Leak: Bundeswehr getting TILO-6MA clip-on, in-line thermal optic

If you wanna impress your friends, here's something you heard through the grapevine.

Bundeswehr will start procuring the TILO-6MA thermal imaging device for all of its combat troops. It's an ultra-compact, lightweight deivce which can either be clipped onto the helmet as a monocular, or directly clipped onto the rifle optic (the latter will be the preferred method). The official announcement will be made in 3-4 months.

Here you can see it mounted on the helmet. Soldiers will be free to choose whatever fits their combat situation best.

Bundeswehr is currently procuring 25.000 Theon MIKRON night vision goggles until end of 2024. These are helmet-mounted binoculars, mostly intended for drivers (can also be worn without a helmet with a kit). But in tests with the new service rifle (HK 416 A8), it became obvious that helmet mounted thermal binoculars often times aren't that great for the fighting forces, so they will be supplemented with this.

This will be the first time that all german combat troops will be outfitted with thermal imaging as a default.

you can casually pick off infantry, and if you just move every few shots they have a very hard time returning fire even with conventional tubes

So basically Germany in 2023 is only just starting to issue NVGs as standard and is buying 25k thermal clip ons to supliment.

Thats been standard for most militaries since 2005.

Look at this US operator testing an optic 》thermal setup for the US armed forces and Leonardo. They probably all had absolutely no idea what they were doing because nobody ever told them. If only they had someone as super smart as you

Gee they are all so goddamn stupid. Man. Not even technology can help them. I mean, there is NO WAY that there exists some kind of magic device that converts far-IR light into visible light, which then can pass through glass. If only those armies had something like this. But I guess it's just impossible to create such a device, it's simple physics, IR can't go through glass.

It doesn’t matter what order you put them in if one is opaque to the other. Just like your mom used vodka and krokodil and it didnt mattered in what order.
