winter will halt the offensives from ukraine giving time to russia to sort their shit out get mobiks out etc. is it too late? can they even do it correctly? who knows
>winter will halt the offensives
Is this genuinely most brainlet take on /k/? So during the most unfavorable mud of Autumn Ukraine could maintain offensive but during winter they will stop...just because they must, okay?
Russians have this weird cyclical headspace where they project their own exhaustion onto the enemy.
"Oh my goodness that withdrawal was such a headfrick! You'll have to stop after all my effort!"
Not really a brainlet take at all, the issue isn't temperatures and weather so much as the lack of daylight. I'd expect a continuous slow advance like we've seen in the liberation of Kherson to continue with winter offenses, mostly relying on properly equipped special forces and HIMARs strikes fricking things up from behind the otherwise slowly moving frontlines. Ukies are fighting smart, they know when and how to use their advantages with the changing conditions.
Who will sort them out exactly?
There's no one left- first off the rank of replacement meat was all the 3rd (sometimes 4th) company of dudes in a BTG is their training staff who got sent in after the Kiev rout. They quickly figured out that wasn't enough meat so they shanghai'd all the marching bands, cooks, truck drivers, random sailors in the navy, missileers and railroad troops to stem the losses.
That was 5-6months ago I think, so no the qualified instructors don't exist any more unless they managed to grow some in a greenhouse over summer
Next problem would be the horrific assumption the enemy will do exactly what you would do, or worse, what you think they should do.
In some parts of Ukraine it'll be hard to use wheeled vehicles, some areas it might mean tracked vehicles are doing it tough as well but that's sort of situational depending on the rainfall and how far north you are because down south is sometimes a bit different. But armour is only one aspect of combat actions, you can still scrape up a heap of batteries, get everyone NVG's to run all night and just move up vast amounts of light infantry during the dark because Russia is blind as a motherfricker when it comes to low light or thermals.
It doesn't stop the drones, air strikes or artillery either. They're completely fine with just chucking bombs at vatniks all day and all night
If there's one thing Russians don't like its doing infantry fights, they're bad at it, they don't seem to do well and will only do worse with the suppression of their armour and artillery
Just waiting for the American South to successfully secede and join an alliance with a liberated bongless Australia, together we would be unstoppable mates. "Suns out, guns out" and I'm not talkin about biceps c**t, with American-supplied domestic artillery you'd finally glass those emus once and for all. The entire world would tremble before the sun reflecting from our glorious manly bogan thighs in short-shorts. Together we could restore Rhodesia and conquer the universe.
I had an idea; tell me if it's moronic. You know how pretty much all of the Russian soldiers deployed in Ukraine are from Siberian shitholes because they don't want to upset the Moscow/St Pete middle classes? In these shitholes where the poor cannon fodder live, winter isn't wet, it's *hard*. They know how to cope in cold, yes, but *dry* cold, the kind where snow doesn't melt on your coat or soak your gloves, and you can sit on the ground and have a perfectly dry arse when you get up because it's too cold for your body heat to melt anything, and you can drive perfectly well as long as you know how to cope with ice. Ukrainian winters aren't like that: they're cold and *wet*, with driving sleet that soaks your gloves and gets into your coat and boots and makes roads into mud, the kind that fricked over the Germans, and kills all morale because no matter how warm it is or how many soaking logs you can get to light, you'll only be warm and wet. Ukies know how to cope with this, they know wool keeps you warm even if it's soaked through, they know to take plenty of socks in a plastic bag and change them whenever they get the chance, and they'll be fine as for morale in the weather of their childhood winters. Could we see some kind of Russian slow-motion rout, as demoralised troops who can't hack the weather just decide to slow-roll any and all orders?
>Daylight will reduce to fewer than 9 hours a day, compared to 15-16 in the height of summer. >This results in fewer offensives and more static defensive frontlines. >Night vision capability is a precious commodity >The average high temperature will drop from 13 degrees Celcius to zero

I don't want to be that guy, but isn't the majority of ukrainian territory without power? The military will no doubt be fine with all the gibs but what will happen to civilians who need to go this winter without any reliable heating and with damaged homes?
Two weeks from now a lot of those problems will have been fixed. You can assume there are foreign work crews all over the place repairing lines and generators alongside the Ukies, with parts they have brought with them. It is civilian not military, so they don't have to advertise it.
I have three friends in ukraine, one in Kyiv and two in the south of the country, all of them are online daily. If there are outages, they aren't long enough to even outlast their phone batteries
How difficult is night fighting as a capability? Assuming NODs can be supplied, I assume Ukrainian SF can probably do it (or learn to do it) but what about regulars?
There isn't all that much experience with NOD equipped forces fighting forces without them. Most of the experience has been NODs vs normies, and the results are pretty invariably "lol, lmao". Which is to say that regardless of how hard they are to fight in, it's made much easier given the fact that the enemy is nearly blind.
waiting for someone to make one of those funny redacted edits
How are russians STILL out of winter clothing?
How can you be out of something you never had in the first place?
It's Russia, it gets pretty cold there. And the war is going on for almost a year. Plenty of time to realise that they are out.
Don't worry, Russian Duma was already planned to start producing vatniks for their soldiers

>Night vision is red
Spooky
>this will result in fewer s'mores
It's truly over....
>the golden hour window in which to crit a soldier is reduced by approximately half
>tfw crit build
big oof
poor kittens :'(
>basic drills such as cleaning must stop
based. down with mom and dad
>this results in fewer offensives
Putin will go "a-HA, they won't expect it, offensives every month now!" and this will result in more embarrassment

Lol keep waiting Jeremiah. The South will.never. EVER. Rise again
Odds Ukraine attacks anyway, lol? Or at least baits the Russians into attacking?
Does russia strike you as someone who can attack at this phase of the war? It took them months to take pisky, a literal nothingtown

There is no real intel in that message at all. Its just a weather report. Cold = bad, basically. Are interns writing this shit?
>Are interns writing this shit?
Most likely. All the good shit is classified, so their officers make the interns make something up that sounds good.
its hard to come up with anything interesting every day when one side is in full retreat

not really
they have power outages for several hours though

fake news

even most of their regulars are either sourcing or receiving night vision goggles.
