Genuinely the most based Hobbit. Ride or die even when Frodo was acting like a little b***h with Gollum.

Redpill me on cloaks. Is there a reason they’re not used for hiking? Too heavy? Can’t be used with trekking poles? They look like they’d be really easy to manage heat, since they open from the front.

      Ponchos took their place.

Y tho? Why are gaping arm holes better than an easily crossbow front? Also, whatabout a fleece cloak to keep me warm that I can easily toss to the side if I get hot?

          do you even go out?

Yes, and I see the failings of typical gear and I’m wondering if there are alternatives. Meanwhile you can’t explain why a poncho is better than a cloak. You just assume it is. A Packa is probably better than either as rain gear, and I was really blown away by how well mine worked in the fall, but that doesn’t mean I’m not curious about cloaks.

if you go out, just take a cloak and find out?

Says the manchild that is incapable of tying a piece of cloth around his narrow shoulders? Should I use smaller words to explain?

Just purchase a cloakpin and any blanket has become a cloak. I bought ten of them for like fifteen dollars a few years ago. Nice iron cloak pins.

Whenever I go out with one of my wool blankets I always bring a cloak pin with me. Then I can add a layer quickly and easily.

Not the OP, working in a poncho provides better protection from the elements than a cloak. Your front can get all wet while just your arms get wet with a poncho. Poncho + poncho liner is pretty goat.

Bit flappy in a breeze, no pockets, easy to drape over small bags or pouches on your person, very aesthetic, spare belt is almost obligatory to fully close it against bad weather.

A nail works fine too or heavy duty safety pin.

        >Dont' want to see"
        >- gay/homoerotic behavior, this is a manhood thing. I AM NOT GAY.
        >- wiener rings, can't keep it up w/o help, you aren't gonna make it on this quest
        >- firearms, there's gonna be enough guns going off and spent shells to pick up
Getting some real mixed signals here.
