LMAO 10MM

Cimarron will build you a 10MM SAA with an 8" octagonal barrel.
It's not crazy expensive either?

One the one hand, a ported SAA really speaks to my space-western scifi autism. On the other, it doesn't look like it is optics ready, and also 10 millimemer. Like I get the best millimeter meme, but why not do something actually cool like .454.

      Choose your argument:
      >it needs a rim to extract/eject
No. Look at how a SAA works, the rim plays no part in this.
      >it needs a rim to headspace
No. It headspaces off the mouth of the case, same as every other 10mm firearm does.
      >it needs a rim for some other reason

      Maybe stop and think.
Why would it need a rim?
It headspaces on the mouth and the cylinder has no extractor.

10mm headspaces off from case mouth and ejection is done with ejection rod so no need for rim.

    What's the point tho?
44 mag and 10 mil are on the same ballpark cpr wise ( at least where I live) and .44 is way more easy to source/ reload...
What are you gaining here? Ammo compatibility? Being able to shoot.40 for plinking?
Flexing your e-penis with another garbage hodgepodge passing as americana?

      >What's the point tho?
      *Shrugs* I dunno.
Apparently they either thought there was a market for it, or it was close enough to one of the other 40 oddball historical cartridges they chamber for that they were like "yeah, we can make this work pretty easily?" so it was less a question of why but rather why not.

The closest I could think of would be either 41 long colt or 38-40win and maybe 41 mag...

I genuinely doubt it will take off.

Genuine question: in that case can you shoot .40 in this like we do in semis?

          >can you shoot .40 in this like we do in semis?
Probably not, unless you grease the outside of the cartridge to keep them towards the rear or cut the cylinder for some kind of feeler retention clip like the Medusa multi-cal revolvers or something.
In a semi the extractor positions the cartridge for the split second it takes the firing pin to detonate the primer, but since these presumably don't have retention methods the 40 cartridge will have a few mms of play in the cylinder.
You might be able to get a few pops if you point the thing up in the air while cocking it so the rounds fall to the recoil face.

          >Genuine question: in that case can you shoot .40 in this like we do in semis?
Not really. That only works because the extractor holds the .40 case at the back of the chamber -- there's no extractor in a SAA to do that, so the cartridge will go deep in the chamber where the firing pin won't reach it.

I suppose you could make it work with moon clips, but then you'd have to remove the cylinder to reload.

.38-40, like .40 s&w, could be shot out of this with a conversion cylinder. It's the same with .357/9mm revolvers.

.41 Long Colt and .41 Magnum use different bullet diameters, so neither would work in the same way.

      Anonymous

It's cool, .40 s&w (which is significantly cheaper and more powerful than .38 special) can be shot out of it with a conversion cylinder, 10mm magnum with another conversion cylinder, and 10mm recoil/muzzle blast is significantly lighter than that of .44 magnum while still being a very competent handgun hunting cartridge.

A better question is "why not an autoloader?", but anyone looking for a single action revolver isn't exactly for the latest and greatest.

I mean cimarron offers revolvers in three different 44 cartridges, 31, 32, 36, 38, etc.
If they just need to bore a cylinder a little undersized and source a .40 cal tube it's not an insane proposal for them.
If you as a consooomer already have a G20 and ammo this might be a nice classy fun thing that isn't made out of plastic to complement that.

I built a G40 clone and was hyped to finally experience 10meme. It was a disappointment. It shoots well and I'm sure it's capable, but all the magnum calibers outclass it from a big boom standpoint. Just buy a 44 mag if you want a big kicking revolver.

      This
The benifit of 10MeMe is that you can slap 15 of them in a flush fit mag.

What if you already have a stock pile of 10mm? Which is also cheaper than .357 or .44 (but not .38 special though).

          Anonymous

Great, I mean I have a .338 win mag for this exact reason, but it's not really practical at all if you have nothing to start with.

          Anonymous

          Eh.
People saying "fun gun" but 10mm is still on the pricier side for a ton of range use, and doenst give you the blast of a magnum.
Round for round it isn't as effective for hunting/animal defence
And even price of good defensive/woods 10mm is about the same as good .357 mag (I haven't priced .44 in a while)
If you have 10mm because you already have a semiauto 10mm, then you already have about the best thing in 10mm you can get.
If you have no SA revolver, and really want an SA revolver, the .22s are way cheaper gun and ammo wise and for range stuff, or .357 mag/44 mag is way more effective for anything inportant, and more fun, so it's just kinda like why?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't they producers of mechanically accurate western guns using modern materials, same as Pietta and Uberti? I'd say they're far from shit.
Also nothing wrong with some tradition. I like shooting my AR, and really most rifles, but I can't really get used to the recoil patterns of an auto handgun. Most I can't use too well, especially right after shooting my AR or other rifles as I've found (AKA they'd be useless to me as a backup weapon if my gun suddenly fucks up and I need to shoot a moron right now).
This has led me to wonder if I could engineer a revolver that fires 5.56 for ammo compatibility with my rifle like revolvers and repeaters often do. Maybe rig up some sort of gas seal mechanism to get as much power out of it as possible. If not 5.56 due to needing a longer barrel for good performance, I at least want to try it in 7.62x39 or something since it doesn't need as long of a barrel. Hell, I have a shitload of nugget food laying around and 7.62x54mmR is rimmed, I could even try that if I really hate my own wrists. But fuck my wrists, I need to shoot bottlenecked battle rifle rounds at morons who try to mug me, the PrepHoleube demands it if nothing else.
