most fun gun for 1k

If you had 1k suddenly given to you to buy a fun gun, what gun would you buy and why?
keep in mind main idea is its fun to shoot, not how useful or tacticool or whatever it would be.
i ask because I just got 1k and I'm looking for a fun gun to buy...

Seconding this. Revolvers are tons of fun. Earlier this year, I was getting bored and disinterested with shooting, but I bought a Ruger LCR and shooting it puts a smile on my face like shooting a 12 Gauge did when I was a kid.

good luck finding one for 1k that's not beat to shit or has that disgusting "wasteland" or whatever finish

What guns are fun to shoot will depend on your own preferences. I love revolvers so I'd get a Smith and Wesson (of which I have a half dozen) in a fun and inexpensive caliber (probably .357 or .38, but maybe .45 ACP).

10/22, mags, some cheapo chink optic from amazon, maybe a thread adapter, rest in ammo.

what's the best model of mkIV? the lite looks pretty neat, especially pic related with the wood grips. Is it just an aesthetic choice, or is the regular MkIV better by far?

          I'm

          Ruger Mark IV Target ($550)
Extra magazines and .22 LR ammo ($450)

, I prefer the Mark IV Target models. Don't care for the Lite models as all of them seem to have some annoyingly anodized part that doesn't match the rest of the gun.
I also don't like the plastic grip frame of the 22/45 and it's extended baseplate magazines.
The standard Mark IV with the tapered barrel is OK, but no threaded barrel options.
The Mark IV Target is the best in my opinion. Classy all-metal gun with adjustable target sights and the option of a threaded barrel.

Fun is a really subjective term.
The most fun gun I own is a Keystone Crickett. That's a single shot .22lr bolt action literal child's rifle. But I use it to split cards at 25 yards.
The next most fun gun I have is fun because it's ridiculous, but it's also more than 1k. That's my Ruger Super Redhawk in 44mag. Maybe if you can find one of those cheap somehow?
Maybe get yourself a mid range lever gun?
Oooo. Or a single shot rifle in 45-70! That could be fun.
    Side by Side shotty.
Over under in different calibers, like the Savage model 42. Get it in .410/.22mag and it's a fun plinker and a really good backpack/survival gun that can take down any small game you want from birds to coyote.
An AR maybe? I love my AR for what it is and what it does, but I don't find it fun. But maybe an AR would be fun for you.
.22 revolvers are fun, and even the expensive ones are less than 1k.
Honestly Anon, it comes down to what's "fun" for you. But for 1k, you have a lot of options.

These are usually slightly more than 1k but I was going to say the same. Finally got a chance to shoot one recently and it was really fun. I think a binary trigger(quite expensive for an mp5 tho) would be really really fun.

That said I'd also nominate a Canik Rival-S (steel frame version of the Rival competition gun). It's a 9mm steel frame competition handgun that comes with pretty much everything you need to shoot a pistol really fast including great ergos and a very, very nice trigger. Some guy named Nils Jonassan just won the USPSA Carry Optics national championship using a Rival, I'm pretty sure his was a polymer framed version for that but now they have a steel frame version thats even better.

Check this out, that's the guy i'm talking about. Canik really is a good company and I'm saying this as someone who exclusively shoots Glocks. Probably gonna get a Rival S as soon as I can though cuz I wanna shoot competitions.

I'd make a mosin obtez pistol.

I'd put a break on it and punish zoomers at indoor ranges.

10/22 takedown with a nice red dot, Magpul backpacker stock, and a binary trigger. Volquartsen extractor, I'd spend the rest on ammo.

a model 10 if you can still find one
a beretta apx, you can STILL find new old stock full size models for under %400
and the 92fs is great fun too
or you can build a GINO 19/17/17L, especially an L with a good drop in trigger. double double for the silly colors they still make slides and frames in
get a ruger vaquero, kinda want one ngl
or you can go full ghetto route and get a draco or MPA Defender with the top charging handle
you could also get one of the big four semi-auto 22's, mkiv/victory/buckmark/tx22 and have unlimited plinking fun

are the beretta cheetahs fun to shoot?

I got my Marlin 1894 CSBL for just shy of 1k, if we're allowing original prices I'd buy it again. If not, another MPA defender but this time the one that uses Glock mags over the base model (or frick it, another base model so I can dual wield like a baller)

Maybe a beretta 1301 on sale/used or one of those mossberg 500 series semi-autos. That's what I would do because that's what I plan on doing here soon. Semi-auto shotguns are tons of fun.

I would buy a Ruger 10/22. It's lightweight, easy to carry and very affordable. It's also incredibly safe and easy to maintain. Plus, the folks at Ruger have designed the 10/22 to be incredibly user friendly and highly accurate. The gun is incredibly reliable, so you can count on it to work, even in the most extreme conditions. Plus, the 10/22 is also a ton of fun to shoot. It's great for practicing accuracy and elevation, plus it's a blast plinking cans or just shooting paper targets. All-in-all, the 10/22 is an amazing "fun" gun.
