From polling Ireland is supposed to have some of the world's highest support for Ukraine, which seems counter to their angsty anti-Western anti-colonial anti-NATO default position. I don't imagine they have anything to help Ukraine woth anyway so doesn't actually matter.

That's the curse of people who think of politics in terms of honor and empathy, rather than realpolitik.
Sure, it would make sense for them to support anyone who is against the British, but they probably view Russians trying to claim Ukrainians are just "Russians a bit to south-west" as a similar thing to British ruling over Ireland.

The extreme Nationalist dissidents are Pro-Russia but honestly we're more Pro-Ukraine than probably any Non-NATO country - we took in a ridiculous amount of refugees, I even dated one and my friends took in a family into their house. In Belfast you may see slightly more Pro-Ukraine/NATO stuff in British areas but you'll only see Pro-Russia stuff in only the worst 'Up the Ra' shitholes and often plenty of times with Pro-Ukraine stuff beside it. It's funny because the more traditionally right wing places support Ukraine and the more leftist ones support Russia, which frazzles the /misc/ and leddit narratives.

There's a lot of Israel hate though, which is ironic considering the IRA helped create Israel (after supporting Hitler like a year before kek).

The government flails and squirms between doing nothing about it and randomly banning the return of ethnic Russian that have lived and worked in Georgia for 5+ years and can't risk returning to Russia after what they've publicly said about Putin.

This. No idea why, but leftists in my area support Russia more than Ukraine.

              “Ukrainians are Nazis!”

              With a israelite president?

              “Russia was threatened by NATO!”

Ukraine isn’t in NATO; Ukrainian troops aren’t in Russia.

              “Ukrainians are racists!”

And Russia killing a million people is better?

Clueless leftists. It’s easy to understand why the conservatives (not the far right) are winning: they know who America’s opponents actually are.

Why is the UK a dishonourable mention on that when nearly every stat there is pretty good.
Like, just because some people use outhouses isn't the government's problem.

The point is to mog the Abrams wunderwaffe (historically teamkilled by training ammo) by having the balls to deploy it against something roughly approximating a peer. The fact that America is unwilling to donate Abrams to "risk" fighting turret tossing T90 shitboxes really does make you think about its alleged status as king of tanks.

I assume Leopard 2 is coming from a broad coalition at the next military aid summit. Poland is confirmed, Finland I think too, but probably Germany will be guilted into providing at least parts and support, and maybe some tanks and training also from Spain, Canada, Denmark, Netherlands. They're going to want to do this together to diffuse responsibility.

Could be, if that happens (lots of Leopards) the Challenger transfer is quietly killed before any are delivered.

Cold War 2.0 will set in, Germany will actually have to follow through with serious rearmament, and NATO will be on a hair trigger with emboldened Russia. Also China will get bolder, which will likely lead to total economic disengagement whether Germany wants it or not, and NATO expanding into the Pacific whether Germany likes it or not.

Plus Germany will not get cheap Russian gas again unless theres regime change in Russia, which means the deindustrialization of Germany.

Also effective end of EU as anything other than a free trade agreement (maybe even that too), as Eastern Europe and the Nords fall totally under American (and lesser extent British) influence and disengage as much as possible from quisling Germany and France. It's a ~25/50/25 split between increasing the rate of weapons shipments, keeping it roughly at current levels or decreasing them. Note that this was AFTER the Marders. Aka ~75% are for continued supply of AFVs to Ukraine.

Could be even better than it looks with that info, as lots of people think Marders are already tanks.

nah, they could just be imported by someone and re-sold at twice the price.
Buying 3kWh generator in poland + international shipping costs the same as 1kWh sold locally. Basically, when generator crosses the border, it becomes at least twice more expensive. Now do the math how many you can make by just moving at least 4 of these each week.

Therefore the Challenger 3 which is meant to be until like 2070 or some shit for the UK is going to be easily dealt with in that regard.

        Anonymous

That doesn't change the hull and the layout of the tank. It will still be the same and still have the same weak points if investigated. A new tank is a new tank.

Anon, it's top armour is weak, if they wanted to kill it in future they can

Yeah but it isn't just about how to kill it, but performance and other issues. It's like in WW2, the Me-109's were engineering wise better than the Spitfires at the time but the Spitfires were performing better for some reason.. until the Germans recovered a crashed Spitfire in France and discovered it was using a much better fuel source and they copied it and suddenly Spitfires weren't slightly better than the Me-109's but were not as good in some areas.

That's my point. Like, if USA had loads of M60 tanks, sending them is better than Abrams because you don't use M60's. But a Challenger 2 is basically the same tank as the Challenger 3 which isn't due to be done until like 2030. Having technical info on what is essentially a very slightly 'upgraded' tank gives you enough information to either copy stuff or modify stuff to deal with it. That's all.

Meanwhile a brand new design, top to bottom, would be useless to them because they'd have nothing to base it on. Thanks all. Just saying they should have designed a new tank from the ground up.

          Anonymous

          Oh no not performance kek
The armour in it is decades old, and realistically it's not the thing that will matter in future warfare.
There is nothing in that tank they will learn from a burnt out wreck that they couldn't have guessed on their own.
There are burnt out Abrams after all.

UK is literally the only based European country and takes their commitments serious. They have very little to give in terms of heavy weapons but aren't afraid to give what they have. Biden should've told western Europe to frick off the moment they started dragging their feet on howitzers for months and simply coordinated further actions with the UK & Poland/Czechs/Balts. Macron could go back to his phone sex sessions with Putin and Germany could continue their tree hippie larp. Ukraine meanwhile would be flying and driving Abrams by now.
