Moving ammo

How would you move ~20k rounds across 4 states (1500 miles)? Seems like most companies prohibit ammo...

I knew a dude who moved his extensive wine collection cross country in a mini van and got pulled over, the cop gave him shit for an hour about the wine and made him open all the cases on side of freeway!
    >Put it all in a box like picrel and send it on its way with any moving company!

Find a company like PODS that drops a storage container in your driveway, you load it and they take it wherever you want, I have done this.

There is a no ammo clause in the contract, but expect for a fire or police search it shouldn't be a big deal?

20k would be too heavy to try to move in one box. If it isnt already, I would put it in ammo cans to make easier to move, then load it into the rear passenger footwells (assuming you have a car), so the weight doesn't bottom out the rear suspension like it would if you put it in the trunk.

If you have a pickup, take the time to load it at the front of the cargo box. You can keep it one ammo can high and just pack them tight and you should have no problem. Don't speed, not because you could get pulled over, but because it will take longer to stop. Drive like you're pulling a trailer.

Have moved three times with 20k+ rounds of ammo
Have them all in fat 50 cal cans
Rented a small Uhaul box van and moved it myself
      No problems

    20k is between 20 x M2A1s (5.56mm) to at most 200 x M2A1s (.50cal) so one layer on a pallet to a maximum of 3 pallets.
5.56mm just put it in your car, or hire a van/trailer.

Throw it in this thing called a vehicle, and drive it. That's only about 1000lbs or less.

I moved a few years ago with just under 50k rounds in something like 40 ammo cans, 30 cal, 50 cal, and a few larger types like 20mm boxes. Was a massive pain in the ass. I had a truck which made it slightly easier.

I used the MTM trays specific for metal cans (they have versions for plastic boxes). And wrapped them in black trash and to make it less obvious what it was.
This time Im planning on stacking the trays about 4 high (which would be 12 .50 cal cans or 16 .30 cal cans) and running 4 allthread rods throuh the mounting holes with washers and nylon nuts to tie everything together, then transport with a cardboard box on so it looks like a mini fridge.

Uploading them at night into a hotel room seems unwise, even for a homosexual.

Just leave them in your trunk, if you don't have a car covered in gun company stickers or are traveling to California you should be fine.

WTF are you talking about? moving companies? That's easy:

    >"yeah guys, this is my box of collectibles. they are fragile, so please handle with care."

and that's it. they literally will never open a box that you already sealed up. and the guys loading don't give a shit what's in the box anyway.

if you're actually that worried, use PODS and load/unload everything yourself. Or use PODS and hire some randos to do the heavy lifting for you. When I moved from PA to AZ, we used PODS, spent 2 weeks packing & loading, let them truck it cross-country for us, and then hired some bros from ASU to unload the pod for us. it was simple as fuck. no one ever bothered to check any of the boxes for prohibited items, it was all just paperwork we had to sign.

other than that, you could always just drive it yourself. either use your personal vehicle or rent one. unless you drive like a moron, you won't be stopped or checked anywhere in the USA.
