that this map is bullshit.
My buddie is Korean, he's lactose intolerant, allergic to nuts and bees.
Ok, do you know other examples ?
I didn't live in Korea but I have 100% Korean blood. I know other Koreans living in Europe and none of them have reported lactose problems to me. Maybe it has something to do with epigenetics, idk.
More like nuts and deez.
You’re not actually Korean frick face
>I almost bought a one of these pizza things but that looks like a big slop of shit.
Steve thinks it's extremely popular.
If you're in a situation where you're eating MREs, probably anything is going to taste good.
>For the price they charge for one of these I could buy a real pizza.
Then buy a pizza. The MRE is for when you can't.
i have no idea why you'd ever eat any of these while you're living in society. a compressed cube of macros with miscellaneous flavoring agent added is a lot more appealing when your body is burning 5000 calories per day and the nearest whataburger is 1100 miles away
if you want food then buy actual food, mres are bags of nutrients that are made to be indestructible before flavorful
this is like looking at a grazing cow and complaining that grass tastes like shit
why do you keep making this thread? stop it
A pizza MRE slapped my girlfriend’s ass and called me a b***h. I’ll stop when it apologizes
Frick ya mudda
seconded
>Southwest beans and beef
Best menu
I liked the chicken pieces in tortilla with the hot sauce (I actually mean that I liked it).
Spend months eating these and they'll lose their novelty superfast
It's OK. I personally wouldn't spend my own money on any mre though.
I buy french ones, the 2 meals one for 10€, and the 1 meal 5€.
10€? Where? I have seen only ridonculous prices as of late.
Still have a box, should last me till summer, but then i'm forced to live on nothing but food and drinks.
My local surplus store since I'm french. For that price it's a pretty good deal, considering all the stuff you have in a 5€ box. I use them for hiking. The US MRE were terrible compared to the French ones, and they have too much calories, seriously 10k is overkill, no wonder they become so fat.
Us mres do not have 10k calories lol dumb euro poor Frenchie they are 1300 calories maximum.
Right.
But i get him, it's a lot of stuff we would consider candy or dessert.
That's right I was slightly exaggerating kek. But I wouldn't want to eat those for an extended period. Also why do they feel the need to put chili in almost every menu ?
It’s cheap
Oh I thought it was because of beaners or something.
So I found a pic of my French MREs on my phone, and the big one shows 3600 calories, and that's for the whole day. I guess most NATO approved MREs give the same amount per day. I'd like to try the Italian and the Spanish ones, knowing them they must be alright.
It's one of the hardier and cheaper American dishes. Warm, meaty stew on a cold day goes a long way for morale, and, for Americans, chili tastes like home. It's one of the few distinctly American dishes that Americans across the line prepare and eat at home.
I think they're all pretty good. MREs I mean. I didn't even dislike the omelettes. I put some Cholula on the vomelette and it was OK I guess if I pinched my nose shut.
Chili Mac is king
Chili mac and beef with vegetables/beef stew are by far the best
That chili with beans turns ripping ass into CBRN training.
>For the price they charge for one of these I could buy a real pizza.
Thanks to drones, in the future you could probably door dash one to the frontlines of it doesn't get shot.
Depends on the source. Most chain restaurant pizza places are mass produced, processed ingredient cafeterias. But made-from-scratch, traditional Italian pizzas are the food of the gods.
even American-style pizza is fricking great if it's made fresh. Easy too, pizza dough is about as easy as yeast breads get. Need some tricks to cook it right without a proper pizza oven though.
What is cheap MRE in EU you would recommend?
>morale
You don't know what that word means.
the confidence, enthusiasm, and discipline of a person or group at a particular time.
good tasting food raises spirits in war. raised spirits in turn make the soldier fight harder. something as simple as having a coke goes a long fricking way when you're thousands of miles from home. the US places a huge emphasis on homey foods for their warfighters because it works. it's why you used to be able to get a whopper in afghanistan
>good tasting food raises spirits in war. raised spirits in turn make the soldier fight harder.
It reduces stressmarkers which allows soldiers making more rational decisions. There is an entire canon of science behind that.
And that is why most 3rd world military don't run at full effectiveness, they believe shit like what you wrote. There is no such thing as a fighting spirit that can be bribed with food.
you just said what I said except you used words like stressmarkers. it's the same god damn thing.
Which is the one with the jalapeno and cheese tube? It was great.
A bunch of them came with jalapeno cheese spread. If it didn't have that, it was usually peanut butter or something else to put on a cracker, but the jalapeno cheese was literally used as currency when I was in.
That remind me of cafeteria pizza in elementary school.
Are the cases of mres on Amazon worth it for prepping, or should I learn how to can and just can stuff?
>morons itt unironically eat the entrees
You get the disgusting ones, like creamy spinach fettuccine, because they have the best snacks. Better food, better bargaining power
I actually genuinely think MREs aren't half bad. They beat most of the shit made by the cooks at least. At this point, any soup or stew entree is gonna be pretty good. There's one MRE (I think #8?) that has a hashbrown entree and general breakfast theme, complete with dehydrated oat cereal, and that one is definitely my favorite overall. Chicken pesto entree is another good one.
I have training at Camp Lejune in March. Looking forward to trying some MREs
I'm going to be your drill instructor, get that bussy ready.
>drill instructor
Nah, I'm going out for expeditionary training
I like shredded beef BBQ and burrito bowl. Honestly most of them aren't bad.
None of the mres taste good because of all the preservatives in them.
I heard that most deployed people will say the food they get on base tastes like 5 star dining after they've been eating mres for a while.
Where to order MREs
Amazon, ebay, hiking supply stores.
>amazon
>ebay
Sounds like a good way to get MREs filled with sewer meals from China. I'll check them out.
Not hard to look up reviews of the seller.
I think the best place is Ebay from a storefront that specializes in mres
In addition to Amazon and, eBay, there are always random boxes being sold at gun shows. esafetysupplies.com tries to have a good supply on hand as well.
If you're looking at civvie options, picrel is the best. Avoid A-Packs, they're the absolute worse.
If they gave a frick about morale they would be putting chocolate bars and cigarettes in rations again. This shit is hardly considered food, its closer chemically to a sneaker. They should just be giving out canned fruit and beans and meat again or have mobile mess kitchens , MRE are 100% some sort of MIC contract nepotist israelitery. They arent even cheaper or more nutritious.
>They should just be giving out canned fruit and beans and meat again
Not gonna lie, the Russian rations have cans of spiced buckwheat with beef, pork or chicken. That shit is really tasty and comfy.
German MREs have kale with smoked sausage, the french have salmon and oriental thuna salad, real food.
Problem is the same amount of calories has a lot more weight than the highly processed and almost waterless MRE. MRE is a product of high end logistics.
French RCIR/RIER. Very nice but they dont use FRH, they use a hexi stove.
MRE is something you can store in a 140 degree warehouse for three years and then issue to a Joe to eat a few days into a foot patrol.
Beef Stew is still the best IMO
Vegetarian MREs are the best MREs
>t. Vegetarian
Holy shit guys I just opened some gas station beef jerky and it’s not a 5 star steak?????? What the frick is going on ahhhhjhhhh
Try to find some French ration packs. I haven't tried them myself but they're supposed to be really good.
would you prefer pemmican or hard tack?
