Anon, are you familiar with why coal mines sometimes blew up? You'd get pockets of "coal gas", natural gas which would detonate when exposed to a flame, such as a candle. This would kill anyone in the vicinity and usually collapse the tunnel, it could also collapse adjacent tunnels.
Are you also familiar with medieval sieges? Where they would tunnel under a wall, and then detonate explosives or burn down the tunnel, causing it to collapse, the subsidence would then collapse the wall above.

Now take both of these and apply them to a modern city. Sewers contain something called "sewer gas", which can and will blow up on contact with flames, it has in fact been set off by hot asphalt on occasion. Set this off and you manage to effectively blow up the sewers, which causes subsidence and collapses the buildings beneath that stretch of sewers.

We also have things called gas lines, these are underground, these can and will blow up if exposed to extreme temperatures. These are however usually relatively close to the surface. However if you collapse the sewers and buildings subside then these will break and become exposed, if they subsequently ignite (likely) then you have collapsed buildings and you also set the city on fire.

We have the water mains and underground resevoirs and paved over streams+rivers. When you expose water to extreme heat it evaporates and forms a gas, this expands and takes up more space than the liquid. You have created a steam explosion. This will ollapse the resevoir, causing subsidence or a minor earthquake as well as losing you the resevoir. If a stream/river then they usually arent that far down and there are usually coverings, but these will be blown off and hurt anything which happens to be over them, as well as damage to anything above the line of it depending on the pressure.

And finally we have underground rail transport....which has attending underground electric networks. If your tunnels somehow connect to these....

Without designing anything custom, the ideal gun is an integrally suppressed .300BLK bullpup with a bayonet somehow attached. Not anything I'd pick normally but
    > frick firing unsuppressed underground. I have done it exactly once, never again.
    >frick going down to a pistol caliber when facing demons and shit. .300 probably won't be enough but it's more likely to work than 9mm. .300 is half decent sub and super sonic
    >Frick losing barrel length against said demons
    >Frick trying to manoeuvre in tight tunnel with a full length rifle
    >Bayonet because close quarters and again demons.

      ShAK-12

        Anonymous

I considered it. It wouldn't be a bad option as a speciality weapon for when you need the extra oomph but the issue is the ammo weight and bulk. It's 35% longer and 25% wider than 7.62x51.
Pic related is a 10 round mag of 12.7x55. Its also not the shortest rifle when suppressed.

          Anonymous

If they do 20 drums for the ShAK-12, I would have that be a GMPG equivalent to put down big beasties, and probably the OTs-14-4A-02 or something using the 9x39mm cartridge.

Revolver. Because you fighting demons and shit you'll likely need special boolits made out of silver or some other shit as their counter. A revolver avoids any feeding issues you'd have from the specially made ammo.
For melee I think you'd just have to have a sword in one hand and the wheelgat in the other. If I had to pick a caliber, I'd be heretical and say 9mm. Moon clips are poorgay speed loaders and the extra power and penetration of .357 mag probably wouldn't be necessary. Especially since you're probably needing to use special bullets.

Nah I'd want to be able to run suppressed and have the bayonet mounted at the same time and without having to use one of those crappy handguard mounts. Integral is the easiest way to do that, and you save some OAL.
Because again, frick firing unsuppressed underground ever again.

Ok but the problem with doing that underneath one of your cities is that:
      1) You dont know how much you'll need
      2) You dont know how much connects to stuff that you use
      3) You do know how much stuff you use potentially could get fricked
      4) You do know that if a certain series of events occur, you set the entire city on fire.

Youve got to really know where you are doing that and what the risks are, before you dare do it.

A trench shotgun is your best bet.

You've got a bayonet to keep the gribblies at arm's length (which could be engraved with prayers and silver plated for good measure), and since it's a pump action, you can load exotic ammo without worrying about jams. I'd recommend alternating "dragon's breath" incendiary shell and 00 shells loaded with a mix of iron and silver shot.

Another issue is some of these places are probably designed as reinforced bunkers with like 45 ton blast doors after you get through the initial entry. Think I read one place had a 2 mile drive unnaground then a hidden door just to get to an elevator.
