Anyone have any recommendations for left-handed semi-auto rifles? I’ve been looking to get one and saw that Stag Arms has left handed AR-15 style weapons, anyone know if they’re any good?. Now I know I know, I can just get a regular one and just shoot lefty with it, but I want a purely left-handed semi-auto just because.
Jus bcuz u gae?
stag is the defacto lefty ar. you might want to be more picky about the barrel option with stag (like oh i want it to be 1:7 not 1:9)instead of buying the first stag you see but its doesnt really matter. all of stag is good enough
My first AR was a Stag, though a standard righty model. They're fine, I don't know if things have changed but they were solid mid-tier when I bought mine. Around the same as Aero, really.
Seems like you're losing the parts compatibility with normal ARs for no benefit. I'm left handed and just put ambi parts on my AR without any issues. The only one I've had issues with was an olympic arms with no brass deflector.
But I want one that’s strictly made for lefties idc about all the fancy ambi shit. I’m aware of how much more expensive they usually are
But whats even the point of getting an AR if you're giving up the single largest advantage they have of ubiquitous and readily available parts? You're getting all the problems of owning a rare esoteric rifle without even having something interesting to show for it.
Because I want one. Simple as.
> hey /k/ I want this thing wdyt
> it's shit
> but I want one!!??
>but I want one!!??
The only reason you should ever need for buying a gun.
But there's so many cooler guns than ARs once you've already decided to forego the parts available.
>getting an AR if you're giving up the single largest advantage they have of ubiquitous and readily available parts?
the only noncompatible lefthand part on the stag is the bolt and bcg. everything else is normal
>the only incompatible part is the only part that actually experiences significant breakages and needs to be replaced
moron, the manufacturer literally sells replacement parts for them
Which means nothing if the manufacturer goes breasts up. The advantage of ARs is a billion different people make parts for them. If you don't have that, might as well get something esoteric since you're dependant on one manufacturer either way.
Then fricking get one. Why did you even ask here if you're not gonna listen?
>Why did you even ask here
I was stating facts not asking a question. Where in my post did I ask a question? How am I supposed to take anything you say remotely serious if you reply with complete nonsense.
>Where in my post did I ask a question?
Literally 2/3 sentences in your post are questions.
im a lefty and i just grew up shooting guns right handed.
its literally a skill. just learn to shoot right handed.
Are you cross-eye dominant?
"right handed" AR15s are literally designed for left handed people if you just have a modern ambi charging handle. Whenever I've asked my right handed friends or other shooters to lock the charging handle back on a normal AR it takes them 5 to 10 seconds. For me it takes well under a second. Hand on grip with index on bolt lock button and just pull it back. Swapping the mag? Left handed people just take their right hand and press the button while holding the mag to easily swap it out.
Almost the same thing with AKs. Left handed people just rack it with their right hand like a normal fricking human being would. Right handed people shove their arm under the gun and awkwardly charge it. This isn't even a shit post. AR15s are basically designed for left handed people and whenever I've shown right handed people this in person they can never explain why I'm wrong
Forgot to mention one thing. Left handed people also can just casually click bolt release with their left index finger. Right handed people slap it like a cave man.
True the only disadvantage a left handed person has is they cant' mag release with their index finger while grabbing the mag with their support hand. They have to reach up and grab the mag, then hit the mag release while pulling the magazine out. It's the equivalent of not having a drop free mag but since I don't want my mags hitting the ground anyway, I actually prefer this. Yes, I'm aware of the ambi-mag release lever you can get.
Also, lefties can push the forward assist with their thumb, just as a verification it's in battery or if they feel like pushing something. It's awesome. No brains that don't have a forward assist and righties will never experience the joy. Actually now that I think about it, the only way I would ever get a left handed upper is if I were right handed.
As a left handed person, I really don't see the point of this. All you need is a 60 degree throw ambi-safety and an ambi-charging handle. That's it.
bear creek left side charging upper plus ambi controls retrofit on a normal lower is the cheapest setup you'll get. it'll be decent enough.
Make sure you NEED a lefty BEFORE you buy. You may be cross-dominant.
Make a circle with your finger, arms length. Find a spot on the wall to focus on. Slowly bring the circle closer to your face. Whatever eye you go to will dictate which eye is dominant, and which side you should be shooting.
Cross-dominance is extremely common in left handed people.
I'm left handed, left eye dominant and I still wouldn't want a left handed AR. There are no good reasons to get one and several reasons not to. That is of course assuming you didn't get some gay ass model without a shell deflector and forward assist and that your gas system isn't horribly out of whack.
I have a 2TL, from ~2007, and it is roughly on par with a Colt 6920 of the same time. I would not recommend getting one because ARs are functionally ambi other than the mag release (the one on the stag is a drop in ambi release so just buy one), and getting a leftie one limits how you can upgrade it (no better bolts etc). I've fired thousands and thousands of rounds through regular right handed ARs and there has never been any issue, no gas in the face or brass
The only reason to buy a lefty AR is if you shoot suppressed and want to mitigate gas coming out of the ejection port into your face
That's only ever been an issue on direct blow back weapons. Indeed being left handed sucks when shooting something like a kel-tec sub2000 with it's long barrel and direct blowback. However, on an AR, properly tuned it's not an issue. In fact I would argue gas coming out around the charging handle is worse.
