Why has Mi-28 barely been seen in Ukraine btw?

    Plenty of Mi-17's, Mi-24's and Ka-52's.

Havoc is my fav helicopter in theory, but I'll never know its true potential since it's in the hands of morons.

        VDV is enough.
Every VDV man is a helicopter in himself already.

Soviet/Aviation suffer from the same low-cost vs high cost as ground vehicles, only since aircraft really aren't cheap they suffer more than the army
      >Soviets working on KA-50s
      >Russians go for adopting
      >o fugg its kind of expensive
      >let's make a cheaper alternative
      >enter the mi-28
      >o fugg its still kind of expensive because it's a helicopter
      >doesn't get made in huge numbers
      Same story as mig 29
That being said, I think the MI-28 is one of the meanest attack choppers ever made, and wish it was adopted by a more western aligned power for some proper upgrades

Because it's a shit helicopter even by russian standards. Some were used early on and mogged by AA. Since then they've stopped using them because at least Ka-52 has some long range ATGMs, while Mi-28 is just useless.

      the tail fell off

        Anonymous

        Is that typical?

          Anonymous

No it's not very typical. These helicopters are usually build so the tail doesn't fall off.

            Anonymous

It's probably more typical than you think when some sort of man-portable SAM strikes the tail, which is what looks to have happened. Considering the helicopter was at speed at the time that is a whole lot of stress to put on a badly damaged tail structure.

Crazy that I feel sad watching cool Russian vehicles get destroyed but feel amusement watching ziggers get blown up. Soviet aesthetic plus moronic paintjobs is just too cool.

      Anonymous

It may be garbage functionaly, but Soviet design aesthetic is distinct and has left a permanent imprint on the psych of both the west and east. Old pac countries are going all in on western designs, and it is very apparent at this point that Russia proper is spiraling the bowl and will be unable to create new designs, much less produce in a very short time. That just leaves poos and chinks for non west designs, and God are they awful.
Brazil stop shitting the bed and start producing indigenous designs, your our best hope.

Too bad helicopters in general are obsolete in a frontline combat role. They’ll have a place in our hearts forever like battleships but they’re basically done with as a real combat aircraft type. The Ka-52 only racked up a kill count it did in Ukraine because the Ukie frontline positions are just really thin and weakly equipped — and even then these things can only snipe vehicles at maximum range and can’t get in to do any real ground-support with their guns and rockets.

stfu dronegay. You reformist morons already killed FARA and are going to go for the AH-64E next. Of course all of your homosexual Wish.com drones aren't going to be much good when you're fighting an enemy with competent short-range AA and EW support.

but short range AA kills choppers even more than drones. helicopters cant fly into enemy territory anymore and they cant fly over the frontline either. they are limited to secured airspace over friendly territory. that isnt really useful.
