Seems like that could actually fix the issue, since suppressed ARs are usually overgrased as fuck. Anyone have any experience with that?

The other option is a lightweight bcg and lighter buffer spring from Sprinco.

Made up concern by garden gnomes to prevent the white man chopping handy-length barrels from $450 ARs.

I read Spinta Precision's dissy is drilled properly. They're usually $50 cheaper when on sale.

Best bet would be to chop a 20" rifle barrel with a proper port and SLOWLY open it up. You'll be right at .092-3 starting. I suspect .095-7 would be the absolute minimum for cycling good ammo. They're typically opened up to .110, which is way too much imo.

What is the advantage of a true dissipator over a faux dissipator?

The original Bushmaster Dissipator had carbine gas and a FSB at the rifle length position. That’s a “true” dissy. You’re after a Colt 605 clone.

they had poor reliability until some genius made the gas port larger, which supposedly solved the reliability problem.
I'd rather get a mock dissipator with midlength gas. then you know it works.

You could even do an intermediate length which is super uncommon and would probably require a custom barrel, but would give you something like a mid length gas system on a 14.5 in terms of reliability.
Pretty much anything is better than a real dissipator for actual use though.

At that point just rock a mid 14.5, thats what on my go to rifle and it runs good. Not sure what the port size is on the ba barrels but it doesn't overgass, ymmv

you realize all you need to do for a missy upper is to buy a 20 inch and chop the barrel to almost the front post. thats all.

This is exactly why dissapators were considered unreliable. Idiots making their own.
The factory ones worked since they had proper gasports. Vs all the idiots with cut down 20s who didnt change anything else.

I think it was originally supposed to give a rifle-like sight radius to a carbine-length barrel, but with optics, who gives a rat's ass about iron sights?

Dissy fags are the biggest fucking morons in the entire gun community I swear to god.
Jesus Christ it was always JUST a carbine gas AR with longer handguards and a single purpose FSB.
There’s no secret handling bonus applied for using this configuration.
It’s not called the “dissipator” for dissipating gas, recoil, damage or any other stupid “wait for the m1 ping” pseudo lore reason.
There was no specific purpose for bushmaster making it, if anything the theory is they had a surplus of full length handguards.
And no. It is not a 605 and was never a 605.
Because the 605 configuration is essentially non-functional and back in the day bushmaster knew this.

How does this cycle? And if it does why are the gasblocks on ordinary AR's so far back?
