Baltics will grow stronger. The lithuanian march to 500 JLTVs continues apace.

The Baltics need to start joint procurement and military integration. They are too small on their own and they a adopting redundant capabilities.

They've been doing a lot of that lately.

How similar are the three languages? For example: could an Estonian understand a Lithuanian even if the Estonian has no experience with the Lithuanian language?

no but latvians and lithuanians can understand each other somewhat apparently.

        >could an Estonian understand a Lithuanian
Not in a billion years. Lithuanian is much more closely related to English than it is to Estonian. Estonian is a Finno-Ugric language, not Indo-European. Estonian is very similar to Finnish, though.

no but latvians and lithuanians can understand each other somewhat apparently.

Not really. If I stare at a sentence in Lithuanian for long enough I can sorta figure out what some of the words might mean, but most of the time it's not accurate. They have similar roots but mean different things. This means Lithuanian looks and sounds really stupid to Latvians and vice versa.

Lithuanian is closest living language to Sanskrit.

All Europeans came from ancient poos

I think it's rather that both branched off a common more ancient group in the middle east.

Well, Lithuanian language itself negates this theory, since it's remarkably similar to both Latin and Sanskrit, in so far that during medieval and renaissance times it was claimed that Lithuanians are descendants if Roman noble house Palemonids.

So, ancient poos and Europeans shared a link for far longer than your theory would suggest.

Proto Indo European homeland is North East of the Black Sea, not the Middle East.

          Basically Finnish and Estonian
Estonian is a lot more Baltic and German-influenced while Finnish has Swedish and Russian influence so the vocabulary is quite different

Zirgu galva, when I was a kid I thought that was a really bad insult for Latvians.
other than that yeah, Latvian sounds like some old Lithuanian accent to a point where you can kind of understand only a single word in sentence.

At least now they're being built up. 10 years too late if you ask me, but back then any political will was used up to build the professional troops back up (not to mention still trying to pretend ziggers are people and taking their "feelings" into account)

Estonian isn't even Indo-European. Lithuanian and Latvian are kind of like Swedish and German, not mutually intelligible, but endlessly hilarious due to funny similarities.

Which are you referring to? The guns or JLTVs? The guns are news to me, a non-baltoid. The JLTVs are continuing from https://desuarchive.org/k/thread/60551915.

Are you stupid? The G36 is unusable as a service rifle. As soon as the rifle heats up you will have levels of zero shift that make the rifle useless.

If you lose zero after 4 magazines and cant hit anything past 100 yards then the rifle is useless. The German MOD made the same conclusion and now they're getting rid of them.

Lmfao the 36 is still in production???

It's a fine service rifle if you don't use it as a machine gun, this has literally been settled in court

TBF it's not that bad, I quite liked it. Had shitloads of malfunctions when firing blanks and everyone ranted how shit the rifle was, but that was probably shit ammo or shit blank adapters, as no-one from my company had a single malfunction with real ammo in the range. Reasonably accurate for what it is too.

Same with AK-4. Shooting blanks, the gun kept jamming due to low blowback pressure. The attachable compensator might've been the issue as well, not sure. But shooting live rounds it never jammed on me.

History and language discussions are cool and all. But let's stick to the topic?

What's so bad about the g36s that Liths will receive? Won't they be modernized?

      >What's so bad about the g36s that Liths will receive?

      Nothing.

      The story:
      >Germany issues 1st gen G36 with integrated optics, which are absolute garbage and lose zero easily
      >Used by not-so-well trained German troops when the military spending was at its absolute worst
      >Middle east
      >Instantly mag-dump at any sign of enemy a mile+ away
      >Optics lose zero
      >Barrel warms up and loses long range accuracy after several magdumps like any other assault rifle
      >morons blame "plastic gun" for warping in the sun
      >"Nu-uh, I was totally going to hit that, its the fricking gun!"
      >Actually proven to be false through repeated test trials and actual court cases
      >Later G36 gets proper rails and non-suck optics can be added

I'm thinking of getting an SL-8 next time I see one and getting the magwell/stock conversion kits on, would it be worth it?
