No, obviously not, you can't shoot within X distance of someone's property and they'll definitely mind if you shoot without a suppressor, but public land is 100% fair game

You can only shoot at registered ranges here and they'll absolutely assrape you.

Shooting on public land is WAY more complicated than that.
Maybe out west in the middle of a desert or certain designated park areas but you can't just go decide to shoot most places on public land.
For example you public land designated generally as either state parks, National parks or National forests. They are all governed differently. Then you have hunting areas. You can probably hunt deer in a state park, depending on the park but then because of that weapons are limited to prevent people hunting out of season. National forests are under the direction of the Department of Agriculture and have different rules than the National Parks. Many of those places even with a conceal carry permit, you are only allowed to carry a .22lr pistol for defense because of hunting regulations.

If you want to shoot on public lands, you'd best check with the local laws and I would even call the ranger station and ask. Get someones name. That way if someone stops you can say, "I called ahead and talked to _____".

There are large public land areas less populated regions of the country where you can just go shoot at whatever but that is not a blanket statement for the whole country.

A Euro is roughly equivalent to a dollar.

That's a lot of money. A range in the U.S., and I'm talking a nice air conditioned indoor range, will charge you $20 an hour.

I guess the difference in the states is there are more ranges including state run ranges that charge you an annual pass for like $25 that lets you shoot as much as you want for a year. So if some indoor private range was charging $60, nobody would go there.

Also, you can shoot on any private property that is outside of city limits. It's generally illegal to discharge a firearm inside a town but as soon as you step outside of the city limits, you can shoot all you wish if you're on private property.

  19. 1 year ago
    Anonymous

You know what you should do OP?
Open another range in your town/city and charge less.
If people are willing to pay $60/hour to go shoot, that indicates there's either not enough room on that range to accommodate everyone that wants to go shooting or a monopoly on shooting ranges permitting them to overcharge for access.

Local indoor range is 60€/h for walk-ins; 50€/month if you pay for membership (four months minimum) with no time limits, but then you have to give way if somebody pays (200+€) to reserve the whole range for themselves.

$20 for one hour, $10 more for every hour after. Sucks ass but its the only range near me that isn’t over 30 miles away. But its not a bad place to shoot pistols and has nice 75 foot lanes, so I can’t complain too much. A range closer to me got the banhammer in 2021 because the manager was doing straw purchases, and that building is totally cleared out now. Bastards even took this

$10 per hour, I bring everything I need or buy it at the range. Range prices have been pretty competitive with other stores and online. A box of 250 rounds 9mm 115 gr FMJ some sort of off brand was running about $85 when the best online price I could find last Summer was about $100-110. Went through five boxes without a single misfeed or misfire, seemed consistent down to every shot.

They have a couple quirky rules, but nothing I can't live with. They're designed for safety and to keep gangbangers dressed like normal humans, so worth it. I MUST buy one cardboard backing for each range trip for $3 ... so a 2 hour range session costs $23. If I pony out $300 for a year membership, all range time is free so long as a station is available (still have a dress code & have to buy a cardboard backing). For me, I could maybe save $50 if I did that.

They're cool about brass ownership. If it jumps in front of the firing line it's lost, everything behind the firing line is fair game. Sometimes I take ten minutes and sweep the stations around me when I'm done as a courtesy and dump everything into a collection bucket they use, and everyone who wants can grab what they want. I don't even reload, but I've got a 5 gallon bucket filled with .357/.38 waiting for me to buy into a reloading setup.

~500 CAD for the year, but it's got multiple ranges, from pistol pits to trap stands to rifle ranges out to 300yds. Considering how close it is, it's a pretty good deal.

If I do go to a privately owned indoor or outdoor range, it depends. An indoor pistol caliber only range 20yds will charge $15/hr, another indoor range 25yd that has backstop for rifle caliber and pistol caliber will also charge $15/hr but this one is pretty busy last time I went almost waited an hour to get a lane, another indoor range that has 25, 50 and 100yd lanes and allows practically any caliber is $30/hr. An outdoor range I go to has ranges up to 100yds for non members and out to 300yds for members, for non members it's $20-25/hr, I forget as it's been awhile since I've gone.
Otherwise I go to public federal lands, blm, as it's permitted to shoot on it and it's free just takes awhile to drive out to it an hour or two.

Local indoor range I go to is 20$ a trip for unlimited time..

But I go there because it’s literally around the corner from my house… so I spring for the 39$ membership and got some coupons for free targets and 10% off ammo as well as a few free rentals… also they’ll sell an optic and a gun at “employee pricing” to me…. With the membership theirs no range charges.. since I go about twice a week it’s a pretty good deal..

Worth mentioning I’m in northern AZ Prescott.. and I could just drive out to state land and shoot for free… I pay for the convenience of a range 4 minutes away…. Also during fire season they prohibit shooting on public land since everything wants to burn…

Also worth mentioning if you feel like driving about 50 minutes away and paying 150-270$ there’s a range that rents full auto machine guns.. it’s expensive as hell but I want to check it out next time my brothers in town..

I go out to the woods and can easily shoot 1000m for free. Of course I can't hit the target lol.

I actually get paid to shoot because I always bring my guns when I do conservation work on my grandpa's wetlands conservation lot

Actually that's funny because the conservation money comes from the blue state I live in, so the government is indirectly paying me to plink when I get bored of killing invasive brush
