Mountain bikers are the most obnoxious, entitled people on the trail. Their presence is not only destructive to wherever they go, they push out anyone else trying to share the trail. You are not in good company and should go back to whatever shithole tolerates this awful "sport".
Then go to whatever community is going to circle-jerk and whine about hikers taking down their sweet jumps so the people going PrepHole can actually hike instead of having to climb around mountain biking bullshit.
Having grown up in North California where this was supposedly "invented," I can say that this type of entitlement includes all forms of trail transport, with the equestrians being the leaders. Once I left California, I left this BS behind. Everyone gets along, and we help each other. I'm not saying where because we are now too crowded due to pandemic exodus. We've had to put up etiquette signs in all the shops, remind people that we are a cool place because people are kind to each other.
>ATV's (loud, obnoxious c**ts; might hit you) >offroad motorcycles (loud, obnoxious c**ts might hit you) >people on horseback (entitlement, danger of horse getting spooked - might hit you) >mountain bikers (might hit you)
women taking selfies every 30' are probably deserving of mention as well.
just writing this out makes me never want to go to any popular trail. poor east coasters.
Horseback riders, at least where I live, are respectful and usually nice, but I always get off trail and give them extra room. They don't bother me as much due to them being quiet and slow. Mountain bikers are much worse in my experience, but even then I can't be mad because most trails don't allow them. If I hike on one that does that's on me.
i had a pretty dece hardtail i didn't use for years that i gave to some random dude who let me borrow his truck when i was moving. he didn't think he was gonna get anything for helping me out & he seemed so hyped about it going on and on about what mods he was going to do when he took it home and all that. then two days later he tweaked out on drugs and shot my friend's mom. i wish i still had that bike lol.
I regularly disembowel mountain bikers. Always carry peanut butter, pouches of salmon and dry dog food with me so that I can apply them to the corpse and make it appear as if a bear was to blame. If you ride a mountain bike anywhere near where I’m walking your life is in imminent danger, simple as
Funny thing i don't live in a city and my town/ village is too small to have a park so basically all the open land is like a park.
Tons of old dirt track roads in any direction, many abandoned pastures. I rarely see others out anywhere i go. Even before covid hysteria.
it's a fun sport being ruined by e bike boomers lately but otherwise require good fitness unlike PrepHoles indoor larpers and with minimal gear you can camp further and explore more in warm season
I immensely enjoy road and mountain biking with tarp camping in summer
Just call it riding - bikepacking, mountain/gravel biking are all words created by citygays.
Most of the community around it are decent but massive geargays, if you want to do it properly just take a backpack, fat bike and your dog, and go off trail. Winters the best time to do so
If it's PrepHole and powered by your body effort then it's PrepHole and can and should be discussed here. If you use ebikes or anything with a motor then you belong on PrepHole or /n/.

Try PrepHole
Better mtb discussion there by a long shot
Better mountaineering threads there too. For some reason PrepHole could never manage mountaineering threads.
