Pics of the new SEPv4 Abrams upgrade just dropped on 2-12 Cavalry Regiment's facebook
External differences seem to be:
>New gunner sight in the doghouse
>New meteorological sensor
>LWR or situational awareness cameras mounted where smoke dischargers used to be
what's with the tube?
Air conditioner
comfy
Necessary if they're going to leave it sitting out in the heat without the APU running while people pop in and out of it to evaluate the inside.
Why are they still desert painted goddamnit, when are we gonna get some woodland painted(not green, but actual woodland camo) tanks again?
>again?
They pretty much never were.
>Why are they still desert painted goddamnit, when are we gonna get some woodland painted(not green, but actual woodland camo) tanks again?
Did you not notice that those guys are literally in a desert?
i thought it was a basic factory color, like panzergrau
>Promotion ceremony is the opsec compromise
Thanks
couldn't they find someone who doesn't look like a total embarrassment for pics like that? jesus
90% of enlisted are total embarrassments. comes with the territory
Look at how much armor they added to the turret face holy shit
anyone got a SEP2 from a comparable angle?
so we can see how much thicker it is
were they worried about next-gen 125mm rounds?
or is their latest 120mm round capable of beating them frontally and they are assuming if they can other people might
dumping my comparison pics
1/???
this pic is probably the best as you can see just how much they elongated the turret cheeks on SEPv3 and v4
what's the thickness and material of that applique armor
no one has any idea
I'm a horrible judge of length and I'm gonna guess that's about 9 inches of additional cheek over the SEPv2. But who knows what material it is? Could be simple RHA, could be even more DU-composite-steel sandwich layers.
if the turret was elongated without a total redesign, its probably just more NERA
the turret is probably 75% NERA already, due to how easy it is to just slap more of them on
why do they all look like overweight manlets? wtf
Tankers tend to be manlets yes.
>short people fit in the tank better
>don't need to be as physically fit because you ride around in an impenetrable fortress 24/7
Not true at all, when I was an Abrams Crewman we were constantly doing ruck marches, running, etc. I'm also 6 foot.
These guys are just fat mexicans.
Manlets are preferable for tank crews, but they shouldn't be fat, big nono
>they shouldn't be fat, big nono
fricking wut?! the entire armor and cav are fat frick lard asses
that's okay tho, they don't need to walk
At what point do you think western militaries admit they lost to McDonalds and drop the fitness requirement?
All the drone control stations are at ground level any way, do I really need to be able to walk up stairs to drop Hellfires on enemy legs? America has done what America does best and turned war into a sedentary activity.
You may not like it, but this is what peak tank crew looks like.
Women in tanks when?
Haha women with tank tops on top of a tank
Whats the best tank to get road head in?
Probably the Leclerc. I don't know that, but they are French.
put your dick against the ground as a tank rolls by

It was a trick question, they're all israelites.
With the exception of the ammunition on 120mm gun armed tanks there is nothing on a tank that a man can safely lift (less than 20kg) that a woman cannot (more than 15kg).
It's either way to heavy or not a big deal.
>sensha-do
>with a female commander, gunner, and driver
>and a male loader, to handle the 88mm ammo
>>and a male loader, to handle the commander, gunner, and driver
ftfy
No it doesn't, it takes at least three men and special equipment to fix a track. They are very heavy.
Won't tell exactly what system I was operating, been a while anyways but from what I remember a single track link weighted around 20kg. And these new Abrams especially are even heavier so I'd reckon their tracks have to be even sturdier.
And no it was never a one man job, you had the whole crew involved but it still requires a lot strength from everyone involved. And that special equipment is carried within the tank, so you can get your track back on or remove and replace a damaged section in the field on your own.
If you still have doubts here's some old footage from good old track days
A single track link weights about that much.
And we had to take apart the gun every now and again, with parts weighing between 40 and 90 kgs.
Though then again it wasn't an Abrams so who knows, I'd assume they'd have similar stuff.
You're blind; far left objectively model tier
These on the other hand are definitely A tier St Petersburg prostitutes

>Women in tanks when?
I gotta go dig up my old copy of this.
>giant tank
>hover tank
>flame tank
>vomit inducing tank
>half-track machine gun tank
>M1 abrams
100 years of the M1
Isnt the story literally the exact opposite of woman in tanks? Or woman in generals since there all dead
If I remember right women are used as currency in the first BattleTanx game, the second one, Global Assault, has an all female tank crew of rebels though.
Tank maintenance is very physically demanding, where sheer strength and a strong core are pretty much required for certain jobs, particularly anything involving the threads or gun.
And about 50 % of time operating, will be just maintenance.
So your saying female tank crews should be like roided up female Elemental users from BattleTech?
Inshallah, yes
simply hire female crossfit athletes who totally don't inject anavar at all
ACUs aren't very flattering
I'm not too up to date on tank tech, has no one developed a reliable anti-dart hard kill system yet?
also
>XM1147
RIP canister rounds, barely knew ye
Iron Fist has it thanks to their chonky interceptor
it doesnt 'stop' sabot rounds, it destabilizes them which greatly reduces penetration.
rafael (same company that built the merkava 4's wind coat APS) developed fairly lightweight (compared to passive armor) reactive armor that reduces sabot round penetration by 50%.
if you mix active, reactive and passive armor (for example iron fist + armor shield KE + regular composite armor) you can make fairly lightweight armored vehicles and APCs very resistant to anti armor sabot rounds.
Don’t cry for canister anon it had loads of fun in nam
in 2008 rafael said trophy is in advance development against kinetic rounds
and when i asked about it they refused to answer.
so it might be able.
also iron fist can.
>LWR or situational awareness cameras
Are they gonna use those new AR xray goggles?
IVAS for ground crews is planned. They've already done a ton of testing with existing external camera systems on the stryker/bradley (plus gunner/commander views) with the current infantry IVAS.
My biggest wonder is if they stitch the image from the cameras together into a panoramic thing you simply look around in the cabin to view, if they virtually 'project' a screen on each side of the vehicle, or if it's a feed just locked in position in your view. All of these would be possible and have their own merits.
If I were running the program I'd be doing the whole thing with Linux and training the tankers themselves to code so they'd be constantly adding new software capabilities in a continuous bottom up development process while developing better hardware based on that feedback loop. I'd do this in conjunction with better long term personnel retention programs so that the tankers of the future would be 1337 h3xx0rz, older than the average soldier, but the absolute masters of the craft, developing the Armoured battalion into the core C4ISR asset of the future army.
The Abrams isn't the right vehicle for it, but the sooner the program starts the sooner we get to the long term organizational skills and capabilities that will be needed in the 22nd century, with all of the most important cyber skills under armour at all times.
With this tech the whole point is you don't need ICT to have boots on the ground. With all that footage and data ICT can be extremely responsive as is. That being said there may be some IT discipline tankers would benefit from knowing, simply so they can better explain their needs to ICT.
You didn't need ICT to have boots on the ground in 1945, probably would have helped though.
And that's really my point, the point isn't why do tanks need cyber capability, the point is why does cyber capability need a tank.
And it's the same reason everything else on the tank needs a tank, to protect it from enemy fire while keeping it mobile and in proximity of advancing infantry. Right now we're putting ELINT and drone control in the rear, which keeps it safe-ish (giving the incredible ranges of precision fires and surveilance technology) but what if you could be detecting and disrupting enemy comms while protecting your own from the front lines?
Get in close enough and spoof a cellphone tower then you can read all their texts back to mum and relay that info back up to command. Not to mention drone and counter-drone which is going to be a big deal.
Of course the tech vegan would use linux. Queersville is 5 miles west and I suggest you High tail it over yonder
It's open source and there's a huge code library already available.
You can't be running iOS on a tank.

I like that they forced them to wear their cuckmasks, makes them seem even less human and more like disposable NPC robot shocktroopers.
America is going full Combine. I love it.
This guy looks like they pulled him straight off of Helghan
It's all so tiresome
>cuck muzzles
Just why ?
having flu or covid in the field would suck
Jesus that must be alien space magic to a frontline Russian tanker in their state of the art T-80
Too bad US only fights unarmed desert goat farmers
How is that different to a Russian tank crew
In the Russians case, the goat farmers are heavily armed
No you’re thinking of “goat frickers”
Somewhat related in Abrams news.

>two hatches in the hull
We going autoloader and shoving the 4th as the drone guy?
There's actually 3 hatches in the hull.
Abrams X going for fully unmanned turret and all crew in a protected space in the hull like T-14 Armata by the looks
>We know from the prototype in the 80s that this is a bad idea
>But we're going to keep trying to make a 3 man Abrams with an autoloader a thing!
>No it won't matter that it will be fricking complicated as hell and that field repairs will be a nightmare
>Trust us Goy!
CITV system is also meant to be new on the SEPv4 though it’s not visible in the leaked photos
This time the commander’s sights are supposed have their own laser rangefinder and target marker
That's been bog standard on the M1A2 series since 1992 though?
The laser pointer is new.
Current CITV doesn't have a proper rangefinder. Just a stadiametric reticle that the commander can scale up and down to estimate range
On the SEPv2 and SEPv3 they can use the CROWS laser rangefinder if CROWS is installed, but SEPv4 adds this additional one for CITV
New abrams is going to be electric drive
where is trophy?
Trophy just bolts on. It's not a standard fit to the SEPv4 or other Abrams' any more than the ARAT reactive armor skirts are
That's stupid
>LWR or situational awareness cameras mounted where smoke dischargers used to be
They are laser detectors
