6e is absolute drek, and not in the grognards-hating-the-new-edition way, it's universally despised.

        This

6e is absolute drek, and not in the grognards-hating-the-new-edition way, it's universally despised.

Also, they wrecked a lot of the lore for 6E because they had no good ideas left for how to evolve the setting.

Give me Anniversary Edition and the 2050-2070 setting any day.

It's fricking pathetic that 4E (which when I started was considered actual horse manure compared to 3E or 2E) is now considered good.

I think 5e is still the most playable, warts and all. Just stay away from the later books (and if you can read German, play their version of 5e instead. If only Pegasus had the rights to the IP...).

If the monofilament is so strong why don't they make armor out of it that would be 10,000 times as strong?

Better join the Hanza Security. Easy work without too many hardcore modifications and you get to play with latest models of military grade SMGs.

I find this idea being one I invest a considerable amount of autism on, if only because the way augmentations are typically depicted tend to bother me let alone how they are used and distributed.

That said, lesser form of space marine/spartan style augmentation seems like it would be the way to go if you're going to give your life to eternal service for military purposes while everyone else gets high tech peg legs and hook hands in the form of mechanical prosthetics because their limbs keep getting blown//chopped of or stupid enough to think your fancy metal hook hand is better than a flesh and blood one.

Laser blinders mean new eyes will be all the rage in the future if we can make them work.

Presumably you'd just give everyone easily replacable helmets or glasses that protect the eyes and still offer stuff like HUD and what not. Not everything needs to be shoved inside of your meat suit.

just wear sunglasses moron. you think the future infantryman won't have some sort of polarized visor or googles or whatever-the-shit to defeat against shit like that?

            >sunglasses
Any cyberpunk eyegear worth its salt would be completely opaque, it would have sensors externally to gather information and then relay this information internally to the user's eyes.

The laser thing is a universal problem anyway - if it will frick up your meat eyes, it will frick up the sensors on your eyegear, and it will frick up your surgically implanted robot eyes. Out of the three, tossing the burned-out visor is actually the easiest method since it's the only one that doesn't in any way involve scooping inside your skull with a melon baller.

So "smart bullets" that fly around corners and shit are complete fantasy aren't they? Outside the possibilities of physics

You could put a computer in a largish round and have it make tiny adjustments to course that could make it far more effective, especially at extreme long ranges, but these changes will be so minute that it will still appear the bullet is traveling in a straight line (or a downward curve like bullets do, you know what I mean here, no fricking 90 degree red baron zigzags)

Basically yes, that kind of change in momentum would be ridiculous. What you could do, is have shaped charge airburst rounds or grenades that throw the shrapnel into a thinnish cone perpendicular to the path of the round. Your onboard computer determines range to your target, say they're 20 meters down a hallway, hiding behind a corner. It would then program the round to detonate at 20 meters with the detonation facing the chosen corner.

You could also do larger course correction with something like a computerized gyrojet round, but that has issues at close range.
