Memes aside, was this design actually based and viable in 1973?
>small and easily deployable
>relatively quiet compared to a rifle
>very little risk of overpenetration in urban environments
>.357 magnum still carries a massive punch out to 150 meters
>very accurate in single action
its viable now, what more do you want?
It's probably the best revolver ever made. I want one for bear protection.
Hell, I'd probably carry one (minus the sniper accessories) if they weren't a gorillion dollars and impossible to find.
There's always the newer ones imported by Beretta. Expensive, but I'd be surprised if there quite as expensive as an older one that hasn't been beat to hell.
Those are the ones I'm referring to. Like $3,500 and never in stock.
>$3,500
Fuck me, I don't even wanna think about what Korths must cost these days. That's just depressing.
MR73's are better than Korths.
have you ever even touched a revolver?
Yeah, and MR73's are still better in every conceivable way. Plus they are engineered to last for literally 100k rounds as opposed to your overpriced garbage target/sporting revolver.
>they are engineered to last for literally 100k rounds
anon you should know that isn't really unique to MR73s. you only like them because of their mystique and you dont like korths because they're racegunny. your opinions on this subject are 100% superficial and emotional.
>anon you should know that isn't really unique to MR73s.
Proofed durability by a special force.
>you only like them because of their mystique
You'd be a retard not to. Arguably the most legendary revolver in existence, up there with the Colt SAA.
>dont like korths because they're
Overpriced and not nearly as durable.
>your opinions on this subject are 100% superficial and emotional.
Fuck ya mudda
Oh, and also Korths literally look fucking cringe. It's like the revolver every noguns redditor would design.
Ah you went too far with that one troll It's just a revolver like any other.
Fuck, that bluing is so sexy. I need one and a French girlfriend with smelly feet.
And no, I'm 100% serious. Korths are actually cringy and tryhard looking.
Oh Korth yeah they have some retard models but they also have plain jane models.
Nah, it just doesn't even compare. That right there is a gun without any history or actual duty use. It's a totally artificial firearm sold for the same price as something legendary as the MR73. It's not right.
i actually agree with this anon
revolvers are fucking fuddy to begin with so why not spend it on something unique that will actually only increase in value over the years instead of some mall ninja interpretation of it?
NEVER call muh lovely baguette gat fuddy.
Being required to be able to fire hundreds of rounds of pissin hot 357 every single day for 30 years is a pretty fucking unusual requirement.
That's the excuse. Why not just get a .44 Mag in some stainless flavor instead and a nice rifle? If you're serious about the woods you go loaded for combat and able to magdump 30 rounds into anything is a nice advantage.
Because I'm a hunter, not a mall ninja. I also like owning nice shit, already have a very nice rifle in .300 win mag and 6 rounds of .357 mag is perfectly adequate for bear protection.
so you don't really have a justification other than you want it.
No other justification is required. Verification not required.
its just a very well represented industry lobby
>we're totally on your side because charlton heston
>I want one for bear protection
Stop lying to yourself, moron. you want a badass toy and you're trying to justify it. You can spend >2k on your nice gun if you want to, just dont lie about it.
>using .357 Mag for protection against Yogi
but why?
His bitch wrists can't handle .41 Magnum.
It was a good gun for a VERY niche role. Had something to do with some building they would pull security in or something that had some high up area that wasn't big enough to prone out with a rifle in.
>It was a good gun for a VERY niche role. Had something to do with some building they would pull security in or something that had some high up area that wasn't big enough to prone out with a rifle in.
stop bullshitting and shut up. Thanks.
large cal revolvers wit pistol scopes were all range in the 70s but the fact is the scopes did not last long and you are not going to get great accuracy out of something that has a bipod clamped to the end of the barrel. I'm a huge fan of 44Mags but they are best served in five inch pairs. Some things get made just because they can be, optics like pistol scopes had just become affordable and available to the masses for the first time. Pistol scopes are incredibly hard to use though freehand.
>stop bullshitting and shut up. Thanks.
I'm not even memeing It was like the president's palace or some shit and there were these little windowed alcoves at the top of the building they would set up in.
>Pistol scopes are incredibly hard to use though freehand.
Yeah. But I'd rather have a scope on something like pic related than a bipod.
If you're in basically a closets worth of space standing with your revolver, there might simply not be room to shoulder it. The application for it is hilariously niche and applies to basically noone other than those tasked to provide security to French leaders in one very specific palace.
they could have easily used a brushgun instead but back in the 80s most counter-terror/SF shit was all about machismo and idealism
Until the Munich incident didn't most police forces in Europe have heavy restrictions on the kinds of arms they could even procure? I seem to remember something about German, belgian and French police forces not even possessing proper marksmans rifles or even long semi autos until after.
In an Urban setting where the stairwell you have to set up shop in for security detail outdates you by 300 years? I'd argue there's reason to keep this in rotation.
Super Niche use cases aside, There is no time in which an insanely well-built revolver isn't based and Viable.
10/10 Would use to euthanize Christian Weston Chandler from afar.
>Man you're in
It came about due to hunting season regulations with long rifles and pistols.
Pistols had loopholes at one time, allowing more zones and longer seasons.
Now people actually hunt with pistols.
I'd take a MR73 deer, bear or bear hunting without hesitation. Probably even elk and moose.
deer, bear or boar*
