Let's be honest...

If you haven't practiced shooting with adrenaline pumping in your body, loud noises around you and against moving targets then all your shooting practice is almost useless.
And I won't even mention how important it is to have the "skill" to run long enough without getting tired, especially with weight on you.
Pay attention to your priorities, anons.

You can't even beat Space Invaders.
      Go make your exercises, fatso.
Trust me, you will improve your life and combat capabilities.

      >shooting practice is almost useless
How in the frick is refining your trigger pull, getting used to recoil so you don't blink of flinch, learning how your gun generally behaves, practicing reloads, and more in a calm situation where you can analyze how you're fricking up "almost useless"?

I'd wager basic fitness is probably the most skipped/ignored thing in the gun community. So many fatasses. If you want long distance without destroying your knees anywhere near as quickly MARCH. As you train pick up the speed until your walking speed is comparable to a slow jog. Eventually that'll just be your normal walking speed and running will be easier too. Once you've got this down you can add jogging everywhere.
When training with a weighted pack don't over pack it while marching and/or running. Try to make sure it's going to weigh about as much as what you'd really carry in it during any degree of SHTF you'd actually need to gtfo. You probably don't need to be carrying a modern infantryman's full load. Also, don't use your actual go bag for it.

This but seriously. VR is an amazing tool. You can fire unlimited amounts of ammo at moving targets that shoot back with fairly realistic representations of real firearms. Depending on the game the enemies may even be actual people shooting back at you (Tabor, Pavlov, Contractors, etc). Personally I'm a fan of the giant talking hot dogs with guns.

Airsoft lacks two of the mentioned things.

If you're playing and not pumped the group you play with sucks and you probably need to find a more skilled bunch of people. Also, airshit grenades like the Thunder B can be loud as frick. Knew a guy who got instant long term (probably permanent) tinnitus from one going off next to him. Expensive to get into, especially if you want realistic manual of arms, but generally cheap to keep playing once you're in. Find a good group that takes it fairly seriously and has multiple combat veterans in it. Ask them for tips regularly and if they offer training do it.

        >I'd wager basic fitness is probably the most skipped/ignored thing in the gun community
So much this. And basic fitness is just one of many factors that is lacking. It doesn't matter what fancy guns you own, if you can't do physical labor, feed yourself, repair things, etc, you are useless in any sort of SHTF fantasy. But as important as things like fitness, cooking, first aid, etc, are these are off-topic on the weapons board, so at the same time I see why they aren't discussed here. But yeah, it's fricking silly that people are talking about min-maxing guns for combat larp fantasies when they can't do a single pull-up, would starve if not for tendies, and have to ask for advice on how to use a screwdriver.

          >can't do a single pull-up
To be fair pull-ups are fricking hard. I max out most of the machines I use at the gym but pull-ups and I don't get along.

For exercises involving your firearm, cleared and flagged or full of nothing but double checked snap caps and in the privacy of your own home of course. Here's a few examples, you should time yourself with these rather than count. It's about keeping track of how quickly you tire. Try to go until failure but also set a goal to hit where you stop even without hitting failure.
          >Raise your rifle from chest to over your head with arms straight then down again until you fail.
          >Raise from low ready to aimed then back down to low ready. Try to aim at the equivalent of a man sized target no less than 25 yards out.
          >Hold your rifle level with your arms straight at 90 degrees from your body as long as you can. No reps, just holding it up. Even with a simple sheet of paper this can be surprisingly hard.
          >Start with your pistol holstered. Draw your pistol, aim, then holster again. Like with the rifle the target should be no less than 25 yards equivalent. Focus on drawing and aiming as quickly as you can get on target then holster smoothly paying attention while you do. Also focus on your finger not touching until you're on target. You do this you'll be doing it a lot if you go to failure.
Anything that works one side more should be done on the opposite side every other time. You're building stamina, refining technique through heavy repetition, and getting used to the weight of your weapon.

If you want to add the weight of a loaded mag then take a good mag and weigh it empty and loaded. From there find a dead mag that no longer works for whatever reason, remove the spring and follower, then fill the it with something like wax+birdshot or fishing weights until it matches the full mag weight fairly closely. Whatever your fill is make sure the mag is never full enough to risk damaging the BCG. Also be sure to mark it INERT.

Only if you play like a homosexual with the FPS limit, real ones say that shit to go frick itself and use the regular AEG with 500fps average, good way that also cheating frickers call their hits consistently lmao.
Also vidya like Time Crisis can REALLY give you an upper edge with things like reaction time, wished there was a VR Time Crisis tbh.

As with many posters on this site, you discovered a basic mantra that's common knowledge
    >Fitness is just as important as a gun if you want to survive
thought you were a genius for it and then went completely overboard with it and took it to absurd levels

Euros, Indians, Latin Americans, with a decent amount of DurkaDurkas. There's also a fair share of actual Americans. Exactly the same crowd that makes PrepHole an unusable shithole. And anyone who went to PrepHole could've seen exactly what /k/ was going to devolve into as soon as the "SMO" turned into a quagmired shitshow, because what you're seeing here today is what PrepHole has been enduring since Euromaidan

You're not wrong if you're referring to someone training for long-term combat, but some people do enjoy target practice or other shooting activities during their leisure time without combat-readiness as the focus. If you're talking in general, then this post is as tone deaf as the anti-gun advocates who think guns solely exist for every owner to kill people with their baby-seeking, fully-auto machine gun elephant bullets.
