There exists speed loaders for pump action shotguns, with options up to 7 shells I believe. They might be worth looking into if you don't want to buy a separate mag-fed shotgun.
They are neat, but in the most typical configuration the magazine is in an inconvenient location for racking the pump, because your forearm is liable to bump into the magazine body.
There are different magazine positions and types that can get around this problem though.
Theoretically the only remaining problem is reliable feeding with shotgun shells, particularly deformation of the front of the hulls if left loaded long term. This isn't always a problem though, since many magazine designs have a steeper feed angle in order to place most of the spring tension on the steel/brass base rather than the entire hull.
The tube is there, but it no longer functions as a magazine. One advantage is that capacity is no longer tied to barrel/tube length, but with most of these shotguns still being 18"+ and capacity around 5 thanks to import/NFA laws.
You dont really gain anything but easy of reload with them. They dont save on weight or space, there are more cons than pros. Funny enough the people I see pushing for them are the same ones who refuse to buy guns that don't use mags they already own.

I've always wanted to design a 20 ga. Double stack mag-fed shotgun but im too retarded to use a CAD program
>20 rounds in a magazine that's similar in height to a 5.56 stanag >something like .3 inches wider assuming you stack at a 45 degree angle
My math is probably fucked up somehow but it would still be really cool
I need a drum mag on a maverick 88
get yourself one of them 590Ms
good luck on the drum part though, plus operating a pump action with a drum in the way is a bit awkward
I have literally never thought about this...
.... but now I need one
baste

I'm a boomer when it comes to my shotgun taste. If it were me I'd buy a tube before a mag, but there's nothing wrong with them!
Me though. My heart belongs to break barrel shotguns
I think they are a bit silly, since you still have the tube mag on it.

shotgun mags are bulky and shitty and don't allow you to switch ammo types as easily as a tube or top off

Spas-15 chads, where we at?
Very nice
is that hard to get? also how much did it cost?

To add there's 180 that got imported into the US.
They're common in Europe.

he owns a SPAS-15 and a SPAS-12, he's either wealthy enough to own a transferable full auto or he's a dealer/cop armorer
Or the slight chance he’s a European with all the fancy permits.
It's a transferable.
I'm American.

Wish I could shoot a pump with a box mag. Retarded looking but at the same time I really like how they look, especially with a pistol grip.
