M1 Garand should have been chambered in .270 Winchester

If you disagree, don't care.

This is literally the consensus. You’re not saying anything because of the common knowledge

I think you meant to say 35 Whelen.
Bullet diameter is more important than having good BC or SD when it comes to shooting at humans.

Regardless of our opinions on cartridges, it is a simple fact that intermediate cartridges are weaker, have less effective range, and a lot less armor piercing capability.

People didn't have level IV ceramic plates in WWII, but then again neither did those guerrilla insurgents in the Middle East. They did have the Soviet 7.62x39, the famous AK cartridge, which is more powerful than the 5.56 yet a less advanced rifle than the M4.

That is why the US military has very recently decided to pursue a new rifle and a new cartridge. The new cartridge is designed to be equivalent to the 7.62x39, to the beefy AK cartridge from the Middle East.

However, Middle East insurgents didn't have access to hundreds of millions of civilian small arms, let alone full blown AR battle rifles. Intermediate means between pistol and fully powered, such as the M1 Garand.

You have to carry the M4 or the XM7, that's not a choice, regardless of your opinion. You have to put on those carriers, all that bulky and expensive gear, and you aren't taking it home with you. It is standard issue. The guerrilla has a choice, the guerrilla can choose to fight with a more powerful rifle, but the guerrilla doesn't have Pentagon trillions either.

Not using the more common 5.56 round for the M1, how did you miss this /k/?

Because it is unnecessarily large and heavy for a SCHV round

Garand's original design used detachable box magazines, including 40 rounders.

      Lol, lmao even
      277 sig fury is basically a 7-08 Remington with the energy of a 270 Winchester so 2500ftlbs 3600 j
      Ak is basically a 1500ftlbs 2100j spitzer bullet 30-30...
The round that was giving the US troybles in the sandbox was 7,62x54r mosin/svd/pkm that has the same energy and ballistics as 30-06.

      You are a retard.

      If you disagree, don't care.

I had a nice WWII heirloom garand that was rebarelled into 270 because prior to 2011 military calibers were restricted in France, also had a 270 fn49.
I now yave a danish contract 308 Beretta garand its my favorite.

"The army chose an AP meme round because they plan on fighting muh home grown insurrection soon" is my favorite bit of schizobabble to come out of the XM7 decision.

lol grandpa these days 300 blackout is the optimal choice and means that clunker could be shrunk a lot and be appropriate for tactical cqc. no one cares about obsolete fuddrounds.

Look at the ballistics though. .270 competes with any of the modern rounds while having higher capacity.
