Haven't played in like 3 years. Did they streamline the resource mining or is it still a second job?
You will spend hours hitting scrap with your hammer, you will wait half an hour for the resources to process, you will be driving it by truck for hundreds of miles and you will like it!
(Or get executed by a clanmen for touching a crate in their personal stockpile)

Logistics.
How does it work?
If it does, you won't notice it. But when it doesn't, you'll see it right away.
This game is the absolutely most cancerous, most autistic shit (just behind Dwarf Fortress) that I've ever played. My god, you are actually expected to drive around in a truck, STARING AT THE GROUND, not even able to look at any scenery, because the game is from a top down view, and you're completely helpless against any ambushes because you can't even see anything ahead of behind you, and you're supposed to do this for hours on end just so others can have "fun". The combat is like playing that old fucking game "Who dares Wins" on the C64, but 10 times slower and super fucking boring, and all the good shit is confiscated by autistic clan naggers who will get you banned from the main server if you dare to break any rules.
>Steal private logi >Ignore calls of Partisans nearby >Drive into death >Most likely lose vehicle crates >Complain in chat >Call everyone a nagger >Get banned
The community around this game is so fucking dogshit it's unreal.
It's like trying to play Planetside, but there's a group of hall monitors following you around bitching about literally everything you fucking do. >YOU TRIED TO HAVE FUN?? >WELL THAT'S GOING TO COST ME RESOURCES >SO MY CLAN OF homosexualS IS GOING TO MASS REPORT YOU SO YOU CAN'T PLAY
>game which takes certain things more serious punishes you when you act like a cunt >surprised pikachu face.gif
It's a bad game for people who try to freeload or who's only form of entertainment is to ruin the work of others. If you don't like it just pick another game, but calling the community or game cancerous and dogshit is just a red flag.
>Freeload
But, I'm not. I've gathered kinda a lot of Bmats, I've logi'd shit around.
It doesn't matter, you don't suddenly get access to Rmats, you just get told "Thanks for the free shit, keep working. :*~~)" and if you go near "Their" Rmats, they kill you.
You make steel and cut wood to make spades you put in crates and on ships/trains/trucks to distribute to your grunts. Then you tell them to dig their own grave and lay in it.
You don’t actually need to catch and train foxes to make foxholes.
Yeah basically. Some clans are very cool and I'll drop anything I'm doing to help them do artillery or operate tanks. Sometimes I'll even go out of hex to get supplies from public/my small stockpile just to bring into the hex since the clanmen are going out of their way to teach new players and foster a great environment. They are amazing players and the reason Foxhole is such a great game.
But most clanmen are fucking retards who stopped thinking of Foxhole as Foxhole 2-3 years ago and now see it as basically Factorio mixed with EVE, where your fun is the absolute highest priority and it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks as long as you have cool toys to play with. Precious logistical players are stuck in the backlines working on facilities, there is absolutely horrendous paranoia about alts, a lot of players even view "suboptimal play" (as if this is fucking League or something) as equivalent to alting.
I'm in a clan but it's really just an informal chatgroup with a small stockpile to pull out of as needed. I take out a tank and blast shit with new players then put a few dozen crates of shirts and 40mm in as payment. I avoid major clans like the plague.
This game is going to die and it's going to be the fault of its playerbase, not its developers. The developers have been all but demanding the playerbase figure out how to actually play their vision of Foxhole (all players on one team, massive fights, huge logistical struggles) and nobody actually wants to do it, they just want to sit around and guard their facilities. This is not a community that can be sustained for the next 5 years.
There goes a lot of work into creating facilities and stockpiles. They are created by investing the time of players. If you try to freeload of those then idk what you expect.
Just like in real life, you can't just take anyone's stuff. If the game itself imposes a worth (ie. time) to tanks then it will just be that way.
The special thing about this game is that everything you use has time and effort behind it by a player.
Since the devs are putting limited resources into the game there is obviously competition between clans, individual players, and possible enemy alt accounts.
>produce shit for the war effort >get mad at people for using your shit in the war effort
Whenever I want to try and get into the game I remember that naggers like this exist and get discouraged.
>It's like trying to play Planetside,
Planetside outfits are actually pretty fun with good cohesion and there are both laid back ones and autismotron LARP ones.
God help you if you get a German team leader
I don't share all these negative experiences at all. Started out in War 64, saw the glory of 69 and the terror of 79.
What I'm reading here and in many other places is a sort of entitlement. <You> want to drive a tank, <You> deserve a tank. You don't. You deserve what you scrap and that's it. And if you can't / don't want to scrap, join a regiment. If you can't find fun in the game besides playing with expensive lategame goodies, maybe this game just isn't for you and that's fine.
That said, the one thing that's both a necessary evil but also complete and utter cancer is comp camping. How the fuck are you as a solo even supposed to scrap a tank these days - I get that. Not to mention get the ammo, gas masks, bmats and worst of all a crew for that shit. I get all of that. But if you really want to play a solo tanker, just try Shard Charlie - I'm there as well, having a blast.
Unironically, try Charlie if you want a more chill experience with overall better people. Able is too focused on winning, so social interactions suffer at times.
Oh, also fuck any Regiment (clan) that doesn't even try to communicate and just forces other players to do what they want. My first experience in the game was spawning, seeing a Pte digging a trench and two Dog'z members start screaming in French at him. Full on insulting him and actually yelling. He calmly asks them in English what the fuss is about, they call him a whoreson. Then they shoot him and chase him around with a bayonett after respawning several times. Meanwhile, they scream in broken english in local chat to ban the player for "he steal us and insult us ok?!".
For new players this guy is full of shit. There's a lot of higher level meta strategy and plays that are tainted by clans being retarded and you only realize this once you've been in it for a while. I have seen several wars lost early because a clan or two refused to dump stockpiles, and innumerable cases of flanks not being built because the clan/person maintaining the base there giving up and nobody being willing to step up because of certain members of clans in the hex/front being literal hitlers when anyone tried to build. It's fucking cancer and any time you bring it up people deny it even exists.
The best way to play Foxhole is to get in and have fun then leave, maybe grind for a tank if you want, maybe wait for stockpile drops if you don't want to grind. You aren't being "entitled" if you want to play in a tank in a game about mechanized warfare. The type of clanman who refuses to release one MPF crate of tanks after he's just made 10 is the problem of Foxhole, not some dude who wants to try an Outlaw.
>Yeah. I start with 6 clips, 2 nades, bandages, binos, radio, bayo, secondary and rifle >Yeah I die and do that all over again >I'm just having fun ok?! >The Regiment next door OWES me their stockpile! >W-w-what do you mean I could just scrap myself, maybe ask the regi for a trade or even join and help out for a tank? Damn...regis really are the worst... >Clanmanbad
I'm in the loyalist discord of my faction and got 4k hours in foxhole (look, not proud of that). I actively work with regi leadership on a regular basis, both small scale diplo issues and largescale ops.
You describe two valid issues. First one being regis violently hoarding rmats and not using them, or at least releasing them. Second one being regis quitting and letting crucial bases decay. Both are fair criticism, but neither are common / impactful enough. It really sucks you often can't get rmats as a solo player, that's fucking frustrating and I get that.
Last war, we had 8 "civil wars" in a faction. This war, before we even started, we already had a civil war. Most players didn't notice either.
Yes, clanman bad, he camps comp mines, shoots newbies for building trenches, takes over a whole town and shoots anyone who doesn't speak chinese yada yada.
None of that makes you entitled to the work of those clans though. If you wanna try an outlaw, ask them. Trade them something.
Meanwhile, I want you to venmo me 10% of your monthly income. I am not the problem here, you are.
Also, just to add to this:
For every case of a regiment not sharing their stuff, there are 2-3 cases of regis flooding the game with shit. This war, the Wardens are shitting out bonewagons WITH AMMO for free. Literally just walk to the seaport and take one.
A couple of wars ago, a Regi decided to make all their vics public and even made training courses for new drivers.
In the big update wars, Regis organise Drill Sgts. for new players on home Island, showing them the basics of the game, how to set up BBs, how to scrap, logi etc. and they often send those new players right away to have fun (here an ifv, go to this front, we'll keep the ammo coming, gl).
>None of that makes you entitled to the work of those clans though
my friends an i steal from clanman so often the heist itself has become an enjoyable part of the game
if you claim a comp field and commit fratricide to prevent your teammates from using it you deserve every shell goblin and tank rascal that comes your way
>You deserve what you scrap >Go to resource node to get resources >Get team killed and called a griefer, reported and banned for 24 hours, don't you know this is <LGBT>'s own private resource node????
Very probably, war 49 here. God I remember taking three hexes and ending the war in a day during one of the 50s wars. A Warden armoured column that never stopped, troops, fuel and ammo trucked in. That was what the game was about. It was a better time.
What killed foxhole for me is that in this game supposedly about trench warfare (literally in the name) the meta way to do combat is to wildly dsync sprint around in the open stopping only to fire a shot then keep spazzing. I think the concept of the game is really cool but I ain’t touching it again unless there’s a serious infantry combat overhaul.
Get killed by some autistic nagger because you had the audacity to try to farm "their" resources, then uninstall the game and go play Red Orchestra 2 or Rising Storm 2.
if game was subscription based it would just be another eve and would be total dogshit. right now it's only a little shit.
I'm playing backline logi right now for a mid sized clan. (I'm that fucker with a container and a flatbed in the crane in front of the comp mine autoclicking) my day is pretty much, empty the mass production factory into our private stockpile, set more queues, box up resources I grinded last night into the private stockpiles for people to set queues with, then go scrap or run the facility or whatever. last night we used all the comps we hoarded over the last three days to concrete one of our member's bases two hexes up.
the gameplay right now is not very enjoyable but I keep telling myself the grind is needed for when we decide to do an actual op or build a large ship to have real fun. I'm probably going to burn out in a month, though I'm choosing to do logi, if I wanted to I could grab pretty much anything our of our clans stock and go piss it away on the front if I wanted to, as long as I'm not wasting rmats or something for nothing this early in the war, or at least until we get a broken comp facility.
don't play the game without a clan, it's not really worth it. half of the gameplay requires large scale player cooperation that you aren't going to get from public. (Artillery, efficient Logistics, trains, large defensive bases, facilities that enable all of the above)
>be me >log in >choose spawn >get kit of rifle, 2-3 magazines, maybe a bandage or gas mask/filters if needed >fight on front for 20 minutes till I get bored >get on PrepHole and see people bitching about how toxic this game is
Either you're taking it too seriously, in which case why not just join a clan or form one? Or, you're not taking it seriously, in which case why not just try to have fun with whatever gear is in the FOB and try to push the frontline back a few inches?
why would anyone design a game where half of the players or more are stuck doing mundane tasks that could be automated at the flick of a few lines of code, at least compared to how many lines of code you need for all of the logistics stuff. the entirety of the logistics could be abstracted to >log in >click the "logistics" button once >your faction now gets X amount of free shit for Y time
and that's it. just balance the numbers so that output is the same as achieved with the retardedly complex logistics they have now.
yeah i really never got the point of logi production. It was always boring, repetitive clicky bullshit. At least transport logi can be fun. I found it satisfying to deliver urgent ammo shipments to the front and have everybody thank me.
Also the combat is so fucking bad I can't vring myself to play again. I get that its supposed to be teambased but it's just boring.
>steal things you had no hand in making in plain sight >get shit on
I really don't know what you guys are thinking. At least be a competent thief and don't get caught.
Well, first you run up to a group of guys with chinese symbols in their names. Then you shout "CHINA NUMBAH WAN!" From there you give your new labor party orders that make the quartermaster's life easier. Also execute anyone making the QM's life harder with your trusty revolver.
It doesn’t
Haven't played in like 3 years. Did they streamline the resource mining or is it still a second job?
I believe it’s still a second job
I haven’t played in a while but it seems the devs have abandoned the game
>Major patch just came out
>abandoned
Bruh
You will spend hours hitting scrap with your hammer, you will wait half an hour for the resources to process, you will be driving it by truck for hundreds of miles and you will like it!
(Or get executed by a clanmen for touching a crate in their personal stockpile)
If it does, you won't notice it. But when it doesn't, you'll see it right away.
Didn't they just add naval warfare?
They added automining but you need a third job to build and maintain the facilities to do it.
Is there a /k/ clan? I haven't played since they added trains but I'd like to fuck about with the big boats. Warden preferred.
This game is the absolutely most cancerous, most autistic shit (just behind Dwarf Fortress) that I've ever played. Obviously it's meant to simulate the KGB exploiting racial tensions in America during the Cold War

Anon, we're all fighting for the same faction. It's not "theirs" its "ours".
how much have you contributed to our stockpile?
Right now? 0.
If I like the game? Potentially infinite.
Maybe you should do more to ensure people like the game rather than being a clanny?

That was the case like 1-2 years ago. They revamped the aiming system that makes what you're describing basically impossible.
