What are they? I just got an M4 and want to know what packs the biggest wallop with slugs and 00 buck.
So far 3" 1oz 1600fps Federal slugs have been the king of what I tested. Kicked incredibly hard, giant 3' flash in front of the muzzle in broad daylight. Anything better out there?
>Anything better out there?
Well I dunno about "better", but harder recoiling? You bet. Get your hands on some Brenneke Black Magic slugs. The Magnum Crush is even more powerful but that requires a rifled barrel.
You'll probably find birdshot loads heavier than even the heaviest buckshot. Large buckshot doesn't pack very efficiently in a shell compared to birdshot. The heaviest weight shells are usually turkey loads.
Gentlemen...
https://seismicammo.com/product/2-5-oz-12-gauge-slug-single-box/
It's heavy, but it's less powerful than the Brennekes and several others. Velocity isn't very high. Taufledermaus tested them a while back.
Depends on if he wants energy, weight, or size of hole/holes. A double slug or good expanding slug is going to leave more meat displaced than rounds that might have more energy or total mass, but those might be preferable in certain circumstances.
That 2.5 ounce slug is a meme product for someone who wants to brag about having the heaviest slug. It is neither the most recoiling nor the most energetic slug on the market.
>double slug
also a meme. What are you going to talk about next, dragon's breath?
> good expanding slug is going to leave more meat displaced than rounds that might have more energy or total mass, but those might be preferable in certain circumstances.
Irrelevant, since OP asked us for the "most powerful" slug. He just cares about numbers not anything practical.
What about it? Like
already mentioned buckshot doesn't pack very efficiently in a shell. That's about 1 3/4 ounces, many bird loads are heavier and faster.
I would say "most powerful" in terms of effect on target. It's definitely the strongest buckshot load I've seen and has an obscene amount of pellets for 00.
18 pellet 00 is a thing, but like 15 pellet it's also pretty much a meme. Beyond 9 pellets your pattern gets really iffy, and recoil sucks ass since they're having to skimp on the wad to fit that many pellets in a shell. Super high velocity numbers are also a bit of a meme for shotshells because the shot has such poor aerodynamics that most of that velocity is lost in the first 10 yards.
You'd be deadlier with low-recoil police buckshot, 8 or 9 pellet, than you would with some super huge meme shell.
>You'd be deadlier with low-recoil police buckshot, 8 or 9 pellet, than you would with some super huge meme shell.
Unless your first shot is right on target. Either would do more than enough, but making the guy 50% deader is never a bad thing.
It literally doesn't matter. Size of the shell isn't a limiting factor in shotgun power, maximum chamber pressure is: https://youtu.be/Xs5aDyUEhzc
2 3/4", 3", and 3 1/2" have negligible difference in effect on target with buckshot or slugs. Larger shells are useful only for hunting birds where you need more volume to make up for lower density of nonlead projectiles. With any combat loading, it's just additional recoil for no benefit, and with a lot of 3" and 3 1/2" loadings there's an actual detriment in effect on target vs 2 3/4" offerings.
What the frick is a himars?
ummm sweetie, this isn't a vatnik bashing thread, so it's off topic on /k/, perhaps you meant to post on /misc/ ???
dont worry i just got a second warning for abusing reports at the 20ish himars threads running currently.
>tfw you've actually had better discussions about guns on /misc/ than on /k/
I swear the more off topic a post is for a board the better the fricking discussion is
SHOULDER DISLOCATOR OVER 9000 OUGHT BUCK GANGRAPE MEGASHOCK +P
Google it
No
idk about 3" but look at THIS shit
Federal 8-pellet 00 with a Flitecontrol cup. That's the real shit.
You don't need the craziest huge frickoff 00, just like you're not going to run turkey birdshot loads just because they're strictly more weight of shot. Masaad Ayoob used to advocate for running a 20 gauge, even.
>Masaad Ayoob used to advocate for running a 20 gauge, even.
Massad Ayoob is known for having some absolutely moronic advice too, 20 gauge guns are lighter, which means more recoil, there’s less loadings and they’re smaller, so less terminal effectiveness and there’s less 20 ga models in general.
Just crap advice.
That guy's whole existence is weird as hell to me. He's like this Boomer Arab israelite cop that's been around in the gun community for like 40 years or something. Old, non-white gun types always throw me for a loop and I say that as non-white gun guy.
>Anything better out there
Yes, lower recoiling loads that will let you actually fricking hit your target more consistently. More "wallop" is not a good thing.
In case this is what you're really asking:
For defense stockpile, youre looking for 3" Steel BBs - usually "eco-friendly" Waterfowl shells. Faststeel is one good brand. Birdshot is too small to cause fatal wounds. Buckshot has a low yield. BB is just right to have the best odds of causing fatal penetration. And steel, too, thats important. Lead deforms and doesnt penetrate, steel does.
You’re looking at a MAX 60yd effective range with BB shot, 00 buck is more terminally effect past double that at 120yds.
At 120 yards 00 buck is going to cease to have a pattern at all
